Quality Inn

Stay far away. I had extended stay. Dirty sheets and towels. They smelled and had stains. Pillows are $ 2 from Walmart and smell. AC doesn’t work. Bath tub is rotted out and shower installed over. Mildew smell every where. Wifi did not work. Owner told me to call his tech support for him. No customer service. Lost reservation for extension. Claimed racism when said I can’t understand their English. Then son cussed out and threatens. Breakfast is left out for weeks (old cereal and maybe a bagel). Worst experience ever. You have to agree with reviews on all sites. The good ones are written by their son. He is full of hate for this country. Parking lots is shady after dark and loud w/​people drinking and what not. Drive past!

In my lifetime I have stayed at 46 different properties and I may only be in my early 30s but have NEVER experienced a hotel quite like this one in this small, but dangerous town of King City, CA. As of 2013 it shows the town’s population is 13,248 (more than half the size of my hometown that I was born and raised in) but there are 28 unsolved murders since 1999 including this year! You would be staying in the murder capitol of California in this filthy, terrible Quality Inn that I unfortunately had to stay in one night. I only found out this information after I got online. This is of course, NOT a 5 star resort but it doesn’t even match the many Choice hotels I have stayed at in other parts of the country. It’s quality alright but terrible quality.
I was on a road trip vacation with my dad in the state and had every hotel booked in advance looked carefully upon except King City because of the questionable hotel reviews in the area. I found out that there were only 2 rooms left in this town when checking in late that night. Unfortunately there was only one room here in the Quality Inn, which was a smoking room and one at the Motel 6 (which I knew had worse reviews prior) so I took this hotel while my dad took the latter.
Basically, to sum this up as a one sentence to summarize what went wrong was this: there was dried blood on the sheets (gross!), dirty smoke burnt marked towels, changed mind on late checkout, and very rude staff with the smallest breakfast area I’ve ever been in! I was too tired to try and and argue with the man who didn’t speak good English to ask for new sheets/​towels so just went to bed.
When I checked in, I presented my Triple A card and asked for a noon checkout which the man said yes to. However, the next morning I received a phone call at around 10:15 am rushing me out saying somebody wanted the room and that I had to pack my things ASAP. It was further followed by a knock on the door 15 minutes later from an old white man asking me to leave/​hurry up. So they lied to me about the late checkout time! I once stayed at a hotel in Adams, WI where I asked a late shift worker for a noon checkout and he rudely said no, so the next morning I called the manager and she extended it herself (which tells you that guy lied and was too tired/​rude to do the position properly).
At the breakfast area there was only two tables which were both full so I had to sit on a bench to eat. The man who was at the front desk in the same lobby wasn’t doing anything but staring straight ahead at everyone with no smile on his face (not managing the area or showing people how to prepare the food) so I just had plain bread and bacon leaving hungry going to Denny’s with my dad. It was quite something, usually people are talking and having a good time but nobody talked — it was very eerie.
Also apparently this is a hotel that requires people to stay at the checkout desk while the front desk person gets a room check. None of the other properties I stayed in did this so I found this quite inconvenient. I was running late to another appointment on my vacation so I just told her I had to go.
When I tried to resolve these issues when I got home, they were very rude to me on the phone and actually hung up on me even though I was being polite. Never had I had a hotel as unprofessional as to where the staff actually did this. I don’t think anybody should stay here and that the hotel inspector needs to condemn this place, honestly.

Great spot. Clean, not noisy, no sketchy stuff in the parking lot or tweakers, flush continental breakfast, ACs that worked. What else modern. Super comfy beds after a day of outdoors activities with lots of pillows.

