Summit Clean Air

Bought this deal off Groupon for $ 39.99.
I was expecting the company Air duct us (that’s what is advertised in groupon).
To my surprise, when they arrived on their ETA, their van and uniform says Summit clean air… Hmmm???
I asked «are you guys the Aid duct us from groupon? The guy responded «uhm ya were all the same.»
Hmm really…
Anyway, he then checked where all the vents are and i pointed where my furnace is (which is up in the attic) they started working. One (the «supervisor») is up in the attic. The other guy started connecting the big vacuum tube to my vent and he started vacuuming up the other vents. I should’ve kept an eye on him to make sure he did vacuum all my vents (i have a 5 bedroom house).
But i was just downstairs checking my mails, then the supervisor came down and showed me a pic of how dirty my furnace is, and that it has to be deep cleaned for $ 350, and they also have to deep clean all the vents for additional $ 120… Are you serious?!
Then i said no i dont have the budget for that.
He then called his boss to ask if they can give me more discount. which they did will give me $ 25 off.
Hmmm still no thanks. Then he keeps trying to talk me out of it… saying «oh its almost winter time, you havent had your furnace/​vents cleaned in so long… It can break soon… Tadadadada…» Sounds pretty convincing that if i really have the budget for it, i probably woulda fell for it… But nope, i am sticking to my monthly budget! Lol.
Anyway, i kept telling him that, then he offered «okay, i can give you a deal for $ 400 flat for all of them, but it has to be cash». foreal? I started to feel like theres really something shady going on & i said hold on let me check my bank account on my phone… But i quickly searched this summit clean air company in google and thank God i found the other Unilocalers reviews!!! You guys saved me.
In my deal the dryer vent is included, and i read in other peoples review that after they declined the «upgrades» the technicians quickly left without cleaning the dryer vents. So i quickly asked them about it and i didnt leave them alone since. I watched them the whole time. They we’re here for a good 40 – 50 minutes.
Now that i think about it, i wonder if that «really dirty furnace» picture is really my furnace… I mean it could be someone else’s really dirty furnace that he could just saved on his phone and use that to scam people… But who knows.
Anyway, So if you guys still get these people. Just dont be pressured with their high pitch. Just say you are broke. Lol. And keep an eye on them. Literally, follow them and ask questions if they vacuumed this or that yet etc. but for $ 39.99… I guess it’s pretty worth it that they did the basic vacuum… But $ 400+ upgrades? Haaaaillll no kitty!

