We recently adopted our newest addition to our family, Sammy, a 12 week old puppy. Tamera was great and very patient in allowing us to take our time to assure that Sammy was a good fit for our family. She gave us great advice on how to deal with issues we had between our older dog and the puppy and gave us additional time in making our decision final as we wanted what was best for both dogs, which I am very happy about because every bit of advice she gave worked wonders!!! 9 times out of 10 she communicated with us immediately and very accommodating to our schedule. I would recommend Tamera to anyone who is looking to adopt a dog. Thank you Tamera for being there for us through the decision making… we love Sammy!

We are so lucky to have found Tamera and K9 R&R, who brought our pup Wallace to us! We agree with other reviewers– she was hard to get ahold of and not the best at communications. But, as others have said, she is great with dogs, and she is good at matching pups to owners. It is worth following up with her– she will get back to you eventually, and she may just have the best addition to your family in her care! Wallace came home to us at 11 weeks in great shape, and he has been the best pup we could have imagined.

We had a great experience with Tamera and K9 R and R. Her communications were clear and timely and she was very accommodating to our schedule to visit and later adopt a dog. She is very knowledgeable and provided good advice and feedback for us. We recommended to friends already and were pleased to find that another friend who found K9 R and R independently from us also had a great experience. Tamera knows her dogs and is very committed to all of them, even those with challenging issues. Well done!

If you are looking to find the absolute perfect dog for you, then look no further. I am so thankful that I found Tamera after trying to work with the Seattle animal shelter and the humane society. Instead of rushing to get a dog that you think looks cute in pictures but you really don’t know much about, You can take the time to make sure that you come home with the perfect pet for you. In fact, Tamera requires a temporary foster period before official adoption so that you can take the dog home with you for up to 2 weeks, introduce them to any other pets in the home and make sure the dog is happy living at your pace of life. I brought home a beautiful and sweet boy, but having to be alone for part of the day didn’t really suit his emotional needs, so after a week Tamera welcomed him home with open arms, and then found me the perfect dog. My dog Lucy was a little shy at first from being a stray for a lot of her puppyhood, but other than that she is mellow, sweet, gentle with my cat, perfectly potty trained and a dream to hike and backpack with. I cannot stress it enough how amazing this adoption experience was. Do yourself a favor and call her, even if it takes a few emails or calls to get a hold of her, you will not regret it! Also her rescue is in Auburn, not sure why Unilocal says its in Kirkland.

I’m pretty emotional writing this review, I didn’t get to keep the dog, but I feel that it’s important for me to review K9 Rescue & Rehab. Tamera knows her dogs, she loves her dogs, she is making a difference in the world! I had a great experience with her. She was very knowledgeable, we spent 2 hours talking and letting our two Chihuahua getting to know Rosey, the prospective puppy. I never had an issue communicating with Tamera, as a matter of fact, we had to change our initial meeting from Monday to the Friday before our appoint and she got us right in. Tamera had tons of tips for making our two pups feel more secure and for acclimating Rosey. I will recommend K9 Rescue and when the time/​pup is right I’ll adopt from K9 Rescue. So your probably wondering why I didn’t keep Rosey, although we love her, she was too stressed out leaving K9, I don’t think she was quite ready even though she definitely seemed like it to being with. I think she still has some tummy trouble to deal with and like all the dogs Tamera takes in, she’s had trouble in her past to overcome, I wish her the best, her forever family will be blessed to have her. I wish it was us, but it’s in Rosey’s best interest to be back with Tamera for now. I miss her bouncy self.

Below is the communication between us and K9 Rescue and Rehabilitation. I can’t fit this in with my original review though I believe you can go back to read it and the reply.
March 25^th 2015 — My mom sent an e-​mail to K9 R&R requesting more information about a cat being held at the rescue.
March 28^th — I called K9R&R and got a voicemail box that was full
March 29^th — E-​mail Reply from K9 R&R only asking if we were still looking
— Dawn RE: «I am can you please call my Daughter Kristina at (Phone number)»
— K9 R&R RE: «Thank you. I’ll give her a call later today.»
April 2^nd — I called K9 R&R and Tamera answered. She asked me to call back in 10 minutes.
— During the course of the 2^nd phone call we discussed the cat and his temperament. I determined that the cat could be a good match for my mom based on what she said she was looking for but that we would still need to meet the cat before saying yes absolutely. I was a little worried when she said she would have to bring him outside to meet us. I told her Sunday and Monday were the only days we could meet her and that Sunday worked best for us. She said she could do Sunday but Monday was better for her. I said we could do that. Tamera told me at that time she would send an application along with an exact time and address to meet them and if I could please have the application back to her asap but as long as it was back by Saturday.
— 6:52pm. Application still not received. My mom called and was assured that it would be sent that evening as soon as the dogs were done being tended to.
April 3^rd 6pm — Still nothing from K9 R&R. We’re supposed to have the application back the next day and still have not received it. Responded with an E-​mail —
I guess i should not have gotten excited when you said you would send the application to me last night, and that you would actually follow through and sent me the application like you said, since it took you at least 4 days to respond to me the first time. it has now been over a week since my first request was sent You make me feel like you don’t really care if they are adopted or not.