There is something seriously wrong with the people on this block. They have no compunction about lying, cheating customers, or treating them like fecal matter (after all, this is Unilocal) — this goes for the owners of the Days Inn across the street.
I’d earlier made reservations through
for the Days Inn across the street (read my review about what «they» did). When I arrived at Days Inn they said they had no reservation so I called Expedia and they (gratefully) comped me a hotel across the street — the «Quality» Inn. The «comp» was because they kept me on the phone for almost three hours.
I was on the California AIDS Lifecycle, a bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, so there were literally no rooms in the area because of the other bicyclists who chose not to camp. I would have been left hanging had it not been for the room across the street. I checked in, all went well, checked out the next day, got on my bike to ride about 67 miles to Paso Robles, and checked into the next hotel.
That afternoon I received a call from «Chandra» from the Quality Inn in King City and he said he did not receive a payment from Expedia and that he wanted my credit card number so he could charge the room to my card. I told him that I would prefer to check with Expedia, whereupon he became irate and said that if I did not pay him that he would call the authorities. Knowing that he only had my phone number, I told him to do what he wanted; but, I still wanted to check with Expedia. Chandra told me, «Criss, I’m a nice guy, I don’t know why you want to screw me» (yuck). My response to him was, «This is how nice you are, a group of people visit your town to raise money for a great cause, so you jack up the price of your rooms by almost 400%. I don’t consider that to be nice.» Chandra said that what he charges for rooms is none of my business, and he hung up, and proceed to call me every half an hour. I finally reached Expedia and a representative told me that payment had been cleared by him and that they would give him a call.
Guess what, he told them «yes,» he had called me; however, he said that he never called about payment and that I was mistaken. The miserable and greedy SOB didn’t tell them the truth. Speaking of truth, who in their right mind is going to give this dump in the middle nowhere, 4 or 5 stars. Picture that person in your mind, and imagine that you might be sleeping in the same bed they might have slept in.
Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s a way around these people being as despicable as they are because there are a limited number of hotels in the area and they know it.

So here’s the deal. We arrived very late last night (1am) and LOVED everything about the room. Quiet, clean and wonderfully comfy beds, especially the pillows. And then there was the unfortunate breakfast incident. My niece had woken up early and had breakfast at 8am and knew what had been offered. The rest of us arrived at 9:10am for the last 20 minutes of breakfast. There were three pieces of bread, one bagel, cream cheese at room temperature, rancid stale cereal and fruit. The waffle batter was empty, no hard boiled eggs, no sausage, cold coffee and the orange juice was chunky, not pulpy, but unstirred concentrate chunky. We rang the front desk bell three times (in about five minutes) before someone came out and when we asked if they were bringing out more food the wench snapped «just be patient!» Whoa dude! Didn’t see that coming. Then a man came out to replenish waffle batter and we asked if there were any more sausage… his nasty reply came fast and hard: «I only have two hands, relax!». WT? Eventually food was replenished and all was well (ish) in the world. When the breakfast service ended at 9:30, the table next to us was queried if they needed anything else, and we were ignored. Despite our slowly dissipating shock on how we were treated, we bussed our tables, thinking we were taking the higher road and then get this… the man saw the ¼th portion of leftover Log Cabin fructose syrup we threw out, and tore us new ones for wasting it. OMG! He was going to reconstitute our used syrup, which my 4 yr old curious niece had dipped her fingers into at one point. My advice? Stay in great comfort here at your own risk of being treated very, very poorly for merely being hungry.

Good value for the money. Rooms were clean and no odor at all. The free breakfast was perfect and what was expected. Glad we found this room for the night.

I called this hotel on Oct. 9^th to reserve a room with two beds for the 11^th of Oct. 2014 and I even gave my credit card number over the phone to pay for the room. I was given a conformation number over the phone. I told the man on the phone that my family and I would be driving over 6 hrs to get there and depending on the traffic, I would need a late check-​in. He said that wasn’t a problem, but marked it down on my reservation anyway. So, we arrived at the hotel at 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 11^th and was told by the rude man at the counter that he didn’t have my reservation number or my name on the list. I was quite surprised at this so he acted like he was doing some more checking and then claimed that I made the reservation for the 5^th and 6^th of October! He was very short with us and quite rude, unhelpful and adamant that I did not have a reservation. Then I asked him if my credit card was charged and he looked at my information and said «No.» So, he did infact have my information! Basically, he sold our room to someone else! He wasn’t helpful in suggesting any where else to go, he fankly didn’t give a shit if all four of us slept in our car! Please don’t stay here if you can help it. And if you do, good luck in keeping your reservation when you arrive! there are plenty of other hotels in the area, unfortunately since its the only city with hotels in the area, you won’t have a lot of choice. there are other hotels in Salinas and Monterey. We stayed here for a work trip and found this hotel very good — great amenities. Above all the bed and pillows were very comfortable — nice looking, clean, in good shape and high-​quality. The room came with a pretty large fridge, a microwave, and a big flatscreen TV and was clean and modern looking. A decent continental breakfast was provided in the morning in the lobby. We were here for a place to spend the night, not as a destination, so we did not use the pool (not very attractive) or have a lot of interaction with the front desk, but we were very happy with our choice.