I can tolerate loss-​leader pricing or bait-&-switch sales techniques, however at the very least you must honor the deal you advertise even if your customers aren’t all suckers who you can scare into turning a $ 39 duct cleaning into an additional $ 575+ system cleaning. My technician was super polite, but as soon as he realized I wasn’t simply going to roll over and let him do the more expensive job he essentially packed up and left without doing the work he was supposed to have come for yet still charged me for it. On principle I wanted to argue, but it wasn’t worth letting this terrible company waste any more of my time.
When they entered my home they claimed they needed to know where all of the vents were so they could cover them all up so their special vacuum could get a good seal and remove all the dust from the lines which it would do in approximately 30 minutes. They counted out all the vents (undoubtedly to establish how much they could charge me «per vent» to do the larger job – even though many share a line and you can simply hit the ones on the end of the line), but after looking at the furnace and explaining to me why it was critical we do all this additional work and my repeating several times I just wanted the service I’d hired them for they ended up covering up the floor vents on the main floor only (none of the ceiling vents in the finished daylight basement) and despite this lack of seal that was so important minutes before they determined their work was done within a few minutes of my saying «no thanks» to the additional work (the vacuum was definitely not on a full 30 minutes). Part of the package was supposed to include cleaning our dryer vent, however though I saw them lug the Shop Vac downstairs (which would by no means have the suction force necessary to clean a dryer line) they somehow magically managed to accomplish cleaning our dryer line with never turning on said Shop Vac or even pulling the machine away from the wall which considering it’s nestled between the washer & a cabinet and has cabinets mounted directly above it (and is an XL capacity machine with a rug in front of it so it would take two people to slide out), somehow despite all this they supposedly cleaned our dryer lines… which if I didn’t know any better would mean I’d assumed it had been done and would figure we were in good shape for another year or two – leaving us with a substantial fire hazard!
That’s way beyond bait-&-switch. That’s borderline fraud in my opinion, to say nothing of the terrible ethics of giving someone the false impression their heating & dryer ducts were clean leaving them with a potential fire hazard. I can only hope these guys fold before someone’s home burns down or someone dies because of their unethical business practices.
Not to mention the fact when they left they supposedly turned the furnace back on (hit the thermostat) but neglected to put the cover plates back on the furnace which makes the furnace inoperable – fortunately I know how to reinstall these plates, but had I not I’d have either had to call them back or call someone else for help… Definitely not worth the $ 39, best case I’d say they were a useless waste and time of money, worst case they are putting people’s homes and lives at risk.
I’m not against the bargain clean-​out in hopes of landing more business, I’ve gone through several of them in the past, the difference is every other company I’ve used still did a totally fair job when once you’d denied them the additional work, Summit Clean Air doesn’t even come close to being as «ethical» as their bait-&-switch competitors.
In conclusion I’d like to say all of the information written below is based on my own opinions and perceptions and I do not intend for it to be taken as fact – you never know when companies like this will get desperate and start suing their former customers who were displeased with their services for slander so since I hope this review will be the last of my time they waste I wanted to make it clear I the information listed above is merely my personal perceptions and none of it is intended to be warranted as 100% factual information… though if you check out all the other reviews (with the exception of one 5 star review pertaining to a different branch of this company in San Diego, not the office in Washington State) I believe you will see an incredibly consistent pattern.

What a scam!!! I bought a duct cleaning on Amazon Local. The young «technician» was really a sales guy that came out and upsold us to $ 500! What a scam! Do not use this service!

Just had a fantastic experience with Leo cleaning out our vents in our condo. He explained everything clearly and worked quickly and efficiently and provided outstanding customer service. I would highly recommend Leo for all of your air duct needs here in San Diego!

This company should be ashamed of themselves! I too purchased the deal on Living Social for $ 39. They show up then the upsell starts. Oh you need this and that just look up in that vent our «general» cleaning which is what you paid for will not get that out you’ll have to pay an extra $ 220 for deep clean and sanitation. After every «no» from us the price kept dropping. Finally he says ok I’ll do the cleaning and sanitation for only $ 149. Thank God I took a moment to look on Unilocal while they were standing there. So shady…

I found this company via Groupon. I have to say, I am glad I checked the reviews on here as I will not be using their duct cleaning services.
I filled out the «Contact Us» form on their website to ask if they would honor the $ 35 price without purchasing the Groupon deal. Not only did the sales girl not answer my question, the subject line said «Air Duct Cleanin Appointment Scheduling» and came from a random gmail account. For a company that offers CLEANING services, they should probably learn how to spell «cleaning.»

I bought the living social deal and it turned out to a salesman coming to me house keeping selling me extremely expensive service, and when my husband turned down him for the third time, he stopped talking and said that his man had done today’s job and left… I should have checked the review on Unilocal,now I just wasted $ 49 and had a very unpleasant afternoon!

you honestly can’t hire a WORSE company than this. BEWARE! the guy asked if we would like him to spray down the internal vans in our vents with some antibacterial solution so we gave the go ahead. only afterwards, we discovered our service cost had DOUBLED because spraying it with that lame alcohol (which you can totally do yourself with isopropyl, people) was 40 bucks EACH VENT. way to let us know beforehand. he also suggested that if their service didn’t help my allergies, then it was «all in my head.» uh… right. maybe this comment was made in an effort to legitimize their business. regardless, it’s just something you don’t say to a customer. worst experience ever.

