The Lodge At Running Y Ranch Resort

I stayed at the lodge during a «boys night out» golf outing with a bunch of friends from California and elsewhere. We hired the hotel for a banquet as well as stayed in their rooms overlooking the golf course.
We spent a lot of time in the bar/​restaurant. For my budget the place is a little spendy but the food and service are very good. I ate elk steak for the first time in my life and it was just terrific. The breakfast menu is interesting but the standard «two over easy and bacon» was, at 14 bucks, bothersome. But… well…it’s a resort, so don’t expect Denny’s, I suppose. The wait staff were just great: engaging, friendly and very attentive.
My room was first class: clean, comfortable, and a bed which was really a pleasure to sleep on. The bathroom was similarly clean and functional, with a generous shower.
The golf course is spectacular.
I suspect there have been some ownership changes over the years. Running a top notch resort near a city like K-​falls must be challenging as the Klamath area is not exactly a destination for high end tourists, despite some of the most beautiful scenery in Oregon. Crater Lake is not far away by car.
There were signs that their business is slow. I noted that there weren’t a lot of guests during the week but the place definitely livened up on the weekend. So if you haven’t tried the Running Y you will feel you’ve discovered a «sleeper» of a place to enjoy… especially if you play golf and like to hike. Be sure to bring lots of money!
For a little break, try a little Italian restaurant in town eponymously called «Italiana.»

My husband took me here for Mother’s Day. We stayed in a two-​bedroom townhouse that was pet friendly. It’s a beautiful location to get away especially if you’re outdoorsy and want to bring your pet. We will definitely be coming again!

This place is perfectly acceptable for a nice getaway weekend with the partner or family.
There’s a golf course for those inclined and plenty of other great things to keep the rest entertained. It is a secluded spot out off the west side of the lake so know if you need anything from town it’s 15 minutes away.
The units vary from new to older so you can find about any price range you like. We arranged through Airbnb which utilizes a network of privately time shared units and ended up in two very nice 1990’s style 2 bedroom suites with updates. Very cozy, a murphy bed in both units if you needed to sleep 6 instead of 4. Our first unit had no view but our second was stellar. So if you know that’s important ask before booking and see what’s available. This place books up welllllll in advance.
All around nicely laid out retreat community and great winter access to Crater Lake.

Best place to stay in Klamath Falls. Clean, comfortable rooms, and a nice bar and restaurant.

My husband and I recently moved down from Portland (a food mecca) to Klamath Falls. While we LOVE living in Klamath, and I do mean capital L-​O-​V-​E!, we miss the quality dining options of PDX.
I can count on one hand the number of really good restaurants, and Running Y is #1. We probably head over twice a month for happy hour, which I think would rival any happy hour in Portland. The food is amazing, and the prices (at happy hour) can’t be beat!
The staff is always super friendly, and I am happy to hear from a manager that they are working towards becoming Blue Zone certified. All around, I highly recommend this place if you live in town and want a quality meal, or if you are passing through, they have tons of activities to take advantage of during your stay.

Where do I even begin? This resort is amazing. From the doors that open as you walk in to the friendly smiles from all the staff I could not rave enough about this hidden treasure. The views are to die for. Our room was super clean, the beds were extremely comfortable and the pillows really made my night of sleep very dreamy. I love the outdoor glass fire pit. The gym was amazing. The pool and the hot tub was perfect. They have a full spa. There is so many things I could go on and on and on about point is I was very pleased. Next time I am going on the free bird excursions and the ice skating ring. Very Happy. Make sure you stop in at cleos wine bar for breakfast burritos at 4.50 a pop… the hotel has a restraunt charges about $ 14 for the breakfast burrito probably larger but also worth it. Pet friendly and when I say that I mean everyone was so nice to the pup and super nice. I WILL BE BACK THIS IS FOR SURE… IF YOU ARE MIL… MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR DISCOUNT

We stayed at the Running Y Ranch over New Years Eve weekend to visit Crater Lake and we had an excellent time. The service was great, the rooms were good, and the prices were reasonable considering they have a lot more amenities than the other hotels in the area. The Running Y has a restaurant (Ruddy Duck), a big pool, jacuzzi, steamroom, gym, spa, and neighboring golf course (closed in the winter) to name a few of their amenities. This hotel is about 10 mins away from downtown Klamath but there’s not much going on there so I’d recommend skipping it unless you need gas. Also, Crater lake is still a good 1.5 hours north of the Running Y so that’s another thing to consider. Tip: We didn’t see any gas stations north of the Running Y so make sure you fill up before you go to Crater Lake.
Overall, I thought the Running Y was the best bang for your buck. Since we visited in the winter time we knew we would spend a good amount of time in the hotel so the fact that it was more expensive than the other hotels wasn’t a factor. If we were using the hotel strictly as a place to sleep at night then maybe we would choose a cheaper place. However, now that we’ve stayed here we would probably stay here again. Enjoy!

