LensCrafters

My son who attends boarding school near KOP went to the LensCrafters near Macy’s (I think it’s called on the court?). He needed replacement glasses ASAP, but the office of his eye doctor in Texas was uncooperative. The LensCrafters staff went above and beyond the call of duty to help him get what he needed at a reasonable price. I really appreciated their help.

I have two experiences to document, one terrible, one fantastic. There are two stores in the King of Prussia Mall, at the time of writing Unilocal doesn’t distinguish between the two stores:

This was a poor experience altogether. Both my wife and I had a bad feeling about the sales person, and to watch someone sharply bend frames to pop the display lenses in such a manner made me wonder if he really should be handling something like glasses at all.
I asked specifically about the different lenses and coatings available. I was told «well, uh — there’s lenses that work, where you can see out of them, and ones that don’t — You may be different, but I like my lenses to help me see…»
I responded «You don’t offer different coatings or lense types?» to which he responded «no, that’s how they come». Our glasses were expensive, and I put that down to Lenscrafters, up-​selling, the KOP mall location, and glasses in general being expensive.
Lenscrafters, Court Side, King of Prussia [5 out of 5]
This team are excellent! Every person I have interacted with at this store has been friendly and efficient. Of COURSE they offer different coatings and lenses. That day in the Plaza store we’d just been sold the most expensive combination Lenscrafters offer (excluding Transitions). You know how I know that? The Court store pulled our old orders from the Plaza store and said — «now you have our best lenses/​coatings, want to stick with those?». They then showed me a full sheet of paper showing every single option and what it costs”.
At this point I mentioned that the other store had outright lied on a prior visit. They told me they had no options, and the price would be X. Unfortunately, my story turned out not be an isolated incident — although to the credit of the lady she did not in any way badly represent the other store, but apologized for their behavior.
Summary:
Please do yourself a favor and reward a good store with your business. Go to the COURT Side Lenscrafters. Unfortunately, reading the other reviews, I see a theme of experiences, and I was not the only one to be very disappointed with the sales at the Plaza side.

Twice we’ve had scheduled appts and we had to wait over 50min. Really inconsiderate of any doctor, especially a commodity business like eyeglasses.

Needed a pair of glasses so I decided to shop this location. I found the glasses I liked however, I ended up purchasing them from the Court location… Reason being the staff were not helpful and pretty much ignored me the entire time I was in the store. The store wasnt even that busy on my visit however, they were more interested in having conversations with each other and there friends who stopped by.
If you need glasses from Lenscrafters in KOP I would suggest you shop the Court location, see my review on that store.

What a hellish example of customer service.
I went in for a pair of sunglasses. I’m in the lens crafters computer system, but at a different (MUCH BETTER) location. The woman who waited on me was highly irritated she had to dig up my information. She literally rolled her eyes when I told her my prescription was in the computer. She didn’t want to have to move from her spot behind the counter.
So, I picked out my sunglasses and was told it would take up to 10 days for them to be ready. I was surprised since they claim ‘glasses in under an hour.’. I asked the associate if she could point out the glasses that wouldn’t take 10 days and she said, «Why don’t you just pick out a pair you like and I“ll let you know.»
I explained that is what I had done initially and I was told that it would take 10 days… by her. Wouldn’t it just be easier to show me the ones I could pick from.
The answer?
«No. I have to wait on other people.»
I was stunned. There was no one else in her vicinity. She literally didn’t want to take the time to help me.
I managed to pick out a pair of sunglasses (after two tries). I brought them over and she began ringing me up… I should have mentioned this was a sunglass sale.
She gave me the price (289.00) and I said, «But they’re on sale.»
«Not this pair.» Was the response.
«Can you please point out what sunglasses are on sale, and which ones will take an hour to make?» I inquired.
She pointed to the wall where I had just been, «Over there.»
I picked out another pair… and as I was walking back to her, she literally turned around an made a bees line for the back of the store so she wouldn’t have to deal with me.
I put the glasses on the desk where she had been standing, and left.
I’ll never go to lens crafters again.

nothing good to say. got my glasses at the lenscrafters in exton then moved to kop-​needed numerous adjustments. after the last adjustment-​i noticed a small crack in the lens and went right back (within 15 minutes) the tech told me that they don’t keep records on adjustments and he didn’t remember me so how could they have done it .they are as uninterested in good customer service as i have ever seen. i went to the walmart optical and received the best treatment ever and now have a pair of glasses that i can actually use. the staff at lens crafters are more interested in socializing than assisting customers-​well guess what lens crafters-​you are not the only game in town-​you are rude, uncaring and a BIG rip off… i wish Unilocal had minus stars

Never go here… I certainly will never go back. The staff doesn’t communicate with each other, and they really could care less if you’re a satisfied customer or not! After a month of bumbling around I finally said refund my money, called 1−800-contacts and in 3 days had the proper lenses in my mailbox.

