Kingston Animal Hospital

I have been going to Kingston Animal Hospital for the last ten years. I found Dr. Emily Clair and she is awesome. Only in an emergency would I see someone else. I worked at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital for two years, years ago and at Hanson Animal Hospital for 3 years.
As such I am very picky about who treats my animals.
I have liked almost everyone there that I have dealt with. The only Dr I won’t see there is Dr. Davis.

I had a terrible experience at Kingston Animal Hospital, particularly with Dr. Davis. I had recently adopted a dog that unbeknownst to me had Heartworm. I was scared, uniformed of the disease and looking for help. Dr Davis was so rude, curt and unhelpful, she did not explain HW to me, only recommended treatment, when I asked for further info she handed me a pamphlet on HW meds and walked off. I got my dog treated there because I was not sure what else to do. When I picked up my dog after treatment, he was covered in his own urine, so the blanket I left him with. The staff said nothing about it. I was very upset and left, I never received a follow up call any type of after care instructions. This was my first dog so I had no measure of comparison. I have since found a wonderful vet.

Dr. Russo is the best holistic vet around. He treated my aging greyhound (who had a myriad of issues) with acupuncture and the results were amazing. Most importantly he doesn’t upsell you on treatment and administers his healing ways with love and compassion. Highly recommended.

Great care when you can actually speak to someone! We have been clients of KAH for a number of years. We really appreciate the care our pet gets when were actually seen. The problem we have is that you have to go through this automated call answering system and I’m tired of the «were really busy, call back later or leave a message» triage. Here’s what to do. HIRE SOMEONE to answer your calls, especially during advertised office hours. Sorry but the system may work for you, but not your clients!

Awful lady at the desk. I called to inquire about a procedure for my cat, and she couldn’t tell me any information without putting me on hold for a few minutes to find out from someone else. When she came back on the line, she still didn’t give me the cost for pain medication, saying, «Well that’s up to the doctor. But you could ask when you come in for your initial appointment.» (Which she quoted me at $ 65) My reply was with a giggle, «Yes, but I’m not going to spend $ 65 just to come in and find out how much it costs…) She replied rudely by stating that she didn’t know what to tell me. I immediately crossed this place off my list of options. I will not trust someplace to care for my pet when they don’t even care for their customers.

I’ve been taking my dogs here for 3 years or so now. One time was on an emergency basis when my male Boxers toenail broke open almost back to his toe. The staff here was great and they ended up removing his nail. It was around Xmas time and they bandaged him up with a red bandage and he was able to come home. A couple weeks later I brought him back to see Dr. Clair as she’s the one who removed the nail and it had healed perfectly and he was good as new. He can be a bit naughty at the vet but they handled him perfectly. He was also neutered here as a puppy and their prices are the best around. I have a new puppy and she will be seeing Dr. Clair as well for her check ups and spay in a few months.
Most of the staff is nice but there are a couple duds who work at the desk. The techs are decent. I really like Dr. Clair and her style. She’s not pushy like most vets and is very informed of everything going on and will give you her opinion without pushing it on you. She’s a really good support system and is great handling dogs of all sizes. She’s usually on time too so bonus points for her! I’ve seen Drs Davis and DeMarco a couple times and but always ask for Clair and prefer her over the others.
Overall I really like KAH and will continue driving the 20 minutes there instead of going to vets in town. Their prices, staff and overall service is top notch.

I love this animal hospital and the staff. It is so obvious they are in it for the animals and clients well being and happiness. Everything is explained fully and the time is taken to be sure you and your pet are comfortable. I love their willingness to approach health issues with a more holistic approach if requested. I love how they are willing to actually hear what you are saying rather than push you aside for any reason.
I will say that I’m not crazy about Dr. Davis as she is a little too impersonal and brusk with me and my pet for my liking, but every other vet I have gone to was just top shelf across the board and I simply won’t go to her again.
I usually have Dr. Clair care for my dogs and I simply cannot say enough nice things about her. Empathetic, knowledgable, kind, caring, patient… EVERYTHING a vet is supposed to be. I trust her explicitly.
I have moved from Kingston MA to Belmont MA and still drive to Kingston for my vet visits because I have yet to find anyone who compares. Every time I am in there, I leave thinking «this is exactly what a vet visit should feel like».
