Knowles Apothecary

My prescription is never ready when they say it will be. They say it will take 2 days to process it; it usually takes a week. Every time I call they tell me something different. Terrible customer service. If I didn’t need their compounding services, I would definitely go somewhere else.

Very useful staff. Quick fills. Courteous and willing to answer questions.
They have a very diverse variety of homeopathic remedies.
A bit on the expensive side for some items that you’d be able to get other places. The closing hours are too early in the day.

I have been coming to Knowles for 5 years, filling various prescriptions for my dog and myself. Each time I visit, the staff greets me by name and knows exactly what I’m there for, whether it be for prescription drugs or their various lines of herbal remedies and natural supplements. When I need medications ordered, it is always done in a timely fashion. They’re very inexpensive compared to other compounding pharmacies in the area, and I trust that each medication is made with care and concern for my dog. It’s nice to have local pharmacy be able to fit every need for my family, and in addition, have a «mom and pop» feel.

My veterinary practice uses Knowles Apothecary to compound medicines for my sick Tonkinese kitty, Benjamin. I am so grateful that they are there and that they are just 10 minutes away from my home by car.
Today, the young man who helped me at the register carefully explained how to administer the medication, rather than my having find out on my own how to dose Benjamin Pearl. (In the past, the techs have seemed confused about finding the prescription that you have come to pick up even after a «heads-​up» from them on the phone.)
My only complaint is the time that it takes for the compounded prescriptions to become available (2 – 3 days). When you have a gravely ill pet, the wait is excruciating.
Additionally, employees on the floor are helpful and will special order any supplements or herbs that are not in stock but available from their distributors and give me a discount, to boot!
The Apothecary also makes office space available to alternative practitioners, one of whom I see monthly.

I gave up on the chain drugstore around the corner and switched to Knowles about 6 months ago, and so far it’s been wonderful. The people on the phone and at the counter take initiative, use their brains, and treat me like a person (none of which I have found at chain drugstores to date, unfortunately). I haven’t had to use their delivery option yet but it’s a great thing to have available. Two cautiously optimistic thumbs up.

Always offering expert advice and going the extra mile to provide service beyond expectations. I’ve used Knowles for years, (as have a lot of my friends that I have referred) and have dependably found them competitive in price and exceptional in attitude.

My vet failed to call in my prescription for antibiotics my sick kitten really needed asap. I found that out and got a prescription over to Knowles around 5:00pm. Ok, they say, it’ll be ready tomorrow. As soon as they heard the panic in my voice the pharmacist said never mind, we can get it done tonight (even though they closed in just an hour.) And they did!
Kitten is 1000% better, and I really appreciated Knowles helping me out when I was in a full pet-​parent panic. You guys rock!

Pros:
Personalized, friendly, if-we-don’t-carry-your-Rx-we’ll-get-it-and-drive-it-to-your-house type of customer service. Literally. It’s a mixed blessing that most of them know me by name, but I love the service and think the staff is top notch. From checking to see if there are lower cost alternatives to a med my Dr has prescribed, and calling her to check, to offering advice on which alternative therapies would be complementary rather counter productive to my RX, their service is exemplary. Their competitive pricing, wide variety of natural remedies and holistic medicines, and the fact that they offer compounding as well, make it a one stop shop and time saver for me.
Cons:
They are open from M-​F 9 – 6, Sat from 9 – 1 and closed Sunday. These hours aren’t always compatible with my hectic schedule. Parking can be a pain when the small lot, for such a large business building, is full.
All in all, their great service, variety and prices far exceed the sometimes inconvenient parking and hours.

I am sad to say that I am moving all of my business from Knowles to Walgreens. I was initially excited to use a non-​chain store pharmacy. However, over the past year, Knowles’ service has gotten progressively worse. They don’t follow up when there are issues, they commit to delivering one day and then don’t show up or call, they claim they never receive prescriptions even though I was in the Doctor’s office and watched it successfully faxed to them.
In addition, I got no response from Knowles when I expressed my disappointment directly to them.

Do you have an idea of how an amazing pharmacy should treat you? This place is it. Excellent service and products. The personal attention pretty fabulous if you frequent there. The first pharmacy I have actually given gifts to. Love it. Natural remedies, home delivery and very cool staff. I thought I had to move to the midwest for this type of treatment.

This is a great place to come if you’re looking for excellent customer service. Besides from the apothecary side, they are a full service pharmacy and compounding specialists.
I stopped in this afternoon to inquire about herbal support for my dog’s diabetic issues. The poor guy has to get two injections a day from his very anxious mommy (Me). I read about the effects of Gymnema Leaf on blood sugar levels and thought, since this place in on my way home, that I’d ask the experts.
Lucky timing. They have a clinical herbalist on staff M — F from 11 — 3. Loni answered a lot of my questions and even looked up information about a supplement I was considering purchasing online. They didn’t carry it, but upon reading about its contents, Loni said it was all natural and would order it for the store.
I still need to discuss my dog’s condition with his vet before I take any further action, but if I do decide to supplement his insulin with alternative health care, Knowles Apothecary is the place I’ll turn to.
