Hilton Garden Inn Outer Banks Kitty Hawk

Stayed here for my honeymoon. 3 nights, 3 days. The staff was very accommodating and super nice to us! The indoor pool and whirlpool were awesome, especially in October. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

This is one of the better hotels in the Outer Banks. We have stayed here before and usually really enjoy our stay, but booked a quick weekend down this trip and did not have the typical enjoyable experience. The rooms are large and clean. Service is prompt and friendly. The indoor and outdoor pools are well maintained. The pier is a great place to enjoy the sunset or people watch.
Unfortunately, this time around our room overlooked the firepit and outdoor courtyard area. Both nights of our trip there was a rather large group of people gathered outside starting around 10:00 pm. As the night got later, the group got rowdier and louder. Even when they didnt seem to be yelling, we could hear their entire conversation in our room. By the time 2:00 am rolled around they were so loud I don’t see how anyone in the hotel could be sleeping. We called the front desk and they asked the group to quiet down, but even their softer tones could still be heard in our room till the wee hours of the morning. After two sleepless nights, next time we will be opting for a quieter hotel.
Great place to stay if you are not facing the fire pit…

Bottom Line: One of only a few choices for a full service hotel in OBX.
There are not that many hotels on the Outer Banks; moreover, there are even fewer nice, full service hotels in OBX. For my recent trip to NC’s shores I had hoped to stay with a local hotel but circumstances landed me at the Hilton Garden Inn instead. I didn’t know what to expect but I was certainly pleased with this hotel and would stay here again. Here are a few notes about this hotel to help you decide if this is where you want to stay for your Outer Banks vacation:
— Hotel is oceanfront. There aren’t that many ocean front rooms so if you want one, book early. Other rooms are partial oceanfront and what that means is they are North and South facing so you can only see the ocean from your room’s balcony, not from inside the room itself.
— Hotel amenities include beach access, beach equipment rentals (for additional cost), an indoor pool, an indoor hot tub and an outdoor pool. Also, there is a small fitness center and game room. There is an onsite restaurant and bar, inclusive of an outdoor tiki bar.
— The five story hotel is well maintained and clean. The rooms are comfortable and include a refrigerator and microwave. I like that they use all white bedding in lieu of creepy, germy bedspreads. Each room has either a patio or balcony. For better views, I recommend a higher floor.
— The hotel owns the adjacent Kitty Hawk Pier and hotel guests have complimentary access to the fishing pier.

My family absolutely loved our 3-​day say at this hotel. Our room was spacious and clean. The pools are a bit on the small side, but never got too crowded, and access to the beach could not be more convenient. We had a breakfast and a lunch at the restaurant, and all the food was good and not outrageously priced like at some hotels. The service was wonderful. Everyone was very pleasant and accommodating. Our room was well taken care of, there were plenty of clean towels by the pools, and the little extras like complimentary hot beverages and ice water and fruit punch, and a sand bucket for our son were very welcome.

Beautiful and convenient location. Rooms and staff are very nice. Just don’t eat here. Worst meal I have had in quite a long while. Food came out cold and flies swarmed all over it.

We live in southern Virginia and took a mini honeymoon to kitty hawk. It was an easy drive and convenient to get to from the main road. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. The hotel is right on the beach and there is easy access to the kitty hawk pier. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our room/​balcony. The lobby is spacious, clean and open and they have a fire pit. We visited in early October so it was great to bring our drinks outside and sit around the fire pit. It was too cold to swim or go to the beach but there is plenty to do in the area. The surrounding restaurants were excellent. We are planning another trip to the outer banks for our anniversary and we will definitely be staying at the Hilton garden inn again. The only critique I have is that the price of the room was a little expensive for the off season.

Stayed here for our honeymoon — excellent experience! Expensive if you are not a member of the HHonors Points program, but if you have points available to redeem, can be very affordable. Very convenient beach access. Walking distance to Duck Donuts and High Cotton Barbecue in addition to other restaurants/​shops. Beach area was not nearly as crowded as we expected, especially during peak season. All in all, great experience!

This hotel has a lot of great qualities. It’s right on the beach, it’s clean, it has a nice outdoor pool, on-​site restaurant and bar, coin-​operated laundry, decent gym, and the staff is exceptionally friendly.
As much as I liked this place and don’t want to be negative, there are a few things about this place I would tweak. They seemed a little understaffed. (while at breakfast we waited for an omelet for almost 40 minutes and our room was never cleaned before 1:30pm). Also, the central air conditioning in our room blew right on to the bed. Every 5 minutes you were either frozen being blasted with air or sweating when it had gone off when set to automatic.

