Silver Palms Inn

Wonderful hotel and an amazing location! My boyfriend and I stayed here for a vacation and really enjoyed our stay. The minimum check in age for spring break weeks is AMAZING! We didn’t have to deal with crazy undergraduate students. That fact was a huge reason why I booked here.
The location is absolutely perfect! A few blocks away from Duval St, which is the main street of downtown Key West. It’s close enough to walk but far enough away that you don’t have to deal with the noise!
The one problem we had was that they would have someone leaf blowing at 8am each morning! Why in the world?! I’m on vacation and forgive me for wanting to sleep in but that’s just madness. We would definitely stay here again as long as I was told that the leaf blower would not interrupt my sleeping time ;)

Ducked in for a weekend vacation in Key West and things were great, here’s why:
* Free water when we checked out
* Free Sangria by the pool bar upon check in
* Great service and super staff
* Great location right on Truman street and close enough to walk to Duval Street
So I think the place used to be a Fairfield Inn or some such. It is a small property. The rooms are new and clean and well appointed but were overpriced, but it was season and the start of Spring Break so that is forgivable.
The pool is nice, but tiny.
The pool bar is nice, but is plastic and rolls away, so that is a little cheesy, but they did they best with what space they have. Beers and drinks were fairly priced, so that rocks.
I dig the brushed metal artsy trim around the pool and property and the lil waterfal on the pool but that is is because they are tight for space.
All in all, good stuff.

The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. My boyfriend and I arrived a couple days before NYE for our anniversary and from the minute we arrived, everything was smooth and pleasant. The front desk employees are very polite and helpful. Anything we needed, they brought it right over, and if we were having trouble with something, they were on it right away, with no attitude. The pool area is pretty nice and there’s a bartender out there, which is awesome. There’s a simple continental breakfast in the morning in the lobby. The rooms are clean and cute, comfortable and quiet. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience here and would stay again. Oh, and it’s within walking distance to all the action on Duval St. without being too close.

Very clean rooms. Updated. Pool area is very nice and I utilized it. The pool has a small bar with beer, wine, and even frozen drinks. Reasonably prices as well. Beer $ 5-​$ 7. Wine $ 6-​$ 8. Frozen drinks $ 7. The gym is small, but no one was in there. Microwave and fridge in the room made things for convenient. Everything seems to be within walking distance. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The front desk will even help you book activities. Rooms have a small balcony, which a lot of guests used.

Very clean and spacious room with balcony. Fridge, microwave, closet, small table, desk, chair. Comfortable bed, nice shower. Choose a room away from the road if traffic noise bothers you. Continental breakfast was just average though they have fresh fruit. Coffee is mediocre. Very friendly staff.

We stayed here with our kids for a couple of days just before Christmas. Overall the hotel was very clean, beds were comfy and shower was huge! It was great to have a refrigerator and microwave in the room. The pool was nice, small but kept kids entertained. Our only «complaints» that are pretty trivial are: the continental breakfast left a lot to be desired, would have been nice to have at least a waffle maker or something. Also, the parking lot is tiny, but parking was free, so shouldn’t complain. Would stay here again.

Breakfast area was a bit packed if you get there last hour. Some food not replaced as morning wears on. You may or may not get boiled eggs. Yogurt and ham/​cheese croissants were not heated/​kept cold – major health concern. A little worried they are putting yogurt up at end of day and bringing same yogurt out next day… The warmth causes bad bacteria to go. With how many Cuban restaurants/​bakeries there are in area would hope for some fresh pastries.
Room was clean and modern. I liked the little hall we had to store bags and stroller in our room.
Parking under rooms was tight between cement pillars. If you get here past 9pm it might be hard to get a spot at all.
Nice small pool with a drink bar. Has a little waterfall.
Front desk friendly.
About a 10 – 15 minute walk to Hemingway house and the tour busses.

I like this place, you can smell, feel the clean everywhere. Received a couple of free drinks poolside, the waterfalls were exceptional, ten minutes under these relaxed my neck muscles after the long ride down. It was an easy trip from Fort Lauderdale. Bed was comfortable and welcoming after dinner on Duvall Street.

