Dave’s Metal Detecting

I am in Maui with my Fiancée two months before our wedding day. I was wiped out by a big wave in the water and my ring was swept off my hand. I was absolutely heart broken, the men packing away the cabanas gave me Dave’s info, he was here within 40 minutes and searched even after we had given up hope and told him he could head home. He called us within an hour or so after we went back to our room and told us he found it. I am so grateful for his hard work, sympathy and dedication to what he does. I’m so filled with joy that I will get to have my ring on my wedding day. Thank you Dave for saving our vacation and so much more.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars… I was playing football and my wedding ring flys off in the ocean. Not a good thing when I’m on vacation celebrating my anniversary. Dave was recommended to me by my hotel. I called Dave and he was there ready to go within 20 minutes. Dave worked his magic and found my ring within 10 minutes! Your the man, thanks again Dave!

Dave is an absolute hero! I lost the only copy of our rental car key at Baldwin beach last night (dammit!!) and we had to get the car towed to the rental place, and they were going to charge us A LOT to get a factory re-​key !! We searched for over an hour for the damn thing, retracing our steps till it was too dark & we left the beach dejected.
This morning we met Dave and he found our key in minutes… buried in about 3inches of sand near where we’d camped. HERO of our trip!
I hope you don’t lose anything on Maui, but if you do, CALL DAVE!!!

If you’ve lost a piece of jewelry on the beaches of Maui then Dave should be your first call. We found him via a Google search shortly after losing a wedding ring in rough water. He was with us the next morning and went looking while we were off on an excursion. A couple of hours later and we get a text — ring found! Dave came out to see us again a couple of days later when he was back on our side of the Island to reunite us with the ring. A great professional and a lovely guy as well. Thanks, Dave!

On our one year wedding anniversary, I mentioned that my husband should wear his wedding ring to the beach. Big mistake — at the end of the day we realized it was no longer on his finger and we had no idea whether he’d lost it in the water or somewhere on the beach. We called Dave and he promptly responded and was ready to come out whenever we wanted. We waited for 3 days, thinking that it would turn up somewhere. When we finally broke down and had Dave come to the beach, we showed him everywhere we’d been and within a couple hours he found the ring in knee deep water. We had so little hope of finding the ring and it meant so much to get it back. Our biggest regret is not having him come out sooner. Thank you Dave!!!

Dave got to me in Lahaina so quick and found my wedding band in a matter of minutes with the help of his little son! Very nice guy and a great price for getting my ring back. Recommend to everyone in Maui call this guy!

My husband lost his wedding ring today while snorkeling during our honeymoon. We were devastated, and I thought the ring was gone forever. Luckily, a couple on the beach told us to google a guy who takes a metal detector in the ocean to find your ring. We did so and found Dave. We could not be more happy or grateful for this recommendation! Although Dave couldn’t make it, he sent one of his colleagues. He found the ring within 30 — 45 minutes!!! We were so thrilled! If you lose anything metal in the ocean, call Dave; he is the man for the job!

Thank you Dave! Ever since we got back from our honeymoon with my husband’s wedding ring safely in hand, we’ve been telling everyone the story of how the ring spent a night in the Pacific, and was happily found the next day! They have all been absolutely amazed and impressed — as we were too.
After my husband lost his ring in the ocean, I thought it was long gone (the hotel seemed to think so, too). Feeling a bit down, we went online to read other sad lost ring stories, and fortuitously found Dave on Unilocal.He said he would come early the following morning, and that if we knew where we lost it, he could find it (because the ring would sink to the bottom, and not be swept away by the current above it). Just hearing that, seeing all these five star reviews, and knowing that he was going to search the next day gave us peace of mind and we were able to enjoy the luau that night.
The next morning, Dave searched diligently for at least a couple hours before we realized we had him looking in the wrong place. Even though he had already been at it for awhile, he agreed to try again at the new location — and lo and behold, ten minutes later he found it! We were so happy and took a great celebratory photo. We are so grateful to Dave that he did not give up.
Advice to all honeymooners: Don’t swim with your ring on, even if the water is calm. The cold water causes your finger to shrink, and if the ring is not sized properly, it can easily slip off. Then, the waves will push you away from the spot and it will be very difficult to find, even with a mask.
But…if you do happen to lose a ring in the ocean, just stay calm and make note of your exact location on the beach (look for a landmark nearby and «draw» a visual line in the sand). Then, call Dave!