Obviously we’re interested in Ryan but our patience in working with you is growing thin. If you seriously want him to go to a good home, and Yes, we would be a good home. Then we need a time and date to meet the cat. If you want paperwork then you need to send us that.
I would like to point out that our patience is not finite. At least not mine. My Mom really liked the King attitude that you told me he has. That’s what she’s looking for. The fact that he’s also willing to stand up and smack a dog also works in our favor with my Jack. The more you put us off the more you are hurting not just her but the cat as well. He could be re-​homed with someone who will love him but instead you put us off for reasons unknown to me. I get being Busy but a rescue should not be so busy that they don’t have the time to adopt out what they currently have. If I have not heard from you by Saturday the 4^th with a time/​date and/​or application we will assume that you are not interested and stop holding out hope.
April 4^th — Our application is supposed to be back in today. We still don’t have a time to meet the cat or a location. Given our time constraints on only being able to look on Sunday and Monday we need to know absolutely if we will be able to meet with the cat so that if not we can look at other rescues on Sunday. E-​mails and Phone calls being ignored I found a review stating that she replies to text. So I sent her a text. The following is exactly what was said.
— Tamera, This is the last time I am going to try to get information on meeting/​adopting Ryan kitty. My mom is very interested and is serious about wanting a new companion. If you don’t want to adopt Ryan to us you need to tell me so we can start looking elsewhere. He could be in a good loving home. Is this not what you want?”
— (K9 R&R) «I’ve had a family tragedy so have been of sorts was not doing much rescue for a bit I’m sorry. I won’t be doing anything with the cats for the time being.»
— Perhaps Next time you should tell a person that instead of promising to send them an application and then not
— (K9 R&R) That was before the incident. I have not sent anyone anything
— That was Thursday night that you promised my mom you would send an application
*** I feel no need to further reply on any of this. People can use their best judgement as to whether this is harassment or an actual attempt to do things on the time schedule we were told we would have. My last final point is that we never had a specific time or location to meet (or an application to return by Saturday)

My boyfriend and I adopted from Tamera’s rescue almost a year ago now so I thought it would be a good time to write a review.
The only reason I took one star off was because Tamera was hard to reach and coordinate a meeting with, but I imagine it’s a lot of work taking care of and rehome-​ing all of her dogs so we didn’t let it de rail us. That being said we were able to meet with her and the dog we were interested in within two weeks of initially contacting her.
Tamera is amazing with dogs and you can tell she really knows what she is doing. When she left us to foster our to-​be dog Harley (now named Charlie) she gave us so many helpful training tips. She also left is with top of the line dog food and treats, along with a probiotic supplement and human grade salmon oil for him!
Anyway, long story short, we absolutely love our Charlie (a shiba inu mix) and though Tamera was just a little hard to get a hold of, it was well worth it. We can’t believe how lucky we got to find our perfect match, and Tamera definitely had a lot to do with that.

I was initially interested in adopting a black terrier mix puppy. I filled out the paper work and Tamara called me in a few days. After talking to her shortly she told me that she thought the black terrier mix would not be a perfect match for me but there was white puppy up for adoption and thought he (Charlie) would be a better match. I was looking for a dog I would be able to jog with and also one that I could bring to the office. I made an appointment to meet both puppies. After meeting both puppies I realized that she was absolutely right! Charlie is the perfect dog for me. I would highly recommend!

Tamera helped us find the sweetest dog! We have had him for a week now and the adoption process was easy, quick, and well coordinated. We originally came to look at another dog, but after talking with Tamera, she brought out a dog that she thought would fit our lifestyle and she was right! We fostered our dog for a week and then decided to go through with the adoption. Tamera was knowledgeable, helpful, and runs a great rescue. We would highly recommend getting a rescue pup from her!

