I was there today at 11:30am. There were 4 ladies at the front area and doing nothing. No one greeted me and no one offered any help as I had some questions. Bad customer service, not friendly, stay away. There are many other choices, I will go to the place where I will be treated friendly!

this review is for the Allentown location.
first of all, this place has beautiful lighting. I’ve bought three expensive pieces from this organization; and unfortunately the latest purchase will be my last.
my latest transaction was filled with judgmental, nasty, short, ageist comments from the sales rep that was servicing my wife and I.
first of all, she made the assumption that our home was small, and «one day we will be able to move the light to a bigger home». poor example of customer service #1. then, we asked the best way to clean the $ 1,000 fixture we ended up purchasing and were met with another off-​handed, inappropriate comment along the lines of «since you’re young you wouldn’t know how to clean this» or something to that effect. are you kidding me? poor example of customer service #2. then, because of the price of the light, she made the assumption that we couldn’t afford it and tried to show us less expensive lights.
when we went to pick the light up, we were alerted to the fact that there was a «march madness sale», so we said we wanted to look around. same sales rep tells us «well you can’t return the light you just ordered so maybe look for a different room in your home».
thanks for treating me like an idiot. I won’t be back.

Went there recently to find a specific type of fluorescent bulb because one had burned out in our kitchen. I discovered it’s such a specific bulb (& about 8 – 9 years old), that the major home improvement stores don’t carry them anymore. Someone at 1 of these stores recommended I try looking for it online or at Bright Light. I went online and found too much information for me to comprehend, (since I know only the basics about light bulbs), so there was too much information online I couldn’t figure out which bulb I needed. So I then went to Bright Light & had complete success. I wasn’t waited on when I first entered, but I chalked this up to the 3 staff being busy. 2 were with customers and 1 was busy on the phone, so I walked around the showroom for a little bit waiting for someone to become available. When they did, this person was very professional, very friendly, knowledgeable, very helpful and very accommodating. I believe this person went above and beyond what was expected of her, and above and beyond what probably most other stores would do. For instance, the salesman I spoke to at the big home improvement store didn’t do this for me– didn’t put the time and effort in to help like she did for me. Turns out they didn’t sell the bulb either, but she was able to track it down for me online where I could purchase it, & she was able to make sense for me of all that information I didn’t understand about the bulb’s specifications. Thanks to her I now know how & where to replace this bulb should I need to in the future, & I understand what specifications I’m looking for with it. After all the work she did for me, helping me out, I feel bad I wasn’t able to buy the bulb from them. But I would return, most definitely, when I need lighting guidance in the future.

Most likely the best experience I can use when showing others of how not to treat customers and a prime example of forgetting where your money comes from. No understanding of how to make a WOW moment and lost any future remodeling business.
As a result of recommendation from home designers, I visited the facility to pre-​shop complete set of lighting for kitchen remodel. While there I inquired about replacing my recessed lighting in master shower. In short order the sales person and for me that that model light has been replaced with a flush mount lens same exact mounting. Perfectly happy with that.
Upon receiving the box I realized it was an entirely different mounting system. Not a problem. Let’s return to store and purchase the mounting hardware and electrical connection for new light. Saturday I am informed that there is no one in the store that understands what I need nor do they have the ability to do so. Really? Saturday?
Most people work M-​F! When would a retailer expect to have largest business day?
Then they are frustrated with me because I want to return it? Really? There is no one in the store that’s a retailer that can do anything be on selling out of a catalog.
Do not expect to have any idea when you come down to actually using the material they sell.

I would say I received poor service but that would mean someone actually acknowledged me. There were 3 sales people, one was engaged with a customer, one on the phone, and one fixing a lamp. I stood by the desk in front of all three for 8 minutes without a single word. Doesn’t sound like a lot, but try standing for that amount of time in front of someone. After 8 minutes, the 2 without customers went out for a cigarette. I made my way thru the cancer cloud out front and left.

5 stars, 2 words-​Keith Tillman!!! I have had about a dozen excellent experiences with this store. As a business owner myself, we occasionally purchase lights for our clients and have renovated our house as well. On my first visit to the store, I was barely acknowledged when I walked in the door. Most of the desk staff always seems preoccupied with whatever is on their desk. I walked around and left. I went there again after deciding to give it another shot and Keith was at the desk. His welcoming smile, sincere interest and vast knowledge of lighting were second to none. You can tell he loves his work and he reviewed photos I had and helped me find a fixture for my client that was complimented every time someone entered this new space. My second visit was for myself and I have to say, there is another woman who says she is his «work wife» was excellent as well. She helped me with another purchase. I then went back to meet with Keith for several other fixtures and mirrors and he is always spot on with his books for me to review. I was back again on many different occasions the last being yesterday. Despite the fact that Keith was on his way out on an appointment, he stopped to take the time to help me find several other fixtures I needed and having a display fixture wrapped up for me to «try out» at home. While there, two woman were walking around the counter area and NOONE acknowledged them despite two salespeople reviewing papers on their desk. Finally Keith’s «work wife» came back and asked if they needed help and said Vance would help them as she was with a client. Vance barely glanced at them and didn’t acknowledge them at all. They looked so disgusted that i wouldn’t be surprised if they left. I finally paid for my sample fixture and watched the two woman sit losing their patience. I am still working with Keith on the two fixtures I need. He has emailed me photos, pricing, alternates and makes me feel confident that he is still working on my new project. This has been his way of doing business since I started working with him.
In summary, Bright Light needs to find a way to clone Keith. He is an extremely valuable asset to the company and had it not been for him, I would have more than likely looked elsewhere for my lighting needs. During a time when Internet shopping is used more and more, customer service and personal interaction is what separates retail shops from online stores. Keith exhibits professionalism both in his demeanor and communication skills. Keep up the good work Keith!

I want to thank you for all the help with the lighting in my new and improved master bath! The most valuable help was to have your employees assist me in my purchasing decisions. Your staff’s expertise and knowledge were so valuable in my decision process. My electrician, contractor and designer were impress too. Your staff members were efficient and available to assist me with my long distance purchases and questions. They are wonderful people and salespersons. Andrew repaired our lamp while we waited AND the cost was very reasonable. Couldn’t ask for anything more.

Overall I had a great experience at bright light design center. They carry mostly upscale lights, and have a very knowledgable staff, who taught me that the key to great lighting in a space is, «layers of light». Also they back up their products very well. One of my *halogen* bulbs burnt out about a week after i installed my chandiler. They gave me a new one free of charge. Great products, great service, great experience. Sometimes they can be a bit busy, especially with the trampoline park next door, so be patient.
