It’s a trailer along the road and you sit on picnic tables. But the barbecue is incredible! Beef brisket or pork with sauce on the side(and you don’t need the delicious sauce they provide). Generous portions and reasonable prices. Well worth the trip!

Simple. Great. Barbecue. This place is zero frills and, more importantly, zero pretense. If you’re in the area, definitely stop in for some of their brisket. Middle of the day is best, as towards the latter part of the day the cornbread isn’t quite as good. Thanks Outpost!

Great take out BBQ. Rustic potato salad, sweet baked beans… and thick BBQ sauce packed with hints of outdoor summer flavors. Loved the tender beef brisket while hubby enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich. Great stop if heading to Mohonk Mountain Preserve for a picnic.

This place is amazing. Great food and friendly service. We come here after hiking on the Shawangunk ridge. Perfect post hike food. The barbecue is top notch. Get the 3 meat combo plate. You won’t regret it. I

I needed to get some take out while at a conference in Kerhonkson and had seen this on line so had to try it. I got the brisket sandwich which I did really enjoy, as the meat was moist and flavorful and the quantity was more than ample. The side of potato salad was well above average with many things in it. I don’t know if they have tables to eat at during the warm weather, though it would seem nice if they did. My only minor quibble was that the container of sauce was only half full and the amount was a little inadequate for the amount of meat in the sandwich. Next time I would probably ask for 2. If you get the sandwich, I definitely would not try to eat it in the car. Can’t pick it up because of size and it would be a mess. At $ 8 which included tax, it was really a bargain.

Outpost Barbecue is pretty good! Personally, I prefer their pulled pork to their briskets. Their meals come in nice sized containers containing your meat, and your choices of multiple sides, including cole slaw, baked beans, and corn bread. You get two choices with each order of the beef brisket/pulled pork meal, which also comes with a drink. That comes out to about ten dollars. The establishment is in a nice spot, right on the corner of Route 209 and Samsonville Road in a grassy field. They have picnic tables set outside, and you can eat your fresh barbecue right in the shade of a tree. It’s a very nice place!

Pretty good. Some room for improvement as food portions vary at times. Nice to have a quick bbq run in this area. Potato salad is excellent.

For a roadside stand this place was very good!!! My husband and I each had the combo platter, me having chicken, pulled pork and brisket with potato salad and cole slaw. Very tasty, though not a fan of brisket… My husband had the same except he had the baked beans. We enjoyed our meal and had left overs to bring home. Nice to relax and eat at the picnic tables…

Hand pulled pork was soooo amazing and the sides were great too, had the slaw and the baked beans and potato salad. 4 stars only bc they sold out of the bbq chicken legs/dark meats and my fiancé and i were only able to try the white meats which we dont like very much to begin with.

SOOOOO delicious. As good as any bbq I have ever had in my many years. The pulled pork, brisket, potato salad and cole slaw were favorites. You cannot beat the price or the venue. I live in nyc and have been to the«hot» bbq places — and none compare.(Not that nyc is known for it’s bbq — but still…) I would, and do, drive out of my way for Outpost!

I have had a lot of bad BBQ. Fortunately this is one of the few good ones in NY. The brisket is tender with just the right amount of smokiness. Why 4 stars instead of 5? Because it pisses me off that they leave the Open sign up 24 hours. More than once I drove by and decided to go there on a whim only to be disappointed that it was closed. Is it so hard to take down the banner?

Restored my faith in brisket! I literally just said I needed to stop ordering brisket because it never stood up to my expectations. So glad I caved and ordered it at Outpost! This is the brisket I have been dreaming about! Get it. And the cole slaw.

I was surprised and somewhat delighted to find this place on Unilocal, given how rural and non-digital the local area is — we were there for a 10 day family vacation. Super-friendly lady in the shack, we took 3 combo platters for our 2 adult, 2 kid family group. Food was great. Not world-beating, but given the context, really tasty and well cooked. IMO, the pulled pork(pure deliciousness) was best, followed by the brisket(moist and tasty if a little black in color) and then the chicken(a little bland). The sides, we had beans(nice, but uninspiring), potato salad(pretty plain) and coleslaw(fresh, crunchy, but not exciting). Extremely good value for money, and much much better than the local alternatives. Definitely worth swinging by in you’re in the rough area.

So, my friends and I see a dude on a hill with a smoker dishing out BBQ sort of in the middle of nowhere and needless to say, we had to go. The five of us shared two triple combo platters will 3 sides each for just $ 26 total. Great value. Let’s break down the combo platter: Chicken — Absolutely delicious — smoked to perfection, juicy but not overly fatty, herb– and spice-rubbed skin. Fabulous. Beans — Straight out of a can, no joke. Potato salad — Really good, didn’t overly rely on mayonnaise dressing. Had some rosemary in it. Cole slaw — Chopped tiny, runny dressing, but definitely tasty. Brisket — Fall apart tender, but sorely in need of sweet BBQ sauce. Pulled pork — Tasty and tender, but could have used some BBQ sauce. Hot sauce — I think it was Cholula… but hey I’m not complaining. Despite the unevenness of the food and the lack of items like ribs and mac n’ cheese, I would certainly come back.
