History

Established in 2006.

I wish I could say there was some big brained business plan… but not!

Around 2004 I started coaching the local college racquetball team. The Eastern College Racquetball Conference, (ECRC) ran a series of regional tournaments and the kids needed money to attend the events. So I signed them up to get jobs where they could load or unload a truck or box up someone’s home and they then had the funds to play tournaments in Binghamton, Allentown, State College and even further.

After two years the college team disbanded but by then BestDarnMovers was pretty much up and running, we just kept it going.

At first we were BestDamnMovers, copied from the old ESPN Best Damn Sports Show with Tom Arnold, remember?, but we quickly changed it. One of our first moves was a minister in Bear Creek. His parting words as he drove away in his rental truck was, «you shouldn’t be ‘damn’, it’s not nice. Why not at least be ‘darn’ instead». And that’s how it all began

Meet the Business Owner

Joel S.

Business Owner

I’m Joel. I get the glory. I take the heat.

Life long resident of Wyoming Valley.

Born and raised in Exeter, a great place to be a kid. Later moved to Wilkes Barre. Went to Meyers High School, (favorite teacher Mickey Gorham), then Wilkes College. Thank you Dr Rizzo, Prof Engel and Dr Wagiha «you are going to love economics» Taylor. She was right. I did.

I grew up in the family grocery, Academy Market in Wilkes Barre. Any of life’s lessons worth learning came from my my dad. Thanks Dad.

Out of college I worked on Wall Street, about 17 years– first for Merrill Lynch and then Dean Witter, (Morgan Stanley), in Scranton.

I loved every day in Scranton one of America’s truly great cities.

Live in Forty Fort: ultimate destination heaven. We’ll see.

I’m inventor of the ‘ClothesTaco’, a device for moving mounds of hanging clothing easily; you gotta see this.

Also responsible for the phrase, «Friends Don’t Let Friends Schlep Furniture». Unforgettable, right? :)

Whoops– there it is.