I bought the Amazon Local $ 49 coupon for whole house air duct cleaning.
The scheduling was done smoothly. The technicians did show up courteously on time and was quite professional. They used negative-​pressure (ie reverse pressure) by sucking only from one vent through a large hose to the outside of the house while blocking all the other ones. They inspected the supply duct, the furnace and a few vents in detail. They took pictures and showed me that my vents need deep cleaning. I would agree with them.
However, the whole thing after 1 hr was a total up sell. At the end, they quoted me almost $ 1400 + a potential of 30% disccount with local big company affiliation for a deep clean on the 2 return ducts, 13 vents, furnace blower and heater cleaning. Best of all, the squeeky clean vents can be accomplished in 2 hrs. $ 1400 for 2 hrs of work? Are you kidding me?
That was a $ 49 dollar lesson. Now it’s time to look for research on a more reputable company.
Advice to everyone, avoid the über cheap Amazon Local coupons on air duct cleaning.

The vacuum Summit used to attempt to clean our vents would not even pick up a 2″ piece of paper towel. It had absolutely no suction… they told us that it unfortunately had a dirty filter and that is why it did not suck… They dried repeatedly to sell us more service… We finally told them to pack their equipment up and get out. When we called their office the owner told us he would send a refund check. They were total shysters.
If I could give them no stars I would or even minus stars.

I purchased a Living Social deal for Summit Clean Air for $ 49 for a «negative-​pressure cleaning for an unlimited number of vents of one furnace, plus deodorizer or cleaning of one cold air return or dryer vent». In a nutshell you pay $ 49 for them to get into your house and start the upsell! From there they hook up the big unit and then remove your cold air return vent and perform the «white glove test». Of course this results in dirty fingers. For $ 79 they recommend that you have your cold air returns cleaned. Since I was kind of horrified, and had recently had some remodeling done I agreed to it. Then they open up the furnace and take a picture of the inside which is also dirty. For an additional $ 89 they REALLY recommend that this needs to be cleaned. They tell you that if you’re doing all this work to clean the rest of the system, why have the furnace blowing dirty air back into your house. From there they remove the heating vents… of course those should be cleaned too… $ 39 per vent! So you let them into your house for $ 49 and then end up getting pressured into all the other cleanings… whopping total $ 578!
Pretty much what they’re using is a rotating brush attachment to a drill to loosen the built up dust from the sides and then this is sucked up with a lousy shop vac (seriously– my shop vac at my house is better than the one the «professionals» are using. These are NOT professional or high tech tools– anyone can do this by themself. Same thing with the dryer vent cleaning– shop vac! They didn’t even clean the inside lint trap area — I had to ask for this to be done.
They also left the house dirty– they wore booties, but then wore them outside and tracked in dirt. They took off the vent in one room and gouged the drywall. They don’t clean the vents, so unless you’re there following them around you’re still blowing back «dirty air» into your house from.
I’m sure that cleaning out your ducts is a great idea, but buyer beware! Know what you’re getting into before you buy and do the research BEFORE you let them into your house!

If I could give them no star I would. They came on some deal for $ 89 and then when they got to my house and they wanted me to pay $ 2600 to clean my air ducts. As soon as I said no, they clean up and they were done. They charged me, and I seriously still don’t know what they did.

