Gary Cowart DDS started practicing in Kent after graduating form the UW school of Dentistry.

His son Josh Cowart DDS joined the practice in 1999 after graduating from the UW school of dentistry.

Business Owner

Gary Cowart graduated from the UW School of Dentistry in 1977. Not only is he an accomplished dentist but he is also a veteren of the Marine Corps and is an excellent writer. He has several books currently available in online form. Gary focuses mainly on the patients he has treated in the Kent area over the last 30 plus years. When not at the office Gary spends much of his time working around his home in Maple Valley where he has a few horses and other farm like projects. He collects old farm artifacts and has some old tractors and a truck that he enjoys tinkering with. He’s also been known to hang out in the pioneer town of Roslyn WA as he is a big fan of the TV series Northern Exposure.

Great dentist! Dr. Cowart is super nice, as are the staff members. This is a smaller office which is nice because they treat you more personally. One reason I really like them is because they don’t try to push unnecessary procedures and products on their patients. They also take my dental insurance (Delta dental). Highly recommended!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Joshua Cowart for the past 15 years and can’t speak highly enough about him and his wonderful office staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful — they really put your mind at ease (if you’re terrified of doctor’s offices like I am.)
Dr. Josh is super knowledgeable, calm and takes the time to discuss any issues or concerns you might have. I even drive from Seattle because they are irreplaceable… highly recommended!

My wife and I have been going to Dr. Cowart for about 18 years. His son started practicing there a few years ago and our kids go to him. Both doctors are excellent and I can’t imagine taking my family anywhere else. Fantastic front office staff too.

BEST DENTIST EVER! Dr. Josh is especially fantastic with little kids and nervous adults! So GENTLE and so knowledgeable — he really keeps informed in his field and has a great way of sharing the latest information on your healthy teeth so it’s accessible & useful. Have been recommending him for years — he’s the BEST! I’ve had some good dentists, and I’ve had some terrible ones also over the years — most recently when I moved to Tacoma — I now drive all the way from University Place to Kent because Dr. Josh is just that good!

I highly recommend seeing Dr. Josh. I’m a very nervous person when it comes to seeing a dentist, so I’m extremely picky when it comes to who I trust. He is a honest dentist who is going to recommend what you really need and not what makes him the most money. And he isn’t going to aggressively pressure you into anything and he doesn’t make you feel like he is in a rush. He did such a great job with my fillings. The shots were so well done, less painful than what prior dentist have done. My fiancé had a tooth pulled and that went extremely well too. And the staff and assistants there are so wonderful. Such genuinely friendly people. I rarely write reviews but I felt so thankful for my excellent experience I had to share just in case anyone else is out there looking for a dentist you can trust.

Went in again for what I definitely thought was going to be a root canal, but Dr. Gary saved my tooth and I was out of there in no time. The Cowarts and their staff are the BEST! I highly recommend their practice.

I have seen both Dr. Gary and Josh Cowart (father and son). They are both great. I feel like I get a good explanation of the problem and treatment proposed. I have been to a number of dentists in the past and my experience here is less painful than I have experienced elsewhere.
