Many people have written about the great food at Mac’s, but no one has spoken about the«Deli Bars.» Hand diped Ice Cream bars with nuts or without. Summer in Kenosha just would not be the same without a Mac’s Deli Bar!!!

Big portions and good meats. Very good deli and quick and not expensive. Once you try the Italian beef be sure to try their cold sandwiches.

Mac’s is the real deal. Excellent hot beef and pastrami sandwiches, done the old school way. Nothing fancy inside or out, just decades worth of worn in charm. The sandwiches are hot and tasty Italian specialties, done the same way for decades, which is admirable. If you can’t tell the difference from subway, I truly feel sorry for you. Friendly service from at least 4 employees, they really worked well as a team. I’ll be back here every time I’m in Kenosha. Thanks to Chibbqking for the great tip on this place.

Bland. Bleh. After reading all the good reviews I decided to try this place. It looked interesting since so many good delis are in the back of a market. You need to be a regular because we had no idea how the ordering system worked. I ordered the Italian beef, co worker order the Gordon Blue. Both of our sandwiches were utterly bland and had no taste whatsoever. Staff was friendly but not helpful. Will not be back. Subway is better.

Great sandwiches & friendly staff. If your going for the first time, the ordering system can be a little confusing. Walk up to the counter & fill out a little check sheet with what you’d like. Then hand it in. I’ve tried the chili, which is good, but it’s a little on the sweet side. So if you’re into that you might dig it.

Went here for the first time last weekend. The b/f and I wanted to get sandwiches for out picnic. I.Was.Starved. The guys behind the counter were super friendly and nice. I ordered a large turkey sammie cause i’m boring. They also asked if I like seafood. I said I sure do(it must have been my salivating at the glass that gave it away). He suggested we get some of their lime cilantro salad. Well. Damn. Done. ITWASFANTASTIC. The b/f had some italian sammie with french dressing on it. It was epic. Spicy and sweet! Oh, my sammie was also delicious and yes, I ate the whole damn thing. Back to the sides… so we ordered that salad and also a tuna salad which was inhaled. They had TONS of options for sides. Just tons. You could also pick up some sodas, juice, beer, cookies, chips etc. They have a little convience store inside as well. I hear their beefs are delish. …I have a pretty high bar on beefs! I am a chicago gal!!! They have been around for ages, and it is preety easy to see why. Super friendly staff. Delicious fresh food.(they have hot and cold sammies avail) OH! THEYMAKETHEIROWNICECREAMBARS((sorrrrry í don’t know how i forgot that! i didn’t try them :0(i’m lactose intolerant and didn’t have my pills wahhhhhh!!)) And the price is right!

Food was good and good value, people were friendly. Atmosphere? It’s a deli with a few seats. We loved it. Good Chicago Beef sandwiches.

Heard they had the best Italian Beef sandwich in town. if this was indeed the best in town then I should just stop my quest for Italian Beef in Kenosha. Why does this town not understand the concept of thinly sliced roast beef slow cooked in Italian herbs and spices???

The hot sandwiches are very good. I visit the web site for the daily specials and the sandwich of the week. They have some interesting food that changes weekly. The hot pastrami on a French roll is very good and something I have never seen any where else. It’s dumpy/dive like on the inside but food is good. It’s not tenutas but it is what it is. You go to macs for macs and tenutas for tenutas. The Italian sub is probably one of the best in Kenosha because I can’t think of a better one.

Everytime I go home to Kenosha, I try to get to Mac’s to get a hot pastrami sandwich. I always get the same thing… the big one with mustard and hot peppers on the side(they are HOT). The best pastrami I have ever had… ever! Their catering is fantastic, too!

I have to dissent from the otherwise rave reviews. Went there today, my first time. Asked for a pastrami on rye bread – young man behind the counter says they don’t have rye bread. Huh? A deli, granted an Italian deli, that serves pastrami but no rye bread. Heresy. Sandwich was served on a french roll that had been diped in some sort of au jus. By the time I sat down, unwrapped the sandwich and took my first bite, the bread was all soggy. Cannot say much about the quality of the meat(there was quite a bit of it) because if you blindfolded me and asked me what I was eating I couldn’t tell you if it was pastrami or roast beef. I might give them another chance and try their supposedly excellent Italian beef if I am in the neighborhood. If you want a real Italian food experience head west a mile or so to Tenuta’s.

Excellent and expensive food, crude people that work there, snuddy, and impatient bring your wallet.

I love Macs Deli — they have great italian beef and good hospitality! The owner can seem a little cranky, but that’s part of her charm! Just smile and you’ll see she smiles right back ;)

I have been going to Mac’s for their hot sandwiches for years. They also make a pretty mean bowl of chili. Mac’s is primarily a deli/take-out place, but there is limited seating inside and outside.

Their pastrami sandwich is the best. The chef salad with honey mustard dressing is top notch. Never had anything not good there The food preparers sometimes need an attitude adjustment. Good value

Quick Review: Small deli, but three massive traditions 1. Nutty Bar — Chocolate, strawberry or vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with walnuts 2. Hot Beef Sandwich — Delicious and tender roasted beef marinated in an Italian-spiced au jus. Apply on a sliced French roll loaded with sport peppers and you have the perfect sandwich. 3. Italian Sub – The BEST sandwich ever created. Get the Italian [no skimping from their end — it includes Prosciutto). Of course, use Provolone cheese on the Italian bread with Italian dressing, Miracle Whip and the mild giardinera. There’s not much else to the store — space-filling groceries and decent bakery and deli, but these three traditions make Mac’s irreplaceable.
