The Flying Monkey is barely average when compared to other options in Key West. The best bet is to stick with the popular, but over-priced, frozen drinks.

We always make sure we stop here(more than once) when visiting Key West… If you’re over 21, you should too! The drinks are amazing, fresh, tasty and potent! They have many interesting flavors that stand alone PERFECTLY! But they also have so many mix ideas that put the individual flavors together to make something truly great! The staff is also always friendly and it’s the perfect place to people watch all the awesome folks walking up and down Duvall!

Great find among all of the restaurants in this area. Quaint and away from all the noise this is the place to go. Food is all homemade and tastes awesome! We stuffed ourselves!

Every flavor of frozen beverage imaginable. You name it, they have it. Saw all the beverages churning and had to see what was up. Decided to go with the $ 10 cup, to enjoy $ 7 refills. The bartender honored us as we asked to try nearly every flavor available. I settled on Pina Colada and it was delicious. I murdered 2 while sitting at the bar and took one for the bike ride back to the hotel. The friendly staff even topped us off before we left. Worth stopping in to cool off.

Four stars for some pretty awesome frozen drinks. It reminded me so much of being in New Orleans where a place like this can be found on every block! I am a super fan of any combination of banana and chocolate and when I saw the«Dirty Monkey» option on the menu(combo of the«Chocohol» and«Banana Breeze») I was sold. Don’t know why, but I really love the name of the place as well. So much so that I bought a sweatshirt in the gift shop(for $ 25.00 — which frankly, for a souvenir shop in Key West, is cheap for a hoodie). Came back here a couple times for a quick frozen drink fix. Brain freeze is a quick remedy for too much sun and heat!

Food was great but the table next to us was smoking the entire time. Didn’t know you can smoke in a resturaunts in Key West. Smelling like snow ash tray ruined it. Staff looked at them 10 times send said nothing. Bummer. Won’t be back. We stink now!

This place is awesome! The drinks are great and not outrageously expensive. Beth is one of the coolest bartenders I’ve ever met!

Great drinks! They are all in slushie machines pre made. The place is mainly outdoor. There are bar seats right by the restaurant fence facing the sidewalk directly.

This is an ok bar. If you like slush i.e. Drinks you will be in heaven. They have all types and they are mixed with ever clear. The bartenders are ok. No quite as attentive as others. They were a bit busy but they would come by and not acknowledge for 5 minutes. Once we were served it was a nice place to relax.

Much like NOLA, it seems like one has to have some sort of frozen, slushy alcoholic drink when in Key West, and The Flying Monkey serves such a purpose. I ordered the Miami Vice, piña colada w/strawberry daiquiri, and it was ok. The good news is that there was definitely alcohol in it, which is not always a given considering that many establishments skimp on the alcohol when they serve slushies. That was definitely not the case here, as there was perhaps too much alcohol in the drink. But I’d rather have too much than too little, especially given the prices. The best part of The Flying Monkey however, is the people watching. It’s located right in the heart of all the action in Key West and is a great spot to watch all the craziness that is taking place around you. The reason for the 3 stars is partially due to the fact that frozen alcoholic slushies aren’t my thing, and more importantly, the drink I had wasn’t that great. But if you are into frozen slushies, and you want to people watch on Duval — this is a good spot to check-out.

Based on the service of the bar, I would give this place a miss! We came for a frozen cocktail and were sat at an empty bar with 2 bartenders in front of us for 10 minutes & nobody welcomed us or took our drink order??? I had to get off my bar stool to walk to the end of the bar to the women cutting up limes to ask her if anyone was actually serving on the bar? There was another guy stocking up the beer immediately in front of us who had ignored us as well. The women just looked up and said ‘yeah sure, what do you want?’ — how about you walk up to my husband and I and take our orders instead of me coming to you? I didn’t know what my husband wanted, I assumed she would put down her lime and come over and serve? It was 6pm and the bar was empty, would it kill you to do your job? It then took a further 5 minutes to get our drinks — and then you are expected to tip?! It was only as we finished our drinks and got up to leave that the barman actually spoke to us and said thanks for coming in, bye! What a terrible experience. Really left a sour taste in my mouth.

Flying Monkeys was fantastic! Great spot to cool off, relax and drink. Our server was fantastic and made multiple recommendations of drinks to order. She also gave us samples to try. Great selection of drinks. Floater is a must have!

Best PINACOLADA in key west!!! $ 10 for the refillable souvenir coozie mug with, totally worth it when it’s 90+ degree out there! $ 7 to refill thereafter! Piña colada 3 days in a row for me(2 – 3 refills/day!), have tried others but nothing catches my tongue :) You can actually taste the coconut bits and most importantly it’s very frozen considered it’s super hot out! I have gotten other melted Piña colada before and believe me, it’s not great… Ask for taster cups to taste all other flavors!

It’s a beach bar. Frozen drinks, outdoor seating and loud music. The frosty drinks had a definite suck-pinch effect that sent Momma-K into fits of the giggles and gave me a ‘check your sense of reality at the door’ kinda feel but what do you want? The wait staff worked hard and was friendly. Al-in-all, I cannot complain. It is what it is. The drinks will sure as anything cool you down, the food will stop hunger, the music is serviceable, so ‘it’s all good’.

My partner and I were in Key West for a week, and Flying Monkey was one of our favorite places for a cold drink. A lot of the margaritas and frozen drinks are in town are made from processed foods, but at the Flying Monkey, they use only fresh and high-quality ingredients — and that makes all the difference. Flying Monkey is located on Duval Street, so it’s basically accessible from anywhere. The frozen drinks are $ 7, if I remember correctly, but $ 5 for locals and military members. Lots of variety in the flavors, and they had a menu of all the drink concotions. They’re proud of their frozen drinks, and I don’t blame them. I didn’t eat here, I just ordered drinks to go. They have reusable commemorative cups, but I won’t lie like I kept any. :) Five stars for the drinks, but I can’t comment on the food.

Free samples. The bartender was very patient with me :) Very strong drinks. Maybe it was this batch they made strong. First sip you feel the alcohol infusion In your into your cheeks. Is a little over bearing. The alcohol hinders the actual fruit flavor. Price is fair. Atmosphere is chill.

This was the second stop on the Pub Crawl excursion. It is a decent sized outdoor bar ~ maybe about 10 or so stools to sit directly at the bar and a number of tables and chairs to accommodate the additional traffic. Here, I chose the drink affectionately known as the grain train. I’m told that the grain train is made with 3 different grain alcohols… nice and strong. Who could resist such a beautiful slushy beverage? I was not at all disappointed. The bar tender was pretty cool as well. Excursion or not, if you’re in Key West, I definitely recommend stopping by The Flying Monkey… unless it is raining, of course.