I can’t explain how blessed I feel to have found this rescue. This summer my boyfriend and I decided our 5 year old pitty Lola needed a sibling. We didn’t really have preferences in terms of what we were looking for, I didn’t want a puppy and my boyfriend wanted to venture outside the bully​/​pitty​breed. We were completely new to adoptions and rescues but both agreed we would rescue before ever purchasing a dog. We got our 5 year old​Pitbull from one of those «I can’t keep this dog anymore» posts on craigslist when she was just 6 weeks old.
We cruised web listings and stumbled upon a 1 year old male husky that we both liked. My boyfriend emailed the rescue with the​Husky and got a response shortly after. Tamara set us up with an appointment that same weekend to meet us, our doggy and find a good match for us. We came on Saturday afternoon to K9 R&R, it is a huge property that is clean, fenced and well organized. Through a friendly and casual get to know you session Tamara asked questions to learn more about our home, work schedules, things we liked to do for fun, etc. Our doggy roamed the yard and socialized. We met the​H​usky we initially came to see and then realized he was not the best match for us.​Tamara one by one brought out numerous doggies for us to meet and see how we meshed.
After meeting several, she brought out a 5 month old mastiff mix named Alvin. It was definitely love at first sight! Tamara discussed to reasons why she thought this match would work and she was completely right. Lola as an older dominant female provided the perfect companion and doggy mentor for little baby Alvin. Once we were both sure about fostering Alvin, Tamara went over his health issues, history, medications, etc. we agreed to an initial foster period of one month to see how things went. Tamara sent Alvin home with us along with a kennel, blanket, treats, food, medication absolutely everything he needed. She fully disclosed his vet schedule, treatments and we didn’t feel in the dark about any of his conditions.​During the 30 day foster period, we checked in with each other regularly, whether​it was us sending her pictures from hiking and swimming outings or her just calling to see how he was doing.
I’m so glad we got to meet to someone who was able to guide us through this process and helped select the perfect addition to our little family. Alvin fits right into our active lifestyle and he and our other doggy Lola are inseparable. We are both very grateful to Tamara for what she does and the amount of love she gives all the dogs in her care. Hearing her talk about first rescuing Alvin from CA, having him sleep in her bed with her really made me confident this organization is one with a genuine passion in helping dogs that really need it.

I honestly wish I could give Tamera and her shelter more than 5 stars. I have never met someone who cares sooo much about the animals she cares for.
When my boyfriend and I began looking for a dog to add to the family we were shot down a lot for being young, or never having really owned our own dog (although we both have had family dogs throughout our lives), which was really upsetting. We were about to take a break from looking for a dog for a while until we came across K9 Rehab and Rescue. We actually found two dogs that we really liked on this website. We decided to give the place a call just in case. Tamera answered the phone catching me off guard because I was expecting an animal shelter run by multiple people, not one run by one person. She asked me which dogs we were interested in, and asked us about ourselves. She decided we might be a good fit for one of the dogs so she emailed us an application. Within a few hours we were on our way to Auburn to look at the two dogs we were curious about.
When we first arrived we introduced ourselves and she brought out the first dog we were looking at, Allie, who was a Carolina Dog/​Boxer mix. My boyfriend and I completely fell in love with the dog. We spent about 45 minutes hanging out with the dog and getting to know her. We did notice however that she was very independent, and didn’t pay much attention to us.
Then she brought out the second dog we were interested in which was Abraham, an Australian Shepherd/​German Shepherd mix. My boyfriend was dying to get a German shepherd but I was a little skeptical because I knew I wouldn’t be able to handle such a big dog. To my surprise, Abraham was much smaller than I expected, weighing only about 45 lbs. She told us at first that Allie would probably be a better fit for us because Abraham was verrryyy energetic. As he came into the yard to play, we started to realize how good of a dog he really was. While talking to Tamera, Abraham came and laid right by us. We spend a good hour with him playing fetch and seeing how he got along with our other dog, Sammy.
After a while we all decided that Abraham was definitely a good fit for the family. Tamera explained the adoption process, where we would take care of Abraham for about a week, and keep in constant contact through phone calls and emails to make sure everything went well.
After only having Abraham (whose new name is Achilles), for a few days I knew we were going keep him. The fact that Tamera spent so much time with us that first day (about 4 hours), just hanging out with us and letting us really get to know the dogs, meant a lot. After about a week an a half both Tamera and I decided we didn’t to wait any longer. She made things even easier on my boyfriend and I by having one of the women she works with, who lives in Edmonds (we live in lynnwood), meet up with us to finalize everything so we wouldn’t have to drive all the way down to Auburn again. I could not have asked for a better adoption experience.
If you are considering adopting a dog, I highly recommend that you go through Tamera. She is amazing at what she does, and genuinely cares about the animals she cares for. It makes me wish I had the time and energy to do this too. Thank you again Tamera for helping us find our new dog!(:

