Avis Kingman Rent-A-Car

This is the second time that I’ve rented from this Avis– the first time a long time ago– and the experience was pretty awful. I’m writing because I see that there only one star reviews and things have so vastly improved that they deserve to be recognized for it. I only dealt with one person, Teresa, but she was absolutely amazing. Super friendly, attentive to my needs and saved me a bunch of money. I actually rented the car a day early because I was so worried that it wouldn’t be available on time. As another reviewer said that can destroy all of your best laid plans and has happened to me at other rental agencies before. Not only was my car ready and waiting but, being a minivan with weird seat configurations, she actually went out and showed me exactly how everything worked.
The car was so new it only had 800 miles on it and had great gas mileage especially considering how huge it was. It was a larger vehicle than the competition in town offered but for $ 200(!!) less for my trip and she upgraded me to free satellite radio, another extra kindness.
The only other person working in the office was also obviously very friendly and was joking with other customers. The office itself is bare and dingy but don’t let that fool you. They’re much nicer here and much less expensive than anything else in town or even the airport Avises and Budgets that I’ve used. Really great job.

I reserved a car over the phone when I was stranded in Kingman because my transmission died on the freeway. The dealership dropped me off at Avis/​Budget. When I went in and said I had a reservation, the lady said, Well, I don’t have any cars. Those two have flat tires, and that one has a busted windshield. I don’t have any cars. I asked why I was able to make a reservation when there were no cars, but didn’t get an answer, didn’t get any offer of help finding a new car, or even an offer of transportation back to the dealership that was over a mile away, where my family was waiting for me. Very unprofessional, unhelpful. Three people sitting around inside the building… and not a car to be had in a car rental place.

When you are moving, logistics are everything. For example, when you make a reservation for a vehicle and expect for that vehicle to be available, a consumer has every right to be upset. What a consumer does not expect is for the agent to become belligerent and then tell the jilted consumer to leave. AVOID this Avis location at all costs. If white trash, unprofessional folks are your thing-​then this place is for you!
