History

Established in 1979.

Established in 1979 Island Sailing was founded in 1979 in Portland, Oregon. Over the years, Island Sailing has grown to over 35 vessels and three locations: Portland, Olympia and Kirkland. Island Sailing’s staff of industry professionals build upon the company’s 31 years of experience teaching students, operating a sailing club and providing a comprehensive range of services for sailing enthusiasts.

Meet the Manager

Josh S.

Manager

Josh has worked with literally thousands of sailors, coordinated hundreds of sailing programs from Portland to Seattle, and prepped more boats than most sailors do in a lifetime. Josh knows more about sailors, and what makes a good sailor, than most sailors profess to know about themselves.

Or, as Josh explains, «I could care less if you’re a sailor, doctor, astronaut or garbage man. There is so much that sailing has to offer beyond your first sail. If you’re going to invest your extra time into sailing, then you should understand what it means to be a part of the community.