I am down grading my review to less than one star. I have no problem with matter of fact and honesty. But when you say my daughter was «not interested in any other dog» & «refused to leave the store», you obviously don’t remember us very well.
First off, no child of mine could browbeat me into adopting/​choosing a dog. I would have left her at the store. That just did not happen.
Secondly, both she & I asked to see other dogs (at least three!) and were rebuffed.
I didn’t think it was ever a good idea to just look at the one dog, but you were in charge of them, so it wasn’t my decision. You also brought up the foster for a week idea, unsolicited & about only the one dog.
All my daughter ever did was show love & kindness toward the only dog YOU let her interact with.
I doubt any parent that reads about your treatment (& comments) re: my kid will be in any hurry to adopt a dog from you.
Seriously, when you deal with people, stop the game playing. Especially with people’s kids. If you think a dog is too nervous for a family– say that! Jeez! I shouldn’t be hearing it for the first time in your reply to my negative Unilocal review.
There is no way you could have found us a dog. You didn’t know the first thing about us. And for that, the fault is yours…

I have had a great experience fostering a dog for K9 Rescue and Rehab. It should be said that K9 R&R is run by a single individual who organizes volunteers (who work at the shelter, which is actually her home), and foster families, and finds homes and sponsors for sometimes 60+ dogs at a time. Whenever I talk to her she is getting ready for a transport of sick dogs to come her way, and then driving down to Portland to deliver a dog or two to a new home, and then off for a home visit to see how another adoption is playing out.
Because of this, she has the final say over which dogs are ready for adoption and who can adopt them. I think that potential adopters and foster parents should keep that in mind, and if they don’t like it probably adopt/​foster through a different organization. From my experience all her decisions are solely based upon what she thinks is best for the dogs. When she was looking into potential homes for my foster dog she was very discerning.
Occasionally Tamera, the owner, might take a day or two to respond to phone calls and emails but she has always responded promptly to texts. During the fostering process, 8 months, we received a lot of support from her!
The foster pup had to recover from a cold and skin infection in order to be healthy enough for his leg to be amputated, and then recover from the amputation. He also had worms. Anytime we had any questions Tamera contacted me back within 24 hours, and provided me with all the medication he needed asap! She has her own vets and medications from them, since I don’t think she could afford to pay for medication and treatment on a case-​by-​case basis.

My experience with Tamera and this organization has been anything but VERY devastating and an emotional roller coaster ride for me and my family. My mother who lives in WA was introduced to a puppy who’s mother was rescued from a shelter in CA. She knew I was looking to adopt a dog so she called me to ask me if I was interested. She sent me pictures and my family and I became so excited to think we would get another dog back into our lives. We had lost our beloved Maltese of 11 years in March and felt a deep void in our lives.
I called Tamera in late July and I introduced myself and told her who was and that I lived in CA and was interested in adopting the puppy (Oliver). She asked me a few questions and sent me the adoption forms. I filled thoroughly completed the form and emailed her the form along with detailed pictures of our home and waited. I waited for over a week to hear back from Tamera but no response. I waited another week and emailed her to let her know that I had purchased a ticket to fly up in Sep to visit my parents and hopefully pick up little Oliver.
Tamera finally emailed me back 2 days ago and told me I didn’t qualify to adopt Oliver because I’m from California. Here’s her exact words:
«I’ve gone back and forth about this decision and have finally decided that I will allow little Oliver to be adopted by the fostering family instead of sending him out of state. There are SO many small dogs in the California area, and I just don’t feel comfortable sending back another, un-​neutered male to the state from which he came (well, kind of, since his mama was pregnant when she came here).
If you’d like, I can help you find a little puppy similar to this from a rescue local to you.
California kills numerous thousands of dogs every week… I would love to help just one more make it out of these places. This is why so many out-​of-​state rescues pay so many additional fees to bring dogs out of Ca.»
Why am I being penalized for all the animal treatment in CA?! For someone who studied in CA, it’s pretty amazing how she thinks of everyone who lives here are dog killers. I DEFINITELY do not recommend this organization to anyone who is interested in saving a dog, especially if you live in CA.

