John Solar, DPM

I had a very good first visit with Dr Solar. Sought his help for the first time several years ago. I had a vacation planned that was going to be sight-​seeing/​walking intensive, and sure enough I injured my foot to the point where I thought my vacation was ruined. So I googled for a foot doctor and picked the closest to my house. Now I don’t remember the exact details, but he either came in on his day off for me or during his off hours super early in the morning, because I needed to see someone right away, before going on vacation. Most doctors would not do that for their existing patients, let alone brand new ones they’ve never met before. He examined me, he had all the equipment in his office. He explained the problem, provided me with special pads as well as insoles. I was skeptical but took them with me on my vacation, and to my surprise they really helped, I was able to walk everywhere, not feeling limited in any way. Now I’m starting to develop another foot problem, I will be going back to him again.

I was a patient of Dr. Solar back in the summer of 2002 when I had a Morton’s Neuroma in my left foot.
Dr. Solar came off as generally being cold, uncaring, and unsympathetic. While he gave me a prescription for physical therapy, he failed to explain to me why PT was so important and what it involved, which delayed my seeking care there.
Subsequent visits to him were just as bad as the first. Instead of acting confident when he examined my foot, he acted confused and never said much. My appointments with him were very awkward.
I found another podiatrist shortly thereafter and got away from this guy. To date, Dr. Solar is the only doctor I have ever stopped seeing because I could not stand him.