I would give them negative star if I could as this service had led to small claims due to their dishonest business practice. Avoid dealing with them if you don’t want to be overcharged 4x the original quoted amount.
The guy you are dealing with is a salesman who use flowery words to legitimize what he is charging without any shame and conscience.
Go figure what will happen to them next if this practice continues…

I have to agree 100% with the prior reviewer. I also got an AmazonLocal, which was for a whole house air duct cleaning. The technicians seems nice. But then I got the major upsell too, for an additional $ 500. The thing is, most air duct cleaning companies include the service they were upselling for much less, which I knew. When I didn’t jump at the chance to pay them an additional $ 500, he came back a little later and said he talked the company into giving me a 30% discount because I couldn’t afford the service. What??? I guess if you don’t want to overpay for a service, it means that you can’t afford it?
I still want my air ducts actually cleaned, so I contacted another company with 5 stars on Unilocal and they are doing the whole house for $ 375. Actual cleaning this time, not bait and switch.
Also, after the negative pressure vacuum, they shop vac-​ed the lower floor registers but not the second floor. And after they left, I noticed they left all the registers closed. That didn’t seem professional to me. But just my opinion.

The young technicians seemed nice and polite enough. They called us ahead of time for their ETA. However, they did a major upsell. They tried to sell us $ 550 worth of services we didn’t need.
We didn’t expect this local vendor as it was supposed to be performed by Fresh Breeze Air Duct Cleaning (via Amazon Local deals). They didn’t clean the cold air return even though it was included in the deal. They also forgot to replace one vent cover and left the place dirty. I’d avoid both companies if you want honest service.

Avoid this company at all costs. I agree with the other reviewer. They are crooked and try to overcharge you. Or worse yet, they tell you something needs repair when it doesn’t! They told us we had a torn duct underneath the house and would cost $ 500 to repair. I was at work and asked my son to go underneath the house to find the tear that they claimed was there. Of course, they couldn’t find the tear when they went underneath the house with my son.
Then they try to sell you services you don’t need. Trust me, stay away from this company!

Well, like all the other reviews, these guys are much more interested in selling you ‘upgrades’ then actually cleaning your ducts. I ended up paying $ 89 plus tax for them to use a shop vac to clean out my registers. I told the guy up front I didn’t want any extra services but he insisted on pestering me while his partner stalked around my house with his vacuum. I had a friend who watched over the other guy and I would suggest if you hire this company you keep a close eye on exactly what both ‘technicians’ (read — aggressive salesman) are doing. Then again, they don’t do much but offer upgrades. No matter what price they are offering, if you have a halfway decent vacuum cleaner you can perform the service yourself.

My office manager called them in to clean my office building on Benson Hill. Our ducts have not been cleaned in over 10 years. UGH! On top of that a mouse chewed through our ducts and died making our office smell. They came in, cleaned all of the ducts, cleaned our furnace, patched the holes and even reattached some ducts that were blowing under the building. Took them 4 hours but well worth it.

Wow, these guys are super helpful. I bought one of those PERK deals for unlimited air ducts. I had no idea cleaning your air ducts was different from cleaning the furnace. After they cleaned all of the ducts they asked me if I wanted to do anything to the furnace or return. I had no idea! I couldn’t tell you the last time the furnace was cleaned! They walked me through every step, drew diagrams to help me understand. I Instantly noticed a difference in the air quality, smell and temperature. I normally have a runny nose and sneeze in the morning (allergies I guess) but not since Summit Clean Air came to my rescue!

Purchased a deal from Seattle Perks for an air duct cleaning for ³⁄₂₇.
My fiancé was the person home and was convinced he had to pay an extra 38 (on top of $ 55) for some «furnace inspection» during which a thousand dollar job was found to be needed. The guy was putting on the high pressure, but my fiancé was NOT interested with out further research. He almost had to ask him to leave.
After they left I found out several things:
1. There was dirt and debris left near most ducts
2. 1 metal vent was not fully installed back in place, nor mentioned
3. A company at the same address (kirkland was listed at the time) had recently gone out of business under the name Pacifica Air care, who under BBB had some terrible reviews, shoddy work and high pressure sales.
4. Name written on business card left just happens to be listed of owner of Pacifica Air care, Mr Lior Klain
I hope no one else has to experience this high pressure tactics. No one should have a service call for $ 55 turn in to a $ 1078+ job on short notice.
I hope Seattle Perks returns all buyers money before they can support this companies practices.