The WORSE customer experience EVER! Owners Chanda and Nina should NOT be in the hospitality business. I would not stay here. go elsewhere where YOUR business and YOU are appreciated!

If you want customer service do not come here these people are the rudest managers. I would go to the Days Inn across the street or anywhere but here.

I stayed in this hotel for 1 night and will not stay again. Room was dirty, and dated. I stayed on the first floor, hotel felt safe but overall I felt like it just wasn’t clean. I am working in King City but if gas wasn’t so expensive id travel 50 miles north or south to Paso Robles or Salinas. I’m now staying at Keefers Inn in King City, and I’d rate that a 3 star, not much better.

This is a great spot to stay after a long day on the road. Didn’t have high expectations other than to rest and head out to Monterrey Bay. Don’t expect soundproof walls, but it stayed quiet all night long. The rooms were clean and neat. Nice TV. Beds were great to sleep on and sheets smelled fresh. Didn’t give it a five because nothing is ever perfect. But I got my money’s worth on Memorial Day weekend. Stay here and move on.

The reviews of this hotel span the breadth of 1 star to 5 stars. Hmmm. My experience was a good one. The room I stayed in (217), 2^nd floor in the back, was quiet, extremely clean and neat, It was an updated room, comfortable bed, nice bedspread and linens and it had a large big screen TV. I did not try the WiFi. The grounds were well kept, albeit plain and the heated pool was clean and well-​maintained and the breakfast options were generous.
No, this is not the 4 Seasons, nor is that the targeted clientele. This is an excellent value for the money and during my visit the staff was cordial and helpful, which would seem to be the exact opposite of some of the other reviewer’s experiences. So, it would seem that results may vary. ;-). In any case, the question you must always answer is would you stay there again and the answer is absolutely, no question about it, YES. Highly recommended for the value minded traveler. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the breakfast area is small and a group of ten traveling together arrived en mass and there was no place to sit. Happy travels.

This place is great. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in the area and I always seem to come back to this one. The staff is great and my rooms are always in great shape. I love that they always have breakfast served at 6:30am sharp. The place is family owned which make it easy to get whatever you need when you ask. I have pulled up with no reservation before and they gave me a great deal. I don’t plan to stay in any other hotel in the area again. I have learned my lesson and looked around enough. Quality Inn it is.

HORRIBLE experience. I have never been treated so rude as a guest at a hotel. These people were so rude! I had to check in around midnight and they have no nighttime manager and I had to knock and knock and even call the hotel until someone finally came then they acted like I was inconveniencing them. They were not flexible for a late check-​out. Then they charged me more than quoted. Such rude owners — no gratitude for their customers whatsoever. If I could give them 0 stars I would.

WORSTTTT Hotel Ever!!! I came into the the hotel about 9pm to check in and was greeted RUDELY by female staff member. Ignoring her rudeness i checked into my room to began to get settled a few minutes later my family who was staying at the park in their RV decided to come to my room. no more than 30 seconds after they walked into the room the phone began to ring. It was the hotel manger demanding that my guests leave in 30 minutes! i have never been to a hotel that does not allow you to have a guest in your room. I walked over to the office and began to explain that they were not staying the night they just came over to hang out for a bit. Instead of a calm reaction the hotel manager and what seem to be his son and wife began demanding we pay for additional people etc etc. I have never been treated with such disrespect and checked out the same night. I also asked for NoN-​Smoking and the room reeked of smoke. this hotel is not worth the money they charge! and my family and i will NEVER BE STAYING THERE AGAIN.

Small town hotel with a great, family run staff. I stay here often on businness, and I have to say that the folks who run this hotel are some of the nicest, outgoing, likable hotel managers I have ever met, even outdoing those employees at some of the high end hotels I’ve stayed at in places like San Fran or NY. 5 stars definite.

I came to this inn after running from the courtesy inn in disgust. Quality Inn is great all around, they found us great rooms ina short notice on a busy weekend. This place is clean and the service is excellent. They really go above and beyond for there customers. Any issues you may have are handled immediately, I would definitely stay here again.
