Smooth Operations is Marin County’s Premier Waxing Studio. We pride ourselves on giving you a great experience in a clean, friendly salon. We also offer Nova Lash semi-​permanent Lash Extensions, a variety of post waxing products and other goodies!

History

Established in 2007.

Started as just a one women show, Smooth Operations has been growing strong for 6 years now. After moving from our San Rafael location four years ago, we are pleased and excited to report that business is boombing! The new location in Kentfield has three fabulouse treatment rooms which allow us the take even more clients starting at 9am Monday — Saturday. We are also lucky to have found 4 amazing ladies who are at the top of their game and provide exception service to our continued repeat clientele. From Brows to Brazilians you won’t find a more exceptional place to be waxed. Come try us out.

Exactly 3 weeks later and my extensions still look BOMB. Have lost most closest to the inner corners of each eye. I wear some eyeliner and eyeshadow… and even mascara (which is NOT advised) and here’s what they look like after 3 weeks:

Went here for a Brazilian. I was in a time crunch and needed a same day appointment. My go to gal (who gets the job done in 10 minutes and 5 pulls) was out of the country, so I found this place and made an appointment due to the Unilocal reviews and availability. I experienced one of the worst brazilians I’ve ever had here! She did at least 15 pulls and it took almost 40 minutes! What?! It was totally unnecessary and caused some bleeding and tons of ingrown hairs. I’m giving this an extra star because the lady was nice and they were able to accommodate me at the last minute, but I won’t be returning.

Jessica Glantz thank you for yet another amazing job at my Brazilian! Fast, clean and made me feel so comfortable like always… I really love the place it’s just adorable… she stays till 7pm on certain days which helps working ppl :-) she even had time to do my eye brows!

So I just have to start off by saying Jessica is AMAZING. She is so incredibly sweet and makes sure that you are 100% satisfied with your lashes before you walk through that door! I went in today to get a eyelash fill for my 21st birthday and Jessica went the extra mile to make sure it was absolutely perfect.
About 3 weeks ago I went to Jessica for my first time getting a full set of eyelash extensions and I’m so glad I didn’t go to anyone else. I was very nervous to say the least, and she made me feel so comfortable and was EXTREMELY gentle. I didn’t even feel her working on my eyelashes.
Overall, if you’re looking to find the perfect person to do your eyelash extensions, look no further. Jessica is the one to go to. I won’t go to anyone else!

Don’t use these people for permanent eye makeup. Not worth the risk of something going terribly wrong in a poorly lit treatment room and questionable technique. They also claim it requires multiple applications. If done properly permanent makeup should take 1 treatment and perhaps a touch up. That’s it!

Melanie K is amazing, kind, gentle. Not enough words to describe a good experience. The office is clean, welcoming and easily accessible, right off Sir Francis Drake.

I cannot say enough about my eyelash extensions. I booked an appointment to see Jessica 2 weeks ago (per a friend’s recommendation) and my eyelashes still look amazing! Jess agreed to see me after her regular business hours which meant a lot as I am usually constrained by my own work hours.
Jessica reviewed with me the care instructions that accompany eyelash extensions as well as different options such as synthetic vs mink extensions relative to my ability to maintain them. After reviewing my options she brought a yoga bolster to put under my knees as I would be on my back for about 90 minutes. During the application of the lashes she would periodically check in with me to ensure I was comfortable. About every 20 minutes I was offered a glass of water and the opportunity to sit up as lying down for that long with one’s eyes closed can be difficult for some.
After the application she helped me off the table and accompanied me to the mirror. To my ultimate delight she had achieved the precise look I was going for. My eyelashes looked absolutely stunning; beautifully full and fanned out without the over the top false lash look wanted to avoid. It’s been two weeks since my appointment and everytime I look in the mirror I am taken aback. The adhesive they use is no joke. It truly doesn’t budge off my natural lash. Of course I will be returning to get them filled every 4 weeks and will be booking with Jessica from here on out!
I would recommend smooth operations to anyone looking for the absolute best lash extensionist in town!

I’ve been here a couple of times for Brazilians, but purely out of convenience. I think I’ve had Jessica G a couple of times, Meryl and one other girl. Meryl did not care whatsoever about making me feel comfortable — she ripped those wax strips so vigorously and didn’t even check to make sure I was okay (worst waxing experience ever). For the amount I paid and tipped Jessica she was sloppy every time she waxed me — leaving hair and lots of wax on me. I’m a pretty regular waxer so I know how long to have my hair and the difference between a professional wax and one that’s a rip off… This place is not worth the price. I gave it a couple of tries, but I’m definitely never coming back.

LOVE this place! ive been going to this place for waxing for years!!! everyone who works there is friendly, and expert at what they do. The place is chic, beautifully decorated, and smell amazing.
Also, Melanie and Jessica have been doing my lashes for almost a year now! Theyre the best! ive received TONS of compliment. they look so natural on!
So, if youre thinking of getting your lashes done, Smooth Operation is definitely the place!

