Polynesian Isles Resort

While the room was large and well equipped, two of the three sliding glass doors were unable to be secured. Decided not to stay, and the employee at the desk they could refund the hold that had already gone on my account. Now they refuse to refund the room even though we did not stay.

Booked a reservation and checked in last minute. Property itself has a very pleasant welcome area/​front desk. Tony was very helpful. Though we didn’t specifically ask, we were given a very nice, very spacious, clean, and updated 2 bedroom unit (building 6). The master bathroom was so awesome. Dual shower. Got to really enjoy it with the hubby!
Major downfall for me was parking. Each building has approximately 4 spaces right out front. Had to park 2 buildings over, which in and of itself wasn’t an issue, however during a low season like this I would not have anticipated parking woes. I did note that most cars were at our building and the two nearest ones. Probably the resort’s method of crowd control! Concentrate everyone in one area… not sure. Overall, would certainly come back here for a family vacay and would recommend this resort to others. Enjoy

I LOVE this resort!!! Every time I come this is where I stay! The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and clean! The customer service is outstanding! Everyone is so helpful, and let me just say I bother them a lot!!! Everyone I encounter are super helpful and friendly! The resort is close to everything, but you still feel tucked away and peaceful. Very quiet and relaxing here, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else!

This place was fantastic! Check in was nice and smooth, the rooms look like they’ve been updated recently. The cabinetry is all beautiful and in great shape. We had a full kitchen, a washer/​dryer, 2 bedrooms and a pull out couch. Our bathroom was large and had a dual-​shower head. Everything was sparkling clean. They have 2 pools which are very well kept, hot tubs, a ping pong table, tennis courts, basketball court, etc. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Great place to stay, it’s affordable and very spacious. The only con is that we did not have wifi signal in our place.

I stayed here over during my trip to Orlando for 4 days and I gotta say it’s pretty good.
Full kitchen with marble island, the master bedroom had double shower heads, washer /​dryer combo and a convertible sofa.
The resort also has their own cab service to take you to the parks but you will have to pay for the taxi/​shuttle fee at the parks (not sure about Universal, this only happened when we went to DisneyWorld).
The only thing I wasn’t happy about was the Wi-​Fi connection inside. It’s strong in the hotel lobby but super weak in individual rooms.

I booked a room at Polynesian Isles through
. Within the hour, I tried to cancel the reservations because of medical reasons. I immediately called
to cancel the reservations. The agents are friendly enough, but are not very assertive. The agent called the resort to request a cancellation without penalty, but the resort denied my request. The supervisor at
felt badly and offered my a 20% refund. However, I can’t see kissing 80% of the fee away! Surely, the folks at Polynesian Isle would understand if I could just speak with them myself! So I called them directly. The person at the front desk said they would not be the one to handle it. I was transferred to Central Reservations. There, the agent told me to call
back as I had booked through them. She did not seem to understand that it was the supervisor at Diamond Resorts (the parent company of Polynesian Isles) who denied my cancellation without penalty. I asked to speak with a supervisor. However, instead of speaking with a person, I was transferred into the voicemail of Simon Lork. I left a message for Mr. Lork to return my call. In the meantime, I took the advice of the Diamond Resort agent and called
, again. There, the agent tried the same thing — to plead my request for a cancellation without penalty to Polynesian Isles. Again, I was denied. Hours later, a woman from Diamond Resorts called me back on behalf of Mr. Lork. She said that I had booked a non-​refundable room and there were no exceptions. I asked her to speak with her supervisor. She put me on hold and came back and said that her supervisor was in a meeting. He was aware of my situation as he had already rejected my request for a cancellation three previous times. I guess the only supervisor in that department is Mr. Lork. So that’s it. There is no human side to the folks running the show at Polynesian Isles. Mr. Lork would not even speak with me. Instead, he asked another employee who reports to him to return my call. That is certainly not the kind of company that values its guest relations. As a consumer, there is nothing that I detest more than companies who look at everything in black and white. There are always exceptions to the rule. With Polynesian Isles, the management is clearly not willing to connect to the guests. Mr. Lork wouldn’t even give me the time of day to say no to me himself. Instead, he had his underling do his dirty work. I am so incredibly disappointed in the management of this resort. I haven’t even stayed at Polynesian Isles, yet, and I already HATE it! I would strongly recommend booking elsewhere because you never know what might happen. Should something unfortunate happen to you, this resort will not treat you like a person. They will hide behind their policies, and take your money without apology!