We had a wonderful experience adopting our new dog through K9 Rescue and Rehab. I found a dog that I was interested on Petfinder and set up an appointment to meet her. After reading our application, Tamera suggested another dog might be a better fit for our family. She was right! Our new dog is absolutely a perfect fit and we could not be happier.
Tamera works tirelessly saving lives of unwanted dogs. She takes excellent care of them and provides a clean and safe environment. She carefully reviews applications and conducts thorough interviews to make sure the dogs are placed in good homes. She was always professional and courteous. She came to our home to drop off our dog (with crate/​food/​other supplies) and then returned to finalized the adoption a week later. I really appreciated the fact that dogs are first placed on a foster-​basis, which ensures the dog/​people are a good fit.
Can’t say enough good things about our experience with K9 R & R!

We had a terrific experience with K9 R+R and Tamera! Phone call and email were returned within the hour, friendly but thorough! Tamera isn’t going to adopt these pups out to anybody and her dedication to finding them the perfect home is appreciated.
She is organized and the pups are in great shape, she even sends them with food, treats and in our case a blanky to comfort them! We donated more than the adoption fee because I know that people working in rescue work hard and are often under-​appreciated.
I highly reccommend adopting from K9 R+R and when it’s time to get another pup in the future I will check with her first! We are thrilled with our little girl pup!

Wow, this Tamara person running this adoption/​rescue agency needs her license revoked. She’s got HORRIBLE people skills, I fear how she may really treat animals. She was extremely rude on the phone. After listening to her negative attitude for 20 minutes, I finally just hung up the phone. Then, she used her caller ID and called me back and left a NASTY message on my voice mail. People like this have no business adopting out pets. Her attitude goes beyond the concern for animal or potential owner and resulted in down right RUDE and then ABUSIVE attitude. Animals usually develop some of their personality from the owners, even if a temporary shelter owner. I can’t imagine adopting an animal from such a petty and vindictive woman.

I had many dogs in my childhood and ever since I’ve moved to Canada 3 years ago I have been thinking about adopting a dog. I started to look for dogs on petfinder and quickly I found a couple matches at the K9 R&R. I soon started to look into the reviews about this shelter and with exception of a couple negative comments, people for the most part were quite happy with her services and therefore I decided to give it a chance. At first I was expecting just a regular shelter; however, after I drove to Kirkland (from Vancouver BC) to visit the shelter I ended up coming back with a great dog plus a very big appreciation of the good work Tamera does with so many dogs. I guess the main problem of many people looking to adopt dogs is that they feel that shelters should be like a pet store and the dog is just merchandise. Most of these people also barely have experience with dogs and for the most part just sound like they are looking more for a doll than a dog! Complaining about a dog coming out of a shelter because it has worms its beyond reasonable and that was what gave me the incentive to write this review. Dogs in general get worms!!! When you adopt a dog you are not getting a puppy from a breeder with all perfect health screenings and etc… You are instead saving a life, and should be proud to do so. A dog isn’t cheap and a shelter dog is far from a perfect scenario dog. When adopting a dog, regardless of the shelter it came from, the first stop you should be making is to your vet to be reassessed and dewormed again (doesn’t matter if the shelter already did it or not!). Deworming isn’t expensive and should be done yearly at the least! Because of the unknown upbringing and genetics of your adopted dog, I highly suggest you to get dog insurance as a way to protect yourself from unexpected bills later on.
Regardless of all of this, my own experience with Tamera was very positive. She operates mostly by herself taking care of dozens of dogs on her own property. Most of her dogs come from high kill shelters in very bad shape and Tamera does miracles to save their lives. Tamera assessed our lives and pretty much suggested what dog would be the best match for us. We could not have picked a better dog than the one we got. Of course she’s still a dog, and as any dog, she is not perfect. She has a bit of separation anxiety and when we got her she was totally untrained. But also think; she was just a couple days to be euthanized in LA before Tamera saved her. When we picked her she was still very skinny and just in the process of gaining weight. But again, this is not a doll; dogs require extensive training and dedication to become good pets. Anyone should have this in mind before adopting a dog, especially a bully breed which was my case! She is now becoming an adorable companion, with lots of personality and a very docile manner. All what I have to say is: thank you Tamera for the great work you do!

