Texas Humane Heroes finds homes for dogs and cats rescued from over-​crowded local municipal shelters. With your help, we save these animals and prepare them for adoption into a loving, forever home.

Texas Humane Heroes operates adoption centers in Central Texas, located in the greater Austin metropolitan area and the Fort Hood/​Killeen area. Texas Humane Heroes is 100% funded by donations, grants, and modest fees for services. We do not receive any local or federal government funding.

Over 95% of the animals saved, come from local municipal shelters that kill for space. Texas Humane Heroes draws families and individuals across Texas, who seek to adopt dogs or cats, utilize low-​cost spay/​neuter and vaccination clinics, or attend numerous community events.

I have rescued and adopted animals my entire life. The staff here are great! I found out the cat my family wanted to adopt was transferred to this location. I called them and told them we were on our way. We were greeted warmly and they appear to genuinely care about the animals there. I loved their enthusiasm. :) I wish all shelters were lucky enough to have staff this great. I received all of the medical paperwork and they took the time to read through it with me in case I had questions. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

They are awesome. They are awesome for what they do. I’m an animal person & yes pit bulls included so don’t come around me with the pits are dangerous BS, I will put you in your spot real fast. If you’ve never owned one or you are a piss poor excuse of an owner, don’t try to define something you’re oblivious to. There are two locations for this specific Humane Society but you CANNOT surrender your pet here. They can provide you with a lot of info on adoption, fostering, low cost spay & neuter. If you’re looking for a fur baby, you should consider giving one of these animals another chance. Do your research. Come by & do a meet & greet with these furballs. There’s no obligation but you’ll fall in love. I know I did. I appreciate what this place does because like a human, I don’t want to see either euthanized or homeless. Thanks THH Team. You truly are heroes.

I got mg Benny from here going on a year ago and I love him soooo much they were very helpful for me to find a cat I would love and for $ 50 for micro chip and all shots plus insurance for 15 – 30 days on him. My only wish is I got him sooner he is my little sweet heart!

This place has improved so much since it changed over from Second Chance. Disease control is a big priority and the clinic looks immaculate. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable. The animals are very well cared for but are looking for forever homes so go check them out! I have adopted 3 cats from them as well as volunteered and my experience has always been great, both as a customer and a volunteer. Just watch out for the driveway entrance: it’s a very narrow opening and if you’re driving too fast (the speed limit on that road is 55mph) you might miss it. If you do, to make a U-​turn you must pass it, and then make another U-​turn down the road because the roads are separated by very long medians.

Very clean facility. Dogs are well kempt and workers are extremely knowledgeable. We adopted a great dog a few weeks ago. Check it out. They have a thursday special: half off adoption fees!