Klamath Falls… such beautiful countryside, and yet the town leaves *so much* to be desired. The Running Y is a pleasant respite from the dullness of the town and is, for the area, unique in its tasteful, upscale décor, generally good service, and immaculate grounds and scenery.
We stay here several times a year when we visit family in the area, and always have a great time. The suites are massive and well-​appointed. We love walking the grounds in the mornings and swimming in the rec center. The playground is steps away from the lodge and is a hit with our toddler.
If you’re passing through Klamath Falls, this is the place to stay.

«Resort» is Holiday Inn’s excuse to overcharge at this place. True, there is access to a fitness center, a spa and a golf course on the property. But the rooms are the same as at Holiday Inn Express. You get a frig and Keurig in your room but there’s only ONE microwave per floor. The breakfast buffet fare is actually less varied than the FREE ONE at HIE but you have to pay $ 12 plus $ 3 for coffee here! Dinner at the Ruddy Duck Restaurant does overlook the golf course but is only so-​so, pricey ($ 2 for bread??), and our server was cranky. But there’s not much else available within miles. The elegant driveway and lobby are overshadowed by LOUD 80’s soft rock at all hours. ??? I don’t know how the lovely front desk clerks keep their sanity. Maybe the beautiful scenery makes it all worthwhile. P. S. Don’t forget your bug repellent.

I came pretty late at night and left the next morning, so I wasn’t able to experience the resort completely. The room was spacious and the furniture was modern and looked recently remodeled. The pillows were super fluffy and the bed was the perfect firmness. Counter space was a little lacking next to the sink in that the sink itself was a bowl that took up most of the space. It was nice that they had an elevated ledge to put your luggage. I’m giving them 3.5 stars in that the quality of the room itself was great. However, when I first entered the bathroom, I noticed a few pieces of hair in the corner on the marble floor. I have a huge pet peeve for hair, so it was an unpleasant sight. However, I do understand that the people who clean the rooms work very hard and it’s easy to miss a couple hairs in the corner of the floor.

Enjoyed my stay at this Klamath Falls hotel. It is also part of the Holiday Inn Hotel and Resorts so I was also able to earn IHG Rewards Points for my stay at this Klamath Falls hotel.
The hotel was clean and had everything I needed while doing business in Klamath Falls. The Ruddy Duck restaurant also had a nice selection of local brews and delicious menu items.
Staff were friendly and accommodating during my stay at this hotel.
I would recommend this hotel if visiting the Klamath Falls area.

To be upfront about it: the pics on the IHG website don’t do the resort much justice.
It is by far nicer than shown in the gallery. For better impression I rather would check the hotel’s direct website!

+ driveway is lined by ponds and lawns, makes you relax and unwind immediately
+ lobby and staff were welcoming
+ fellow guests were friendly and more pleasant than in other resorts, e.g. Marriott.
The drive up to Crater Lake took about 1.5hrs along HWY 140 but might be less if you do not end up in any roadwork. Taking Lakeshore Drive and HWY 97 is as scenic as HWY 140 and even faster.
Rooms:
I had the opportunity to check different rooms (there was a mix up during check-​in) and can say that no matter which room type you are booking all rooms are spacious and clean, but some furniture need a touch-​up (desks, tables).
We were finally given a room that overlooked the golf course and I highly recommend spending the extra money for the view if you go with a top floor room since the scenery is beautiful!

On-​site restaurant:
The on-​site restaurant (Ruddy Duck) serves an ok fare for a hotel restaurant, if you are very picky regarding your food you might want to stick with the burger.
One night I had the trout, which was a tiny bit too dry, the other night the burger and it was awesome.
The restaurant also has a happy hour from 4:30−6pm with a special food menu and $ 1 off on beer, wine and cordials. Furthermore kids under 12 eat free if accompanied by a parent for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
There is another restaurant on the premises that specializes on Seafood and Mexican fare.