We are VERY happy to have our pup and thank Tamara for keeping such a clean and, amazingly, QUIET kennel area. We too had issues with getting in touch with them and had to worm and chip at our own expense contrary to what was promised. However, when I consider that it is basically ONE PERSON taking in and sheltering so many dogs, with not a lot of help from anyone else, I think we got a pretty great deal.
For one person to keep 20 plus dogs in a CLEAN kennel, feed them, etc. is fairly amazing. Please remember that this is not the Humane Society or even a pet store. This place works completely on donations and volunteer help.
I encourage everyone to volunteer at a local shelter, they need you!

Our experience with K9 R&R started off wonderfully. We met our baby Steele at her house in Kirkland and fell in love. She sent us home with a three-​day foster set-​up to make sure we were the right fit for each other. When Steele got to our house, he was instantly right at home and it was immediately apparent that we were going to adopt this dog. We sent updates to Tamara, and thought all was well.
Sunday came around, the day that she was supposed to do a home visit. She sent an e-​mail to reschedule, which happens… things come up. So, we set a new date for Tuesday. That was the last we heard from her for almost a week. Worried about what might have been going on, we sent numerous e-​mails and left a couple of voicemails on her rescue number hoping to get a response. After a day or two, her mailbox was full and we still hadn’t heard back. We feared the worst and hoped that she’d respond. My plan was to go to the shelter my next day off if we still hadn’t heard from her.
I was out for a walk with Steele when he stopped to poop. Noticing something irregular in his pile, I picked it up to investigate… there was a weird object that looked like a spaghetti noodle, that is, until it squirmed! Needless to say, I threw it in the poop bag and ran to our vet. Steele had roundworms. $ 170 later, our little man seemed to be doing just fine. The vet said it takes 2 – 6 weeks for larvae to get to the stage they were at. We had to treat him with worming and flea medication, and were told that he needed to put on a few more pounds [because of the parasites] Still having not heard from Tamara, I sent her yet another e-​mail, obviously annoyed. At this point, I had started to get angry. I let her know that he was sick and had been to the vet, and informed her that we wanted to adopt him immediately and have copies of all of his vet records.
Less than two hours later, I received a call from her. Apparently, it took a sick dog to even get a call back. She told me that she had wormed him with Drontal [which was handwritten by her on the vet records we received] and that she had no idea he has worms. She told us that a few weeks ago, she took 8 week old puppies into her rescue kennel while they were puking up 8 inch worms and didn’t mention this to us until after we’d discovered the problem. This particular type of worms is not only highly contagious within the canine species, but it also easily transmitted to humans. We had been unknowingly exposing ourselves, dozens of dogs at multiple dog parks and our families [including infants and toddlers] to Steele because we hadn’t been informed. She told me on the phone, «If I had known he still had worms, I mean, ever had worms, I never would have adopted him out in the first place.» BINGO! This led me to believe that she was not only fully aware of his case of worms, but withheld this important piece of information. Now, if I had known this up front, it would not have been an issue. It could have been handled accordingly without putting others at risk.
During this phone call, she also had the audacity to yell at me for not returning her messages [which I never got] and accused me of not having a working phone. Now, I work for a wireless company. My phone HAS to work, and I know for a fact that it did because I was in touch with my boss all day on the date that she supposedly made multiple phone calls and left multiple messages. It sounded like she was trying to get herself off the hook. She told me that she had to fire an employee, that she had a lot going on [don’t we all?] and frankly, it pissed me off.
I talked to her in a calm manner and finally got her to take a deep breath. Once she realized I wasn’t angry [or was at least calm], she set up another home visit time with us. She showed up an hour late and was here for less than five minutes before the conversation started to go south again. We disagreed about who was responsible, and about the vet bill. Because we were fostering him at the time, I was under the impression that things of this nature would be taken care of by the rescue unless otherwise noted. She tried to go through the vet bill and tell me what she would and would not pay for [the bill consisted of wormer, flea medication, a fecal test, and an exam charge… all necessary due to her negligence.] She tried to say that we’d be paying this bill anyway and tried to pass it back off onto us. When I told her that I wasn’t willing to pay his full adoption fee of $ 285 in addition to the vet bill that occurred only because she sent us a sick dog without warning, she tried to take Steele out of our apartment — after the adoption paperwork was signed and done.
We wound up writing her a $ 176 check, which she accepted and got her to leave, but not before being screamed at in our own home, and having to threaten to call the cops if she didn’t leave or tried to leave with our dog. While we love Steele and are glad to have him, this shelter was an absolute nightmare.
