University of Wisconsin – Parkside

In spite of Draconian budget cuts, this collegiate gem remains an outstanding academic institution, a lovely campus, and an academic star that all Wisconsin tax payers should be proud of. The modern and well maintained buildings are attractive inside and out, they are surrounded by a small forest and the many large windows provide soothing and pleasant views. This is where the Northwestern Wildcats have their summer football training camp, and the players rave about the food quality. There is surprisingly good food in the cafeteria, rivaling the best restaurants in town. Community lectures, plays, concerts, and art exhibits, there’s a lot for the area residents and visitors to enjoy here. Of course the main service is a solid undergraduate education, somewhat precariously maintained in today’s anti-​education, anti-​science, anti-​intellectual political environment, but I think it’s still one of the best college choices in the Midwest.

A place for hardworking students. We are the most diverse campus in the UW system and we have lots of working class students. Small class sizes. Excellent theater, pre-​health, computer science programs and more.

The university for people who hate to walk very far to class. (unless you’re a commuter– then you may have to walk a bit from those parking lots) I will fondly remember UW-​Parkside for giving someone with a pretty ugly high school academic record a chance and the ability to prove I was destined for real college.
