Aegis Lodge

I was very impressed with how friendly the entire staff was while on tour here. It seemed that each and every staff person made their way to us to say hello even if they were just passing by in the hallway to tend to residents. The grounds were very nice outside. The interior was also very impressive. As a chemically-​sensitive person I personally appreciated that I was able to go through the entire tour (except two rooms: one had fragrance from some sort of plug-​in and the other had recently been painted). In other facilities (including an Aegis on the Eastside) I wasn’t able to do the tours because of strong chemical-​fragrances. The most impressive part of this tour was being able to sit down with Kathy J. Stewart RN BSN (who recently published a book titled «Mom’s Losing Her Memory I’m Losing My Mind!» I just ordered her book on Amazon. The Marketing Manager was also very friendly and helpful. Having worked in retirement and assisted living homes myself many years ago I was satisfied that my questions were answered. I’ve heard most wonderful things about both the Management and Staff of Aegis, particularly Kathy Stewart. I was also very impressed with their more intensive Memory Care floor complete with Snoezelen rooms. Research shows that Snoezelen rooms are very helpful for people with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, etc. It seemed the Lodge caters to people who can eat: gluten, dairy, citrus, etc. In talking with the Head Chef she said that they have some special diets and could cook for anyone even if they had multiple food/​chemical allergies.
