Marinated chicken wrap delicious, as is the blue cheese salad. But of course, get a milkshake. The best.

We go to the Dairi-o fairly frequently. This location isn’t were we normally go. After today’s visit not sure I would rush back to this location. Glad the one close to the house is so good. I had a dipped cone, can’t tell you the last time I had one. I have to say the customer service was just not there. Seemed like a lot of high school kids, and they just didn’t seem to care. My kids went through the line, and sat down. I went through and asked for a dipped cone. She asked what I wanted, and I asked what my options were. I took vanilla with butterscotch. As I stood eating I see this dark brown color on my ice cream. I ask is that butterscotch? She looked down and threw it away. She said she typically only does chocolate and was on auto pilot. She dipped my cone again. The first time it was dipped at least twice. This time once. I paid, but the first total was just for me, so I said what about my kids ice cream, she said oh I forgot. So as I walk to my table the ice cream is starting to squirt out the sides of the dip. Pretty sure if it was dipped a second time this wouldn’t happen.

The staff definitely was NOT friendly and rushed us along even after I mentioned it was our first time there. I ordered two kids meals and then ordered a buffalo wing combo for myself with cheese fries. The fries were disgusting. I don’t know if the cheese was bad or if the fries were made in old oil but I ended up throwing them out. The sauce/seasoning on the wings was gross. I won’t be back to dairi-o.

The home town favorite. I don’t live in King anymore but the Dairi-O was a staple growing up. Finally visited the new(ish) location last year, and while many things have changed the hot dogs still rank as my favorite. People love JJ’s Red Hots or Greens for hot dogs in Charlotte(Matt’s Chicago is overrated), but I would have the Dairi-O over them every time. I’m glad it still has the flavor, even if it lost the original character. Still a fun atmosphere and it is nice to have inside setting. I do miss the footlong though, that was always what I got growing up.

Still the best Southern hotdog I’ve ever had. Love the ice cream selection and the shakes with them are awesome. Krazy Kookie Dough is the way to go for a shake! Keep being awesome Dairi-O, and thanks for making my short trip home memorable and nostalgic all at once.

Great hotdogs with toasted buns, chili and slaw. Great ice cream. It used to be a place to drive up and walk up to the window place. Now you walk through the huge cup shaped entrance to the 50’s theme restaurant. It is a fun place to eat with burgers, fries, salads and more. Stop on in and enjoy.

Food is great, fast service, beautiful establishment… but the service is hardly friendly. I was rushed through my order and the cashier was terribly rude. I do recommend the hot dogs! Delicious!

Great desserts! I usually get the brownie sundae and it’s awesome! It is really big though, so you can probably share comfortably. I only wish they put slightly more fudge on it! It seems like the brownie drowns in ice cream and whip cream but the fudge is limited.

I was referred to this restaurant, because they supposedly had milkshakes that, «were to die for.» In short — that description is appropriate. I only ordered a vanilla milkshake, since I had just had lunch in Winston-Salem at PB’s Takeout. The milkshake was thick and rich. I’ve had better, but not since the 70’s. Price was $ 3.30, and definitely worth the money. I happily sipped on my milkshake while I headed for the community where I was raised. I have two surviving, 90 year old, aunts out of the original 34 aunts and uncles, and I decided that I needed to pay them a visit after being absent for several years. Today was a good day for Sam J — today I went HOME.

The physical set-up and décor is different from any other fast food restaurant I’ve ever seen. It is a cross between something from the Jetson’s and Happy Days. I love the hot dogs here: toasted buns and all my favorite toppings. Everything tastes fresh, including the chopped onions, slaw, and chili. And the service is quick.

My family loves dairio!!! We will eat at either location but our favorite is this one in king… we actually drive right by the one in rural hall just to come to this one! The staff is welcoming and friendly! The restuarant is always clean as well as the bathrooms… which is important! Everything on the menu is good but the hotdogs and fries are to die for! We will most definitely keep going for years to come!

Chickie wanted a dog yesterday so we went here. I used to come here when it was a little building with a few tables out front. Now it looks like Mega Burger or something. But they have it going on here. You order up front and read the paper until your order is ready. Two hot dogs, one fry and one soda for less than six bucks. They toast the buns here. Packets of texas pete make me want to come back. Imagining how many I can stuff in my pockets. Good food and cheap.

Finally had a chance to stop in at the“new” Dairi-O, or rather the redesigned digs at the old location. This place has been around since the late ’40’s, and is now owned by the son of the former owner of the Char’s Hamburger chain. Don’t know how many locations there were of Char’s, but I only know of two — one on Main Street in Lexington(decent burgers and hot dogs), and one on Waughtown Street in Winston(terrible place). There are now 2 locations of Dairi-O in the area — this one and the one on University in Rural Hall, also in a shiny new building. I have to admit that while I like the new layout here, it doesn’t have the same funky charm of the old one. The food, however is still excellent, especially the hot dogs. Great chili, decent wiener, fresh, soft bun, and fresh onions. Fries and burgers are pretty good, as well. They serve some pretty good icream too, but I mainly just come for the dogs. Good stuff here — prices are good, not great, and the service is great.

Some of the best hot dogs you will ever eat. I got the number 12 Dogs 1 fries 1 drink which is enough for 2 people.