Silver Palms Inn is an all-​welcoming (i.e. LGBT guests will be comfortable here) boutique property that is just three blocks from Duval Street. And despite being open since 2010, they do a great job of keeping the property looking brand new.
The guestrooms are all spacious and Key West chic. In addition, there is a nice size pool, a fitness room, dining area for complimentary breakfast, and wi-​fi and on-​site parking that is included with your room. I was also told they are planning some upgrades to the physical property and to guest services in the near future. It’s also important to note that the room prices are very competitive (bordering on cheap).
In regards to the handful of poor reviews, it was pretty clear to me when reading them that many of these folks were just bad guests and/​or have no experience with other hotels in Key West (this was my 15^th visit).

Nice place but they need to open the bar earlier so you can have a mimosa with breakfast. The bar opens at 12 and closes at 7.

Staff is really friendly. The room was absolutely SOOOO nice that I wouldn’t mind coming back here to stay. It wasn’t too far from duval street and just a block or two away there is a 24 hour CVS.
Free continental breakfast was awesome but get there early (like 7AM) or else the food will run out quick! Breakfast options included coffee, tea, orange juice, cereal, croissants, fruit tarts, pastries with chocolate in it, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, mixed fruit, toast, and bagels. I’m probably missing some and they probably don’t have the same type of stuff everyday but they started running out of croissants and fruit by 8:45 so again, get there early to get what you want and to avoid waiting in line! It’s starts to get cramped!
The pool is smaller than expected but still really cute.

Very clean and unexpectedly reasonable rates. Staff is awesome and always with a smile. Close enough to Duval St to walk or bike but far enough away to sit back and relax. Online reservations were easy even while making them in the car on Alligator Alley on the way down.

don’t get all the hype about this hotel. There are a few things I don’t like about this place, first, why is the pool open only from sunrise to sunset? What if people want to go for a swim after dinner?
Why can’t you bring food and drinks to the pool? The guests should have the option to bring food to the pool if they want and have the option to purchase alcohol at the pool bar or bring their own alcohol. The pool bar hours are short too. People are on vacation here!
Third, why was coffee in the lobby only available during breakfast hour? Coffee is dirt cheap and should be available whenever people want
Fourth, the city view balcony we got was a tiny balcony. Not much room for you to relax. And no view at all
Fifth, the bathroom smelled very moldy. At first we thought it was because it was too wet but later realize the smell came from the drain.
Sixth, the control for the ac is very hard to use and confusing!
Last, the cable quality was awful. They had a flat screen TV but the picture quality was bad
Putting all the bad aside, the good, the free parking was nice and they allowed us to check in early. Breakfast options was limited but enough options of different types of bread and pastries.
Overall, I would suggest you to pay a little more and stay at Santa Maria around the area.

OK. I’m very picky about my hotel accommodations. The staff at Silver Palms could give lessons to others.
At check in, the front desk person was pleasant, patient, and made sure we had everything we needed. She not only answered our questions, but asked a few questions to get a feel for our itinerary and assisted us.
This hotel is located near the center of Key West and has more than adequate parking. We parked the car the first day and walked the 2 days we were there… and nothing was very far away.
The rooms are modern, clean, and well organized.
We didn’t swim, but the pool area was very nice and the staff attentive. I would give this place 6 stars if I could.

What a great place to stay and centrally located! Although I have stayed closer to historic seaport, it wasn’t an issue since one walks or bikes on the island anyway. Duval St is a few short blocks away. I did the continental breakfast once. There was a great selection of breakfast foods. If you drive in, there is parking. I always found a spot for my rental car. The place is very clean. The rooms are decoratively crisp with a great combination of colors. Although I didn’t use the pool I did lounge out for some time to plan my day. More about this later. My room was centrally located in the center of the hotel facing Truman Ave. This may bother some if you are an early bird or not used to hearing traffic. This is common for me. Housekeeping came late in the day, usually around 3:00pm to 4:00pm. They are very accommodating here. I really loved the three shower heads! Another plus about our room is it was very private.
So here are two recommendations that will make this hotel even better. It lacks a lounge area in the lobby. I’m guessing a trade off for the continental breakfast.
The other suggestion is better WiFi reception on the 3^rd floor. This was severely lacking or non existent from our room. It made planning the day from within our room a slight chore. The reception was not an issue in the lobby or by the pool.
In all, I highly recommend the Silver Palms Inn and will stay here again.

