Exceptional Electric

Used HomeAdvisor. Sent a guy out who was nice and got here quick, but obviously not equipped to handle the problem. Spent four hours and charged $ 365 to fix nothing. Waited days, then had to call for a receipt and to remind them to send proposal for re-​wiring that guy said I would need/​should get. After waiting so long, finally just started tinkering around with it. Lo and behold, fixed it. Didn’t even have to get into the walls to find it. I’m definitely upset I was charged so much for nothing being found or fixed even after over four hours. Fixed it AND more in less than three hours and spent less than $ 100 to do so. They might be good for simple jobs, but definitely wouldn’t suggest them for anything that even looks remotely involved.

I’ve used Exceptional a couple of times for small jobs in our 100+ year old house. They figure out some crazy wiring that had been done in the past and it’s worked great ever since. Easy to work with, show up on time, fairly priced. Wish I could find other contractors like these guys.

Final update. The new company came today and found that the serviceman did not replace the entire component of the mother board. He did not replace the relay switches which were part of the component. I don’t know if the warranty company was charged or not. Why he would not install the entire component as it came, we do not know. It was part of the package. Once again, I did not recommend this company. One star because the system requires it.

I used Home Advisor and you’d think that would be easy. But this is the first company that called me back that seemed professional and reasonable. And that is how it turned out to be. Two other companies did return my call, the first made an appointment and never showed up. The second company called, but couldn’t get to me for five days. But Exceptional Electric fit me in the very same day they called, at a time that was convenient for me. They said they would call ahead when on the way, they did. They were exactly on time, knowledgeable, professional, and polite. I needed two kitchen outlets replaced entirely, the technician, L., took the time to go to a supply place to match the color of outlets I had. Given the high level of service I thought the prices were reasonable. You might say I could have replaced those outlets myself. I don’t know how to do that. So if I am going to pay, I want the experience to be smooth and convenient, just like it was with Exceptional Electric. I’m a happy camper.

I had an outlet in my office that needed to be grounded, and after doing a bit of research (okay, I’m lying — I used servicemagic), I stumbled upon Exceptional Electric. They received good reviews, so I rolled with it.
I made a phone call and set up an appointment pretty easily. The technicians have pretty flexible hours, and I was able to get one to come by before I left for work in the morning.
The installation didn’t take too long, and the electrician was very professional and kept me informed of what was going on each step of the way. And the cost wasn’t too terrible, either!
If I ever needed any more electrical work done, I would go with Exceptional Electric again.