My most embarrassing event in Maui: The moment I come out of the surf after riding shorebreak with my daughter and realizing I don’t have my wedding ring! Thanks to Dave for saving the day and finding my heavy tungsten carbide ring under a layer of waves and a foot of sand… Something we tried fruitlessly to do with mask and snorkel.

Lost my wedding ring first day in Maui in the ocean. Called Dave the NEXT day and he came out and found it in the surf. Can’t thank him enough. Super nice guy saved our honeymoon.

Dave is awesome! He found my car keys in about 5 minutes after I had been searing in the sand for hours. If you lose anything don’t waste your time looking, just call dave! He is the best!

So in a sequence of unfortunate events, I ended up losing my gopro camera in a lagoon probably 15 – 20 feet deep that was at end of a hike that probably took 45 – 60 minutes each way. I called Dave and he agreed to come with me back to the hike the very next day to try to retrieve my camera. He was prompt (we met first thing in the morning) and was a really friendly guy which was nice as we made our way to the lagoon at the end of the trail. Unfortunately it had rained the night before and the lagoon was too murky to see anything at the bottom so we were unable to find my camera but Dave promised to try again later in the week even though I had to fly out the next day. A couple days after flying back home I get a text from Dave with a picture of him and my gopro! Best feeling ever! Could not be happier with his service and would absolutely recommend him to anyone who happened to be unfortunate enough to lose a valuable.

Dave, saved my wedding ring!!! I lost my band next day after wedding on Black rock. Though this would not happen to me. It did. So I found Dave’s number and called. He ve been so nice to come same day at night to help me. Couldn’t ask for more. Very very happy. This is the kind of people you want to meet more often. :)

Like an idiot on the second day we were here I went in the ocean with my wedding ring on and it fell off my hand. I looked for hours and even recruited some local snorkelers to help me find it. No such luck. Feeling stupid and melancholy I started googling lost rings in Maui and found Dave’s Metal Detecting. Mike in the picture came out and found my ring 8 inches deep in the sand in five feet of water !! I would have never found it. I am so happy they found my ring ! This company is absolutely incredible and please let them be the first you call if you have the same issue. The highlight of my vacation, well that and MAUI!

I first contacted Dave when I lost my wedding ring while surfing in Maui (My wife even warned me!). I asked if he rented the metal detecting gear and was so helpful in teaching me the best way to go about looking. Needless to say, it was the hardest thing I’ve done in my life! The waves were crashing on my head, couldn’t see a thing and I didn’t know if I was even looking in the right area. After an hour I eventually gave up.
When I went to return the gear we talked for a bit and I asked if he could take a look. He had no hesitation whatsoever and seemed anxious to get back in the water to do what he loves. First off, he knew the island like the back of his hand. I’ve never been to Maui so I had to explain where exactly I thought I lost it and he knew right where to look. After almost 3 days of searching he actually found it! It was the most amazing feeling when he sent me a text with him holding the ring I put on only a week before losing it.
If you are ever in the same situation give Dave a call, he really does love returning property to it’s owner.

Dave saved the day! My husband (who is NEVER allowed to hold the keys again) lost my keys at Napili Bay. We wasted our time searching in the sand when we should have called Dave! ! Don’t lose hope. .call Dave!

Dave saved our trip!!! We were crushed when my husband lost his wedding ring snorkeling at Black Rock. First thing the next morning, Dave was out there in the water with his high tech equipment, and less than an hour later, we had our ring back! If you find yourself in this situation USE DAVE!!!