We stayed for 3 nights on the last weekend in March. It was cold (flurries could be spotted) so we couldn’t lay out on the beach, but the hotel does have direct access to the beach which is nice. We were able to go walking one day. They also have a private pier (I think). I liked the free coffee with flavored creamers, that was a nice touch. We were able to spot dolphins from our balcony so that was a bonus as well. :) The breakfast is a little pricey for what you get but it wasn’t bad and it’s nice to have it as an option so you can eat before heading out for the day. Our only complaint is that sometimes we’d come back in the afternoon (around 3pm) and our room still wasn’t cleaned so we had to chill in the lobby until the staff was done. But maybe we were one of the last rooms to get serviced. I would consider coming back in the future.

Visited this place a couple months ago, besides the fact the pool wasn’t open yet I loved this hotel. If you are visiting the OBX area I don’t think it gets any better.

We booked this at the last minute when we decided to turn our short Outer banks trip in to an overnight adventure. We live so close, we usually just make it a day trip. We got a good deal on a room and we were super pleased when we got there and it was an ocean view room with a balcony. The staff was helpful and friendly. Water and cookies upon check-​in. The lobby area was large with lots of seating. There was a small restaurant and bar in the lobby. Our room was spacious and clean. The room is a little dated and worn, but overall decent. The best part of it was the view and the balcony. We sat out there and enjoyed the ocean air and sunset. They have a nice outdoor patio/​bar area with a tiki bar outside. There is an outdoor pool and an indoor pool with a hot tub. My kids really enjoyed the pools because the ocean water was still a bit cold in May. We always enjoy Hilton hotels and we would return to this one.

I left another review, but after a few days to think about it my opinion has changed a bit. They are clean and friendly. They aren’t perfect but they tried, I think. The hotel itself is nice but could use an update. There were a couple of issues that shouldn’t happen at a Hilton but overall, the place is pretty good for nags head. I doubt I’ll come back because of the nature of the issue but they are ok and the people seemed nice.

My wife and I spent three nights at this hotel. We had an ocean front king room. The room was nice and the staff were absolutely great.
The only thing that was less than perfect was some general maintenance in our room. For example, the handle to close the curtains on the window fell off every time you would open or close them. The handle on the toilet felt like it was about to break off every time you flushed it. No fan in the bathroom (I think it’s supposed to turn on when the light is on but ours wasn’t functioning).

Best hotel on island!!! Friendly staff. I met one of the owners, he was an awesome guy!!! But the best of best is Donnie (bartender) feel like your in cheers
I normally stay in Marriotts but there is no difference in this hotel!

We got the breakfast package with an ocean-​front view. It was perfect! The breakfast service was wonderful and our waitresses were friendly and courteous. I must say that the fresh breakfast options really made this a five star experience for us. It wasn’t just a breakfast bar — you could order your own omelette and other delicious items. The pool was a little small, but we didn’t use it much. Overall, a great place to stay especially if you want to explore the Outer Banks at large. Location, location!

Very clean hotel. Beautiful views if the Atlantic Ocean. Our room was very nice and bed was amazing. Hotel staff was very nice and the front desk girl even gave us a discount in our room which paid for our dinner. Will be back.

We checked in after a horrible stay at the Quality Inn down the street and it was like night and day. They upgraded us for free to a king room with an ocean front room. Amazing view, jacuzzi in the room, comfy bed. We loved it for the 1 night we were there! The breakfast and dinner were really good and not badly priced like a lot of other hotels. We were glad this hotel exceeded out expectations after what we went through at the Quality Inn. Next time we are down and need to stay in a hotel we will definitely be staying here!

Very pleased with our two night stay at the Hilton Garden Inn. Its a convenient location. Hotel was very clean. Amenities were great: indoor pool, a hotel restaurant for breakfast and one of the better hotel fitness areas I’ve seen.
The thing I liked best was the size of our room. It was a double queen room, nothing special in what we ordered. But the room was probably double the size of other hotels we’ve stayed in. Really appreciated that.

Check in was at 3pm and our room was not ready. Already, it was a bad start. When the clerk said he called and could not leave a message because the voicemail was not set up?! I hate being lied to. The lobby was really nice and welcoming.
The room was cool … right on the ocean. Had a big flat screen tv and a keurig with coffee pods and creamer in the room.
The one really huge turnoff was the soap dish in the bathroom was dirty and had 2 hairs on it. I complained to the front desk. They gave me free breakfast buffet for 2 and sent someone to ‘re-​clean’ the whole bathroom.
This place would have been 5 stars if not for a dirty soap dish.
I would suggest to stay here.
They have a cool little indoor pool and fire pit outback.
I was able to sit around the firepit and drink a couple beers.
