History
Established in 1979.
In 1970 Frank and Edna Pratt purchased «Honest» John’s Restaurant and Gift Shop. The restaurant was on the east end of the building and only had about 45 seats and specialized in fried chicken dinners for 99 cents. The rest of the building was devoted to souvenirs and gifts. After about a year Frank and Edna realized that the restaurant was more of a problem to operate than they wanted and turned it over to son Tom Pratt. In 1979, he started up Pratt’s Catering division which is now the largest caterer in the region. Tom took sole possession of the business in 1983 and created Pratt’s Gourmet Ice Cream. In 1987, he perfected Pratt’s Honey Glazed Ham after diligently working over a year on the processes. Ham sales grew at an unbelievable rate those first few years and now Pratt’s Hams are a regionally famous holiday tradition. Pratt’s is now one of the longest running restaurants and businesses in the area at 42 years and counting!
Meet the Business Owner
Tom P.
Business Owner
Tom is the complete opposite of a «silent» owner. He is very much involved in every aspect of the company. He is obviously doing something right, being the owner of a successful business for 42 years and counting. His main goal is to make sure every customer that enters has an excellent experience from taste to service. On a personal level, he has very simple pleasures besides barbecuing, such as, going to the lake, golfing, and spending time with his sidekick, Trixie. Trixie is his Boston Terrier that never leaves his side, she also enjoys good barbecue. The employees of Pratt’s could not ask for a more passionate, devoted boss, such as Tom.