This place is truly one of the very few businesses that I would not come back to even if I were paid to do so.
I initially went here in May to get my eye exam and contact lenses. After my exam and contact lens fitting, I made an appointment the following week to come back for a check up on the trial lenses. When I came back, I saw a new doctor, who prescribed me a different type of lens, but they didn’t have it in stock, so I would have to come back. I set an appointment for June to return. That was fine, but keep in mind that I live about an hour away, so driving 2 hours each time is not how I would choose to spend my day. When I returned in June, the associate told me that my lenses were never ordered… and so I would have to come back again in July… no apologies were given or acknowledgement that they had done something wrong. Instead, a couple of the associates and the doctor who saw me the first time started trashing on their colleague (the second doctor who had seen me previously). At this point, I was already drafting my Unilocal review.
When I came back in July and finally got the proper trial lenses, I requested that they send the non-​trial lenses directly to my home — at a charge of $ 10. OK, that’s fine, it’s better than driving 2 hours. Five weeks later in August when I called them to inquire about where the heck my lenses are, they tell me that it’s been sitting in the store… as if I was suppose to pick it up!
Needless to say, I will never come back to this establishment again — which is unfortunate as there were 2 – 3 pairs of glasses I wanted to purchase there. Oh well, that’s the cost of doing bad business.
So all in all, a process that should normally take, at max, 1 month, took 4 months and an abundance of headache.

There are two Lenscrafters at the King of Prussia mall. This review is for their plaza location.
The arm broke of of Hubs rimless glasses. That man is blind without his glasses, so we had to find a place that would make his glasses quickly.
We walked into Lenscrafters and told the sales associate our dilemma. We asked about another rimless frame and she told us that the rimless glasses needed to be sent out and would take up to ten days to come in. She told us that the store didn’t have the equipment to make the more «fragile» pairs of glasses. Obviously, waiting ten days wasn’t an option so we set about looking for a different pair of frames. Hubs chose a pair that didn’t look rimless. Apparently it was. When brought them up to her, she chided us like we were five years old. «No rimless remember?»
How can a place that advertises «glasses in about an hour» not have the appropriate equipment to make a pair of rimless glasses?
The sales associate did not move from her seemingly «appointed» position. When we asked to be shown frames for men, she pointed to where they would be. It was like her feet were literally glued to the floor. She was unfriendly, and seemed annoyed that we asked for help. To her credit, she called the stock room and informed us that they only had Hubs left lens prescription. She also called the court location and after finding out that they had his script, sent us on our way.
We ended up at Sterling Optical where we received fantastic customer service and a pair of rimless frames and lenses– all in 65 minutes.

This is the first time I’m writing about a non-​food related place because this Lenscrafters is the best Lenscrafters I’ve ever been to!
I went here for my annual eye exam and Dr. Sejal (sp?) Patel gave the most thorough eye exam EVER. Other eye doctors take about less than 15 to 30 minutes and rush through the entire process like they don’t really care. But nope, not this place and not Dr. Patel. I was actually so surprised. Dr. Patel actually cared about my eyes.
The exam, however, did take a long time (more than an hour??), but I think it was just because my eyes had serious problems, so it required more time.
Because my eyes were problematic, Dr. Patel required that I wear glasses and couldn’t wear any contacts for a few weeks. So, Kim, one of the associates there, made sure I got my glasses FAST. She helped me find the best option (money-​wise) and got everything (that otherwise would have taken more than a day or two) done in less than an hour. I am truly amazed.
I just really can’t stress enough about how experienced and caring Dr. Patel and Kim were. I had a great experience and totally recommend anyone in the King of Prussia area to visit this Lenscrafters location for eye exams, glasses, and anything else eyes!
