Specialties
CHOICES, Inc. is a non-profit Foster Care, Independent Living, Home-Based Services, and Mentoring agency in the Southwest Ohio region.
In our Family & Treatment Foster Care we recruit and license foster parents and train them annually to ensure the best possible care for the foster youth placed in their homes.
Independent Living is offered to former foster care youth ages 17 – 21. It is a tremendous opportunity to live in an apartment in a safe community and gain true independence. The IL program empowers our youth by teaching them self-sufficiency skills, encouraging them to maintain employment and to pursue their education goals, and guiding them in the development of decision-making.
Our Home-Based Services (HBS) program focuses on Family Conflict Resolution and Youth Transition Services. Our ultimate goal is for the child to remain in their biological home, and we have more than a 90% success rate.
We offer children’s mental health services to those families that are medicaid eligible.
History
Established in 1986.
Children Have Options in Caring Environments — was founded by Gina Frazier and Anita Johnson Patten. Led by their dreams and dedication to provide options in safe and caring environments for youth, Gina and Anita started a foster care agency. They were able to train and license five homes very quickly and provided six children with caring environments in those homes within months of opening their doors. The Foster Care Program has grown steadily over the years. In April 1988, the Independent Living Program was added. In addition to Foster Care and Independent Living, CHOICES identified ways to help even more kids and families community and added our Home-Based Services and Mentoring Programs.
