Per my wife and nieces: If you want shoes that fit at a decent price, go here. If you want cheap, go elsewhere and suffer. The owners are very knowledgeable, and on extremely busy days be prepared to wait for help, as they don’t have a large staff of marginally helpful employees.

I’m so happy with and extremely grateful for this dance store! If you have a girl in any of the stricter dance studios around Seattle you know it can be a nightmare finding what you HAVE to have. This store has ALWAYS had what we needed, even when we drove all over and went to multiple other stores looking for stuff. I’ve learned my lesson though and now I always go here first. Thank goodness for them! I also appreciate that they are kind and helpful. But honestly, they could be totally mean to me and I’d still be really happy with them because they always have what we need, and there are very few dance stores anywhere around this city you can say that about! I’d be lost without them.

Excellent, very knowledgeable and can fit difficult situations. Keep in mind dancing is a small community so your reaction to getting help here can be related to which studio you are in. She does favor Russian technique. If you want an expert go here.

I’ve been to Dancewear Center twice now and each time has been a great experience. The owners are always welcoming and helpful. I am a first time dance mom and don’t always know always exactly what items I’m supposed to get for my daughters dance class but they are always helpful and accommodating to make sure I get the right stuff. This will be our #1 place to get all dance items at from now on! :)

Super unhelpful & very expensive.
They seem like it’s a privilege for you to be helped by them.
Spent $ 80 on foot bra and a leotard.
Will be going to Fuzi Dance Boutique in Bellevue instead.
They are very nice and helpful.

My daughter and I came here in fall to do a pointe shoe fitting. This was her second shoe fitting first at this store. I was impressed by the knowledge of the shoes and willing to keep trying on shoes even after my daughter thought she had found «her shoes». She spent 20 – 30 minutes with us. While you will not be given warm fuzzies from her you will get a great shoe fitting. She knew daughters teaching style and understood what my daughter needed in a shoe. I really appreciate a professional fitting.

I was so happy with our pointe shoe fitting drop in! The staff was friendly and very helpful! We left much more satisfied with her shoes than when we walked in! Great place to go in the Seattle area!

I read over these reviews and had to laugh to myself. I am surprised people are in need of such spoiling. My daughter Madison has been getting gear from Patrice for almost 7 years, and she is the most talented pointe shoe fitter in Seattle, hands down.
Now is she bubbly and doting to the customers? Absolutely not. Dance is serious to her, and fitting the perfect shoe is her job, not sugar coating things to make you feel better. Once on a busy day I saw her help a mom with a loud misbehaved young child, before the others in line saying «Lets help you so we can get you out of here.».
She has always been courteous, helpful and efficient, and her knowledge of pointe shoes is worth any level of eccentricity you may experience. She will do the very best to make sure your child is fit in the best shoe for their foot. As a mother, I appreciate that so much.
If customer service is all about sugar coating and bad product, sure — go elsewhere, but Patrice and her staff has what most don’t, experience and knowledge.

I am surprised to read the reviews here. I brought my two girls in yesterday to buy dance shoes and left feeling happy to have found a true family business where they still provide good service. After trying other stores without a professional to size my daughter, who has wide feet, we ended up here looking for someone to help find something that would work. The owners were both there and while the husband did the fittings, we all chatted. It suppose I don’t go to real shoe stores anymore, but I thought it was such a treat to have old fashioned service and to know for sure that I was buying the right shoes for my kids. I enjoyed talking to the owners and will go here first next time.

I had an experience similar to many of the other people here. The main woman was super snooty and seemed to not have time for my questions. I am new to the area and was trying to find information out about ballet lessons for my daughter. I also wanted to purchase a pair of tights. She wasn’t helpful and made me feel like I was interrupting the very important conversation she was having with some other woman. I stood at the cash register for at least 10 minutes while she gabbed with someone else about PNB and the drama there. I was not impressed and will not go back there and give them my business.

If there was a ZERO, I would check it. Are you kidding me??? A $ 20 charge to try on dance shoes? I’m glad I phoned in first so I didn’t waste my gas or time to go there. The guy actually got so rude with me when I expressed my surprise on their policy.

I went in here to get dance shoes and clothing for my daughters since I was in the area. We walked in and were «greeted» by the lady that I’m guessing owns the store. She was very abrupt and cold with us from the beginning. She sized one of my daughters for shoes and then handed over the job to a younger lady who was pleasant enough. I went back to the older lady to ask her a question about the sizing and she snapped at me that she didn’t know and that we should just try it on. My question was simple (how does a size Medium relate to numbers sizing) and if you are running a retail store, it’s something you should be able to answer. We spent over $ 100 on clothing and shoes but I will never return. I’ve never been treated by someone in retail like that and can’t imagine why someone like that would even want to work with the public. Petticoat Junction is a little more out of the way but they are always friendly, so I’ll go back to them in the future.

Worst service ever! If you aren’t a rich mother looking to purchase more and more and more dance clothes for your daughter, forget about it. I was looking for some yoga toe socks and was recommended by a friend to check them out first then head to Target. I figured the quality would be better here so headed on over. The woman at the front was horrible! So cold and rude once she realized I wasn’t going to spend loads of money. She pointed at the direction to the socks saying «they’re over there» and then turned and started doing something else. I found the socks eventually and for some reason actually purchased them ($ 15!!!). I wore them to class and all the sticky pads on the bottom fell off all around the yoga center. There were holes in the socks before the day was over! I can’t imagine the quality of their other items if they’re going to carry such expensive but low quality items like these. Target sells them for $ 9 and they’re still working great two months later. Run, don’t walk from this place until they can change their attitude!

There is really no other dance wear options that I know of in the area, unless you’re buying directly from a dance studio. We’ve been coming here for about 5 years. The owner often seems like a very serious woman, but she’s become more friendly in the last few years as she’s gotten to know us. Maybe that’s because my daughter is a «real dancer» now, dance team and all. We are there 4 – 5 times a year, seeing as my ten year old constantly needs something new, always outgrowing shoes and such.

I’m a Bikram yogi. Every time I’ve passed by their «Yoga and Dancewear» sign I’ve been curious about what they carry. Today I decided to pop in. Turns out it’s mostly dedicated to dance. But they do have short shorts (leotard cover-​ups?), bra tops, and tanks that would work for hot yoga. I was amazed by the prices. Shorts were as cheap as $ 16, bra tops $ 20, $ 22. Way way cheaper than the brand name stuff! I might be back to purchase seeing as I need to retire some of my existing collection of yoga clothes…

I am a brand new dancer and went in for jazz shoes. Frankly the main woman (I’m guessing she owns it) seems quite partial to «real» dancers. She wasn’t mean but she just wasn’t friendly or encouraging when I told her I was starting for the first time and, as an adult, a bit nervous. She didnt smile once and that certainly didn’t feel like the «joy of dance» I’m always hearing about.
A while later I went in for ballet shoes and the same lady was there but also a younger blonde lady who helped me and she was actually very nice and helpful. Although, I did tell her I wanted black ballet shoes and when I got home I opened the box and they were pink… not sure how that happened since we spent a good while trying the black ones on… oh well.
Also, if you don’t actually buy shoes they claim they charge you $ 20 to help you try them on?! Erm… unless this is a common thing for dance shoes. yeah…seems rather greedy. I can go into Nordstrom and have someone help me with shoes for as long as I want but if I don’t want to buy them they don’t bill me twenty bucks.
So yeah, one lady not so nice, other lady nice but maybe color blind, and three stars because it’s the only dance wear place on the east side…
