Kirkwood Station Dental

This is now called Kirkwood Station Dental, which does not yet have a Unilocal presence. However, the staff is the same.
My mother was offered two options, dentures or implants, this summer. She chose the dentures. Since, we have brought her in countless times for «adjustments,» which last week meant actually leaving her dentures to be sent to a lab.
We were given a price range for each option. We’re almost at the implant price, which was significantly higher.
Every time we come in, she leaves in pain. As I type this, we have been here for three and a half hours. For a refitting. Seriously.
I also don’t appreciate that they never informed me they were not, and never would be, an Aetna in-​network provider. They just told me they accepted Aetna, and now I have giant, unnecessary co-​pays. My daughter will be getting her Invisalign elsewhere after the mess they’ve made of my mother’s mouth.

Take this review with a grain of salt since I’ve only been here a couple times.
I asked Dr. Thomure to make me a new pair of retainers (I’d lost mine). I suppose he just sends the impressions of my teeth off to a lab somewhere, but my new retainers didn’t fit well. When I went in to have them readjusted after getting a new crown, he had an assistant do the adjustment, and now the retainers fit even more poorly. She almost broke my retainers too, indicating that I should just drop $ 400 and get a new pair made. Very unprofessional.
The dental assistant who does my teeth cleaning is nice, as well as the office staff, but my experiences with dental care here haven’t been the best.

Hate to have to do this… shady practice Zero accountability. Not forthcoming with risks & information. One of the assistants is a horror.
The reason i hate to do this is I was a loyal customer for many years… even out of state.
Then one by one the experience changed. Mistakes… big ones. Insults. Not following through on promises. Taking your chances here…

I pride myself on being able to handle just about anything. I’m pretty macho when it comes to most things. Blood, feces, vomit, dead things, broken things, horrible medical procedures. Whatev.
But if you show me that you have a loose tooth? Seriously, just wiggling a loose tooth? I will completely fall apart. Not kidding you. I’m talking screaming like a little girl, covering my face and head (like that will help), and curling into a ball on the floor. Couple this with the fact that I only brush my teeth when I have a date or a job interview, and you realize my crippling fear of going to the dentist.
The only thing that drove me to actually go to the dentist for the first time in a few years today was my recurring nightmares of all my teeth falling out. My hippy friends told me that dreams about teeth falling out are symbolic of hidden insecurities, but in my case, my nightmares about teeth falling out are literally about my insecurities that all my teeth will fall out. I asked all my friends for dentist recommendations and spent hours online reading reviews of dentists, which made me not want to go to the dentist even more (every good dentist has at least one horror story review on there, man). Also, have you noticed how a lot of good dentists are booked like 3 months out? There is no way I can handle having a dentist’s appointment on my calendar for 3 months. That’s like death row for my teeth!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaanyway– now that I’ve babbled on about myself, let me tell you why this, so far, is one of, if not the, best dentists I’ve been to:
–Got me in right away
–Worked with my inflexible schedule
–Worked with my insurance and helped me when it didn’t cover the whole thing
–Coached me through it like a baby, even though I’m a grown woman
–The dentist took time to meet with me and get to know me before we even had to go into the room with the torture chair in it
–The whole staff, from the front desk to the hygienists, were so nice and caring, and really got to know me
–They told me they have patients who are way worse than me, which is a very kind and oddly comforting lie to tell me.
–This guy does braces, which is nice because even though I’ll never be able to afford braces, it’s nice to know that I wouldn’t have to go to a separate person– also his prices seem lower than other places. Is there anyone out there who never had braces whose rich parents might be looking for something to do with their unused kids’ braces fund?
Going here was great. I will most definitely maybe think about coming here again in the next several years. You should, too. If this place is that awesome for me, the dentist baby, then it’s probably like going to Disney World for a normal person.

I had braces as an adult; not a great experience, however I’m so glad I got them and now they’re gone! My orthodontist and other dental professionals were all in Champaign, IL, from where I moved.
Since moving to St. Louis, I needed to find a new dentist. Well, I found a great one in Dr. Thomure. From the time I entered the building to the time I left, the staff was very friendly and comforting.
Since it was my first time, it was an extensive visit. They thoroughly gathered my history and talked with me about my past experiences, etc. Whitney was my hygienist and was really great at explaining everything she was doing.
It was a great experience. It’s a little far for me, but I only go twice a year, so the drive is worth it. The only reason I didn’t give five-​star rating was because I don’t carry dental insurance and the self-​pay prices are a bit expensive. Of course, I didn’t ask if they offered any sort of self-​pay discount or «in-​network» discount. Perhaps they do.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Thomure for over 15 years and I can’t really complain. He’s moved locations 3 times since then and this current office is nice, though a long drive for me. It’s still worth the trek and I definitely recommend it. The staff is friendly and I trust they do a good job.