If you want to take a break from the major hotel chains and stay at a family friendly «inn», I highly recommend this place. I utilized positive reviews to help me choose a place to stay, within walking distance to Duval Street, and they didn’t disappoint. The room was modern, clean and comfy. My ONLY «con» for this establishment is the limited breakfast options for the complimentary breakfast that is served between 0630 – 1000. But, as a free breakfast goes, it served its purpose.

We just got back from our Anniversary trip to KW. We stayed at the Silver Palms Inn this weekend based on the reviews and I am so glad we did. Our room was great, clean and modern. The whole staff was super friendly. I loved that the hotel had bikes to rent right on site. The hotel is just a couple of blocks from Duval. Close enough to walk but far enough from the crowds. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is the breakfast. It needs improvement, even for a continental breakfast.
Super happy with our choice to stay here. DEFINITELY coming back next time we visit KW.

The management at the Silver Palms Inn chooses to let its housekeeping keep your goods to the detriment of its customers. If you read other low reviews and low Tripadvisor reviews, you will see that management/​staff is unhelpful when ANYTHING goes wrong and allows housekeeping to keep forgotten goods or outright steals this. I left a hoodie on the desk chair on the day I left. I checked in with hotel twice and the staff said nothing had turned up and that housekeeping ALWAYS brings goods to the desk. Unfortunately, length of employment does not mean employees are honest.
The part that makes no sense is that this hoodie was lined with fleece and the only thing I had to wear back to cold Midwest this freezing winter. I cannot buy another warm coat in South Florida.
$ 300 for a room could mean a ground floor room next to the public bathrooms and no elevated view. Additionally, the wifi strength is poor from the rooms. The rooms are clean.
If you are concerned about the safety of your goods and housekeeping, do yourself a favor and don’t stay here. Yes, there is an in-​room safe, but who puts a hoodie in a safe?

Checked in at 5:30pm. There wasn’t a line and the girl at that front was nice. It was a speedy check in because we purchased through Orbitz and we paid $ 156 a night for a king bed. We are from Seattle so thats a pretty standard price for us.
We got a King bed with a room overlooking Truman st. I might just be immune to city noise but i couldn’t hear anything but we are in the off season in October so that might be it. Also they provide ear plugs since the island has so many roosters but we didn’t have to use them.
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The sheets were piling so they were a little scratchy. Might be time to buy new sheets of better quality. The room was large with a balcony.
The hotel was «green» so the a/​c and power are linked to your room key being placed in a censor by the door. We appreciate hotels trying to be green.
The pool seemed a good size with nice furniture around it. It is open from sunrise to sunset. We took dip after sunset and no one gave us a hard time. It was nice and goes to 4.5 feet deep. My only complaint about the pool is that it is the hotels only smoking area is around the pool so it’s mostly just filled with people standing around smoking.
The wifi is pretty decent and the sattelite tv is nice but has about 30 channels.
We rented bikes at the front desk. This is the best and most inexpensive way to get around key west. The bikes were 12.99 for a day which means you must return it by 8pm. It is 18.99 if you want it for a complete 24 hours. This is the best rate we could find and its nice to just return it in the lobby of the hotel.
The checkout was easy. I would stay here again if I went to Key West.

This place looks amazing! It’s a modern day inn in a old town of buildings. The one thing I really liked about this inn was that they had an iPod/​iPhone dock in the room! Which was amazing!
Their breakfast was okay. I got a cheese croissant, and coffee. (I’ve begun to realize that if I’m going to go on vacation, I’m going to need a cup of coffee every morning) They did have an assortment of cheeses, including pepperjack, swiss, and cheddar.
They even have a pool, which I didn’t go into, because we only stayed one night. And they have wi-​fi. Unfortunately, the wi-​fi wasn’t as good, because we are in the back of the inn, but when I stepped out onto the balcony I got good wi-​fi reception.
And the good thing was that they have a coffee maker in the room, and I was feeling sick the night we got there, and I brewed myself a cup of tea, and it was pretty good.
I would say the only downside to this place is the price. It was around $ 240 for one night, which is even expensive by Vegas standards.
