Be aware that Chris Kelly, of BOAT​DAM​AGE​.COM may not act in your best interest as a marine surveyor on an insurance claim. He is perfectly willing to recommend and quote substandard repairs to reduce the insurance carrier’s liability, even against the recommendations of manufacturers or the subcontractors he hires to verify conditions that he is not qualified to assess.
From my experience, his processing of a survey for your claim may take weeks longer than it should. Short staffed and ill qualified sums up my experience with his services. He has plenty of «certifications» but lacks in the impartial morality department of his profession.
I get the sense that he receives performance bonuses or repeat business based on delivering low ball estimates against losses for boat owners on the part of insurance carriers that contract with him. You may be well served by hiring your own professional surveyor to present a second opinion.
I am happy to share my experience with anyone who is interested.
As a result of my documented experience, my insurance carrier will no longer use Chris for their clients claims.