Wow wow wow. This place is awesome !
Their two bedroom suite is so spacious. They’re ally exceeded my expectations. Friendly and welcoming staff. Parking was not a hassle. Room was very clean.
The only downside is that they do not have room service come daily you would need to request the service.
Other than that I would definitely come back here again.
My money was well spent here.

.We went up to Orlando for a friends wedding and a member of our group booked this hotel through hotwire. We picked it solely for the purpose of ease as well needed to be cheaper than the Disney resorts. We got a 2 bedroom suite to split for me and my BF plus my friend and her husband for only 130/​night. I didn’t really check out any amenities before getting there so as we were close by and in a residential area I was growing a little concerned. As we pulled up to the resort it was like the cloudy skies opened and then sun shone down right on the resort. The resort was kept beautifully and the staff at checkin was friendly. We get up to the room and it was HUGEEEEEE. It had a full kitchen a table that u could seat 8, two bedrooms and two bath. One bed room had double beds and a smaller bath, the other bedroom «the master bedroom» had a huge king bed and a bathroom that you’d kill for. It had a jacuzzi tub, seperate standing shower and two sinks. It also had a back balcony and a back exit. Only issue was the resort has no restaurant or bar on-​site. So if you like a cold one at the pool prepare to BYOB!

Average place compare to many. Bathroom not clean as advertized and Jacuzzi handle splitted in half. Most surprisig for me they offer discounts to Disneyworld ONLY if you attend to 90 minutes brain flushing meeting. Tried to exppain at front desk «I’m not inerested in that lection. They told me then we can’t give you discounts» :-/​. Manager smiling but she talking like she want to send you f****

What a great find in the Disney area… we were shocked by how large the suites were, large bedroom, huge kitchen, living room and 2 bathrooms! It was clean and well kept. The pool area was also nice and clean and easily accessible. As others have said the checkout time is VERY strict, they will charge you if you check out late. It is also situated in a neighborhood setting so you must have a car to get to all the surrounding attraction or even to get to a place to eat, overall I highly recommend

Great visit at the beginning of the year at the Isles. This resort is a low pressure DRI resort that has a helpful staff who wants your stay to be comfortable. We had a couple minor maintenance issues during our stay which were promptly taken care by the staff. Minor parking problems when you come back at night which you will have to park at another building on the property. Well worth the money.

Check the first review for an excellent run down of the details. We also had a 2 bedroom unit. This place was great and close to everything. One further tip — you get a starter kit of dishwasher detergent (2 packs), laundry soap (1 load), coffee (4 cups), toilet paper (2 rolls), and paper towels (1 roll). After that you need to purchase your own or obtain them from the resort at $.50 a pop. It was no problem to go to Walmart 2 min down the road and purchase small packs of these items for the week but had I known I would have packed them. Don’t forget coffee filters.
The full kitchen was nice. We ate in for two meals a day, a few days all three.
The pool was nicely heated and we swam everyday even though our visit was in December. It was decorated for Christmas and Christmas music was piped into the pool areas. The hot tub was lovely.
It was very spacious and clean. We loved the screened in balcony. Our family of five was very comfortable. The laundry rooms right beside each unit were great.
We never had to drive more than 15 – 20 minutes to any restaurant or theme park. Very nice.

