Reliable was very helpful for my soil needs, explained prices and soil types right away,. also recommend a bobcat man for spreading the soil, he was extremely professional and insured, my yard never drained properly since we moved here 20years ago. After a few fly by nite dirt guys ruined our yards, we found Reliable and there expert bobcat man, now after all these years our grass looks great and our yard finally drains properly, I strongly recommend Reliable if you want it right the first time, especially if you have ongoing New Orleans styled drainage problems

I purchased soil from Reliable Soil for my vegetable garden and nothing is growing for the first time in 15 years. I am totally dissatisfied with the product. The only thing I can do is scrape of the 15 yards of soil I bought and spread it over the lawn next spring. Maybe the grass will still grow. I don’t know what’s in it, but definitely not what was expressed to be good for vegetable gardens. Lots of wood in it. Stay away from their garden soil if you want your garden to grow.

I have used this company many times, both for personal and business use. I never had a bad experience. I am a contractor myself and my best advice when dealing with dirt companies, is to always ask about what your getting. they will always tell you what is mixed in their blends. so dont get mad at them when you tried to cheapskate your way to a deal.

I purchased garden soil from Reliable Soil for my vegetable garden and nothing is growing well in it. I tried adding fertilizer and manure amendments but it did not help. However, I’ve put a few plants into garden soil from Lowes and they have grown big and green. It’s almost like there is something inhibiting growth in the soil. The soil was described as having composted mulch in it but there are tons of 6 inch or so chunks of wood that don’t look very composted. I called and asked what could be amended in the soil to make it better for a vegetable garden, and she said that she just sells it. So, apparently, it’s so «reliable» that they don’t bother testing it.

I called Reliable Soil and explained that I needed to fill my yard in its low spots. They explained that I had 3 choices: spillway sand, river pump sand or garden soil. I chose the river pump sand since it was $ 60 less expensive than the rich garden soil. Later I reconsidered and call back and explained since I had to pay my gardener to spread the dirt on my lawn, I might as well use the rich garden soil. They delivered the 6 yards & when my gardener spread it he said it was mostly mulch. Two days later it rained & all I now have is mulch on top of my grass. When I called them back, they refused all blame. Their explanation was that I should have known that their garden soil is 80% mulch & 20% sand. When I explained how we had discussed exactly how I would be using it, they said it was «my problem, not theirs.» If you have needs for soil in the Greater New Orleans area I would strongly suggest that you not consider Reliable Soil Co. of Kenner. They are extremely rude and unprofessional.
