Nicholson Plumbing

After getting burned by the last plumber I called, I took a chance on Nicholson based on the Unilocal reviews. Robin responded quickly on email to set up an appointment. I really appreciate the email option from service providers since I can’t take calls at my job which tends to result in endless games of phone tag. No such problem here. Angelo came out the next day and was great. He was critical of the unnecessary work done by the last plumber, which validated my belief that the fix didn’t make sense. He unclogged my problematic basement drain, cleaned up after himself, and charged less than either of the two plumbers who snaked it in the past. I already recommended them to another friend who just got an insane estimate from a plumber and I will call on them again for sure.

It was my first time using Nicholson Plumbing. Excellent front office support, Robin, set up Angelo L. to come over the same day! He changed some defective valves in your kitchen faucet and properly sealed a misaligned pipe under the sink and fixed a leaking toilet. Excellent customer service from start to finish. Fair pricing! Nicholson Plumbing deserve an A+/5-Stars! I Recommend Them Highly!

Hard to put down 5 stars after I put down almost $ 200 for a clogged drain, but then again I was very happy with the service. I think that, in this game, if you balk a little about the price, they cut it a little for you to soften the blow. In this case, I was just happy that it wasn’t going to cost me much, much more.
Called and a very nice lady answered the phone and promised she’d get someone within the next three hours. She said she’d call when he was on the way, but must have forgotten. I was in the middle of a time-​sensitive chore when someone showed up just about an hour later, but he didn’t mind waiting for a minute. Point is, they came fast, and since my problem prevented the use of our kitchen and laundry, I was very happy about that.
He cut a pipe, unclogged the stoppage and replaced the section with a removable section so that the problem would be easier to resolve, should it happen again. He also gave me some good advice about taking care of pipes in an older house.
Not only that, but he helped me to locate a valve that eluded me since I’ve moved in, and now we have use of another spigot that was previously off.
I’ll call these guys first when I need plumbing again.

I have used them a few times for minor plumbing issues around my house. They are usually able to come and make any repairs within a couple days. Prices seem fair. I also don’t ever feel like they are trying to ‘upsell’ or push services on me that I don’t need.

Angelo came out to replace my outside «frost free» spigot that burst. He was on time and he knew what he was doing.
Great, professional, courteous service. Came out on Saturday, no extra charge. Very fair price and first-​class repair all the way. Will use again, for sure.

Called Monday morning, spoke to a nice lady and set up an appointment for Tuesday, was given a 2 hour arrival window… Come Tuesday: they didn’t show up, and no phone call saying they would be no shows. Very unprofessional.

I had a clog in the pipes from the kitchen sink. Not sure what it was, but I tried many times clearing it. I’ve tried a ¼″ snake, ½″ snake, drano… nothing worked. I even went up to snake from the roof, still clogged.
I called a couple of places for plumbing. the one guy I called, Payless plumbing, this guy was awesome, told him my situation and he was explaining to me that he only had a 25ft snake, same one i used myself, he said he might not be able to help me out since he didnt have anything longer than the 25ft. He also told me to go with Nicholson since I had told him about the quote that Robin had given me, said it was a great deal and he’s also heard good things about Nicholson.
Called Robin again, she’s an extremely sweet lady, very helpful, and patient on the phone. I scheduled the appointment with her in the AM, and the son, Chance, came out and snaked the pipe for me. My kitchen is pretty awkwardly designed, there were a lot of unnecessary 90 degrees pipes, it was difficult, but after a few tries with both the little drill supported snake (failed, since the 25ft was not long enough) and the k-​50 snake (larger snake); the clog went away…(found some plastic bag pieces in the pipe…)
Chance knew what he was doing, Robin was extremely friendly on the phone, and the price they gave me was extremelyy! reasonable. Their service was just wonderful. I usually fix these things myself and rarely call for some professionals to fix, but this was something that I tried tackling for a week, and without the right tools, I couldnt do it myself. I was so glad he fixed it for me; heck, I was real happy that he got it done in like an hour that I gave him a spare monitor for free because I thought he did a great job in unclogging the pipes.
I also just gave my coworkers and friend their information so they can use them in the future. I would definitely recommend them to anyone that needs plumbing work. Not sure how many plumbers they go through, but Chance did a wonderful job and is a great guy.

I called Nicholson for a clogged kitchen drain — they came the next day. Angelo the plumber arrived on time, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I can now say that I have a Plumber that I can call on and trust — thank you!

