Specialties

Our specialty is our local Jane’s Ice Cream. Hand made only in Kingston, NY. It is delivered weekly and always fresh. The most popular flavor is Cookie Monster which is vanilla ice cream with home-​baked chocolate chip cookies. Other popular flavors include espresso cookie, Salty Caramel Pretzel, Mango sorbet and the best vanilla bean in the universe! If you’re not in the mood for ice cream we offer an original hot dog menu. Each hot dog comes with a side of freshly popped popcorn. Top-​quality espresso and coffee are roasted locally at Irving Farm. We also offer an assortment of Harney & Sons teas.

Established in 1994.

Annie Bananie is adjoined to Backcountry Outfitters. We are an outdoor specialty shop/​General Store. We also offer x-​country ski, ice skate and snowshoe rentals. Summer hours are Mon. — Sat. 9 – 8, and Sun. 10 – 6

Winter hours are Mon-​Sat 9 – 6 and Sun. 10 – 4

Annie Bananie was one of the reasons we went to Kent to begin with, as Anne and Annie are close in sound and Anne is always called Annie by those who are about to die (she doesn’t like the name tag). So we had to stop.
We thought this was an ice cream shop. That it was, but also Backcountry Outfitters, with a combination of clothing that we needed for outdoor workout that we had seen nowhere else, and a country store. We spent 25 minutes in an ice cream shop, where Annie of the store’s name was not only helpful, but respectful, open and fun to be around. This really was a destination all by itself.

My friend liked the ice crème. Wood was $ 6, they sell it at the park for $ 4. The hat I wanted to buy was over $ 40 so I passed. It’s not an overstocked place, but you might find some outdoor gear here, and the ice crème selection looks good.

The best choice for ice cream in Kent if you’ve got kids with you. They had some interesting flavors and had shakes and such.
Otherwise, I’d suggest trying the ice cream next door at Belgique.