Would not recommend this place!!! Overpriced and bad results! Ive done lash exTension with Jessica. First time she made it «ok». I paid for full lash extensions but she have done maybe half. Ok, next time I went to refill and paid for 1 hour refill and it was cost the same price like for full set extension!!! And she cut my own lashes which are pretty long because I’m using latisse, and when I left from there lashes starts scratch my eyes so my eyes become red so soon and I pulled over Cuz I couldn’t see anything!!! So when I looked to the mirror I saw what she glued lashes so close to eye balls and they scratch eyes … So I removed myself 8 lashes so I would be able to drive… Terrible experience and overpriced!!! Don’t go to Jessica !!!

I have been twice for eye brow shaping. My only regret is that I asked my electrologist to try to maintain Jessica’s shape. I am grateful for the nice job that she did and the confidence it gives me. AND the time it saves me with the eye brow pencil.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The Brazilian waxing is good — fast and as painless as it can be. The eyebrow shaping/​waxing is also very good. Also, the place is fairly clean — I have seen some debris on the floor in the waxing rooms (small bits of paper and such). My issue with this place is the occasional lack of a receptionist/​greeter and room privacy.
The few times that I got a Brazilian at Smooth Operations, I was instructed to disrobe for the treatment and wait in one of the treatment rooms. No towel or robe was ever provided, so I would stand half naked next to the table and wait for my aesthetician. I am not ultra modest, but this is a bit awkward. Anyhow, once my aesthetician opened the door (widely), I would quickly tuck myself next to the table to avoid being seen by customers at the front desk. The aesthetician does not lock the door and the treatment table is set so that your bits face the door. This is not a really comfortable experience and, given that one reviewer actually walked in on another client’s treatment, is causing me to question whether I will return.

I went in for eyelash extensions from Jessica and WOW she is amazing! She took the time to do them perfectly and how I asked for them. She was friendly, and made sure I was more than comfortable. In the pat I’ve had extensions that lasted for a week or so but they look as good as the day I got them!!! I wouldn’t go anywhere else ever again! She’s the best!!! Truly an eyelash artist!

This place is AMAZING, and Jessica is STUPENDOUS.
Let’s start with the space itself: like something out of Apartment Therapy — cute, clever, creative, fresh, sleek without being sterile, and BRUTALLY clean. Everything was welcoming, sweet, and aesthetically pleasing without being fussy or precious.
Now let’s move onto the service: WOW. Now, I’m not going to lie to you and tell you that having hair torn from your nethers by warm wax is ever a walk in the park, but this was by far the most tolerable and pain-​minimal Brazilian I’ve ever had. They use very high-​quality wax, which makes all the difference, and Jessica has a very expert touch that really minimizes the owie factor. Plus, it’s such an awkward situation and we just chatted away about music and other random things like she was doing the hair on my head.
I’ll be back for touch-​ups as well as brows. Really cannot say enough good things about Jessica and Smooth Operations!

I’ve never had less than a 5 star experience here. I’ve seen Melanie, Jessica Harris and Jessica Glantz — and they were all stellar!
My go-​to spot for brazilians (and all waxing in general) and lash services (lash extensions are great for special occasions — I was especially happy with my results when Melanie did mine.)

Mixed review:
Clean facilities, which are a MUST when you are going to get your sensitive bits all waxed. They never re-​used (double dipped) the wooden spatulas (that scary practice I’ve seen others do elsewhere). Once I got into the room, service was fast (another Must when you’re getting sensitive spots waxed!)
The down side:
My first time there I walked in and there was no one there to greet me. «Ok, I’ll sit and read a mag for a few,» but I really had to use the Lue so I walked into a room with a slightly open door and was MORTIFIED to see a woman spread eagle on the table and her waxer standing over her! EEEK! I was looking for the bathroom!
I (of course) quickly shut the door and ran the other direction SO apologetic! But why wasn’t there a clear sign for the restroom? –or some one there to greet me, check me in, and answer an important question, like the bathroom is the MIDDLE door?!
Then once I went in for my treatment, the waxer treated my awful, like she was mad at me for walking in on her! Hello, why was the door ajar? pffffft!
Because I got it on a livingsocial, I decided to give it a second try, and the next time service was much better.
3 stars.

Love them!
I’m a convert from Benefit Mill Valley, and I’m glad I made the switch! Here are the pros and why it works for me:
1) online scheduling– because not all of us work 9 to 5. Sometimes I get home at one in the morning and realize I need a brow wax the next day-​bam! Instant appointment.
2) pretty painless as waxes go. Also, they do a really good job of distracting you from the fact you’re half-​naked and completely vulnerable.
3) no wait– ever! I show up five minutes early expecting to wait 15 and they are already ready for me.
4) No pressure. They wax, you pay, you go. None of that pressure to buy make-​up, sign up for extras, etc.
5) They actually like what they do and want to be there. Some places treat waxing like a chore. These women like their jobs, and are really thorough.