I own a condo in Bethesda, but live out of town. My tenants had a bad clog in the sink that the normal Harry Homeowner remedies did not solve. Nicholson was quick, and professional. Dealing with Robin in the office was a pleasure. Job well done.

Quick, friendly service and they gave me good, money saving advice. Very happy.

They are a small family owned plumbing business and very knowledgeable. Their price and estimates are very honest and usually lower then their competition. Work was completed in a timely manner and area was cleaned afterwards. However, we did have a major sewer line problem and we were under the impression that were in queue to have the line replaced. After waiting 2 months with no call backs and playing phone tag afterwards we decided to go with a larger company. They seem to be a small company that is simply growing too quickly for its owners to handle.
I would recommend them in the future for small jobs, but for more complex jobs I am going to leave it to larger companies.

can you give zero stars? Their reviews are so solid, so nice on the phone, so quick to come over and assess and then… pooof — nothing. In all fairness, they did say that they were very busy and would need to schedule a pipe/​shower repair 2 weeks out, but after a week of waiting with no word and then calling back to find out that a date was never scheduled in the first place was so frustrating! Bottom line, I suspect that they are good plumbers but thumbs down on the follow through!

Having used Nicholson Plumbing for many years, I can say that I have consistently been treated very well as a customer. All jobs were done well and at a reasonable price, including when unforeseen challenges arise due to non-​standard elements found in my 78-​year-​old house.
I only take the time to write a few recommendations of businesses each year, but felt compelled to do so in this case. Today they spent time debugging a problem with my heating zone system that another HVAC & plumbing company got wrong. Because no parts were changed out, they elected not to charge me even though they spent over an hour looking at the problem. It is a relief to deal with a home services company that treats customers in a such a fair manner.

We had a good experience with Nicholson Plumbing. We had problems with two toilets; one was very noisy & slow when refilling and the other had a phantom flush. The plumber showed up on time and quickly diagnosed the problems. He replaced 3 parts and some pipe. Total charge for parts and labor was $ 178.

I’ve used this company twice now. They are easy to schedule. They arrive on time. They do a good job in a timely fashion.
They have replaced a tub spout because the old one was calcified to the point where it could not longer be used. They also did a toilet repair to replace the rusted bolts and a few other small things (the parts inside the toilet tank get worn down especially if the cleaning tabs are used in the tank).

As Seinfield said, it’s not about *making* appointments, it’s about *keeping* them. I called two days in advance, a very pleasant receptionist made an appointment… and called one hour prior to the appointment time to cancel it. «The plumber has called in sick». Moreover, they don’t have any openings the next day, either, since they are «busy with another client».
There is a thing called «professionalism». If I promised to do something, I keep my promises. At work, especially. This is what you’re judged on. My judgment in this case — one star. Good luck.

I just bought a house that needed some plumbing work and a hot water tank. I called several recommendations but Robin sold me sounding so sweet and helpful when I set up the appointment. They called 20 minutes before arriving on time. Chance came and looked at our sink and showers and was honest about what could be done and helped to save us from a major project. He got us a quote for a new hot water tank which we accepted and the same day Colin came out and installed. Both Colin and Chance were fantastic, honest, informative, and I have a new plumbing company. Not that we want a lot of plumbing done but if needed, I totally trusted them and felt like they were trying to help us. Locally owned family business too which is way better.

It’s 10:00 P.M. when I get home and realize that my kitchen ceiling is leaking, and has been leaking since I left for work, given the fact that my cupboards, oven, and counters are covered in water. I panic, throw some pots underneath the ceiling, and hope for the best when I start calling plumbers in the area in the morning.
I called three before I tried Nicholson Plumbing. All went to voicemail. It was such a nice surprise to actually get a receptionist! She was extremely pleasant and understanding, promising to send someone out that day. True to her word, two men from the company showed up during the time period she gave me, and found the source of the leak (a pipe above my kitchen ceiling).
Unfortunately the pipe was in such an awkward location that they had to come back the next day to spend time in both my kitchen and in my bathroom upstairs above it. Again, they came at the time that they said they would, and they finished the repair. No more leaking pipe — woo-​hoo! They were respectful (I’m in my twenties and they called me «ma’am») and genuinely nice. They didn’t roll their eyes when I asked a million questions and I trusted them completely in my house. I’m so glad that I found a good plumbing company in the area! I can’t sing their praises enough.
