Beer has its own life and culture, with a rich history dating back to 6000 B.C. A Craft Beer is one made with the enthusiasm and passion to be different, outside of the norm. A Craft Brewer is one that takes a beer from history and puts a spin on it to make it their own. A Brewer that only uses the highest quality ingredients in the effort to create a beer that can be enjoyed by many.

Whether you are a beer aficionado or just to explore and learn more about your favorite beverage, we have the right beer for you. And our staff is well trained and ready to explain the difference between an IPA and a Porter, and even give you a little background and history of the beer you are about to enjoy. They’ll also describe the style, give you a sample of one on draft, and then recommend a few others.

We take our commitment to provide you with a friendly and knowledgeable staff very seriously. This all adds to a great customer experience.

History

Established in 2013.

In 2007, two friends and aspiring businessmen from Pensacola, Florida, Scott Zepp and Matt LaFon, opened the doors of their bar and retail establishment, World of Beer, to the public. Located in the community of Westchase in Tampa, FL, the concept was warmly embraced by the community. In fact, the interest in this unique concept was so profound that inquiries about how others could open a World of Beer in their neighborhood came in sooner and more frequently than Matt and Scott had anticipated. After much thought, they decided that the most effective way to bring their experience and concept to other communities was to grow the business through franchising.

Then in 2010, Scott and Matt joined forces with former Outback Steakhouse president Ben Novello and former Outback Steakhouse Executive Jim Pollard to help take the brand national. In January of 2013 World of Beer announced the appointment of Paul Avery as President and Chief Executive Officer.

Longtime residents of Westchase, Brendon and Carole have known and enjoyed the original location for several years. They recognized it not only as a fun neighborhood bar, but also as an incredible business opportunity, and as the concept grew they began to think of markets where they could bring the concept. In Florida, Key West seemed like a logical place.

Brendon and Carole approached friend Craig to see if he was interesting in partnering with them in the venture. Having always seen a tremendous opportunity of the World of Beer Concept, and wanting to move into store ownership, Craig jumped at the chance. Craig has been involved with World of Beer since before the first franchise store opened in 2009, and has been an integral part of World of Beer’s tremendous growth.

Thus, World of Beer — Key West was born.