This property is part of the Diamond Resorts International (formerly Sunterra) timeshare outfit. DRI owns two other resorts in Orlando (Grand Beach and Cypress Pointe), and they are a little closer to the Disney theme parks, but Polynesian Isles is still only 7 miles to Epcot and 11 miles to the Magic Kingdom, maybe a 15 minute drive away. It is also conveniently located to restaurants and shopping (i.e., outlet malls).
We stayed at this resort for the first time last week, deciding to spend our kids’ spring break in Orlando. Spring is probably the best time to visit: not too hot, not too humid, and the mosquitoes aren’t out yet. And our kids’ spring break was not at the same time as most other schools, so the theme parks weren’t crowded.
We booked a two bedroom unit. A two bedroom unit sleeps six, with two in the master bedroom, another two in a separate bedroom (two twin beds, although other units may have a queen bed instead), and two on the pull-​out sofa in the living room. The living room has a TV with a DVD player, and there are TVs in each bedroom. If you’re a smoker, there’s a screened-​in porch just off the living room with a couple of chairs, a small table, and an ashtray (there’s no smoking inside the unit), so you’ll be safe from the bugs while you enjoy your smoke.
One of the things we like about timeshare units, besides the room to spread out, is that they usually have a full kitchen, so you can cook a few meals if you don’t feel like going out all the time, or make sandwiches for the theme parks. These units were no exception, with a stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, and refrigerator/​freezer. The kitchen is stocked with cookware, utensils, and enough settings for six. We went to a nearby Super Target for groceries, including refrigerated cookie dough, and the girls were able to bake cookies for a few days.
Adequate storage, with a closet in each bedroom and large dressers. The bedrooms are a good size, with the master bedroom larger than the second bedroom. Besides the television, the bedroom has a clock radio that you could dock an iPod to. Master bathroom was excellent, with a large jacuzzi tub, a separate shower, two separate sinks, and a hairdryer. Second bathroom was about what what you’d expect from a regular hotel room, with a shower/​tub.
The unit also shares a laundry room with the unit next door (it’s located in between the two units), with a free washer & dryer, which is something you normally don’t find in timeshares. It was almost like having a private laundry available, and it was nice being able to wash dirty clothes during our trip. We knew of the laundry facilities ahead of time, so we didn’t have to pack as many clothes. With American Airlines charging $ 25 per suitcase each way, we were able to save some money by only packing two suitcases; we just did a couple loads of laundry halfway through our trip.
Resort amenities include two separate pool areas, each with its own jacuzzi, and another separate jacuzzi area in the middle of a cluster of buildings. The pools are very warm, almost as warm as the jacuzzis, and they are open until midnight, which is nice for when you come back late at night from the theme parks and the kids want to squeeze in some swimming.
My only complaint is that there is no internet access from the rooms. There is free wireless in the lobby and from the patio outside the lobby, but it’s inconvenient to lug a laptop back and forth. Plus, the lobby closes at 8PM, so if you connect from the patio at night, you’re going to have to do battle with the mosquitoes during the warmer seasons. The patio does have plenty of power outlets, though (look at the base of the supports holding the patio roof up).
For grocery shopping, there’s a Wal-​Mart Superstore and a Super Target. To get to the Wal-​Mart, head north on Polynesian Isles Blvd and turn right on Oxford Dr, which is just before the light (Hwy 535). To get to the Super Target, go south on Polynesian Isles Blvd to the next light (Hwy 192), head east on Hwy 192, and the Super Target will be on the left about 1.5 miles down Hwy 192.
Polynesian Isles is less than 20 miles from Orlando International airport and conveniently located to many restaurants. Travel south on Polynesian Isles Blvd to Hwy 192 (i.e., Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy), and you’ll see a Chili’s, a Macaroni Grill, and KrispyKreme across the street. If you turn left on Hwy 192, you’ll see a Ruby Tuesday and an IHOP. One restaurant we saw a lot of in Orlando, but didn’t try, were the Waffle Houses. We must have seen a dozen, some located fairly close to one another. Maybe something to try on our next trip.
Timeshares will sometimes book their unused inventory to non-​owners. I’m not sure what the room rates are at this particular resort (we used our timeshare points), so I can’t rate how expensive the price range is. I believe it is around $ 170 a night for a two bedroom unit.