Staff:
During check-​in we were downgraded to a standard queen room. I recommend to double check on your room type during arrival since it took us 2 room changes until we finally ended up in the room we originally booked!
Plus, check your final bill since we almost ended up paying twice for the room. The receptionist entered incorrect information when she was assigning us our final room!
Despite the hassle with the room, the receptionists were forthcoming and friendly same was housekeeping.
The restaurant staff was nice too, but it some waiters/​waitresses were faster than others. But I guess this happens everywhere.

Wow!
We booked a Holiday Inn on Expedia as we were returning from California from a golf trip. We were expecting the usual HI experience, which would have been good. Rather, we found ourselves at the lodge. It was terrific. We had dinner at the lodge which was quite good, and reasonably priced. As we had our clubs, we played the Arnold Palmer course the next morning and then had lunch at the lodge. Again, the food was good and reasonable.
The golf course is highly rated and well worth trying.
The room was new, clean, and even had HBO.
I had no idea this place existed, but I would definitely go back.

Three Thumbs Up — keep going back
Amazing staff and service in lodge and Ruddy Duck restaurant. Room is lovely. Dining patio is one of my favorite places to dine in all of Oregon. Delicious food, good wine list, and did I say the staff are amazing and helpful and kind and accommodating and great?

The property, the lodge and the rooms are excellent. It is a very nice place inside and out. That accounts for both stars I gave it.
All the thing I read about doing there were not available. Horseback riding is gone. The 2^nd restaurant and coffee shop are out of business. Nearest place to grab a bite other than the over priced hotel restaurant was 7 miles away. The shuttle to the train station is no longer being offered either, which that cost me another day car rental.
Basically you can go to the spa, take a walk, play golf, or watch TV. I’m only guessing at the golf since I didn’t actually see anyone playing, but the gold course was nice. There was ice skating too, but that was extra.
Our train left at 10 pm the next day so I asked if we could stay a half day and was told that we could long as I let the front desk know by 11 am. When I went to the desk and told them we would be staying later they said that we couldn’t stay and would have to be out by check out time. I had to scramble to find a no-​tell motel to stay at until the train came. Even then we had to drive around aimlessly for a few hours until the motel room was ready.

I love this place. Friendly, respectful staff. Great service. Accommodating for your pets. They even have a couple of tables where you can sit with your dogs and have dinner. Located in a beautiful area not far from the highway. Rooms are not priced any higher than other hotels in the area and you can use your rewards for Less

We stopped here on our way from Lake Tahoe to Portland and reserved a King Premier Suite.
They lay out of the rooms in our suite, including the bathroom, are comically poor; such a ridiculously bad use of space. The proportions are all incorrect … and the furniture selection and placement in the living room is terrible (had to move the coffee table to the end of the couch and move a lamp from across the room to get light).
The bed is extremely soft and pillows have very little fill in them. The bedding is thin and somewhat coarse.
While our room appears clean on the surface, there’s a faint musty/​sewer-​like smell that I noticed upon entering the lodge building from the south entrance, in the large elevator near that entrance, and in our room too. I did not notice the smell in the restaurant (see my separate 1 star review for the Ruddy Duck).
Next time, we’ll go back on i-​5 and stay in one the riverfront cabins at The Weasku Inn (Rogue River near Grants Pass) (where we typically stay). Much nicer and typically less expensive.

Holy Bugface Batman!
That’s what you get running outside on their extensive trail system. There is a reason why the Klamath Lake area is world renowned for their birds. Try to keep your mouth closed.
Despite the bugs, this was probably our nicest stay of our vacation week. The Woodland Villa cabin down in Klamath, CA (ironically) was my absolute favorite. But this was definitely the fanciest place we stayed at.
Since we stayed on a Sunday night my husband was able to get a really good price for the room. I can’t believe how nice the resort was for the price. Beautiful indoor pool area with a very large pool, kiddie pool, and hot tub. Very nice fitness room with all the equipment you could need (both weight and cardio). Miles of running trails that went around lakes and up into hills. Playground. Tennis courts. Sand Volley ball. Golf. Etc. Etc. Spa facilities (of course). The lodge itself was very nicely decorated. The service was excellent.
Only downside is that it is a ways outside of town (which could be viewed as a plus by some) so eating out can be an issue (our room came with a mini fridge but no cooking facilities). Restaurant is overpriced and breakfast is not included. We chose to drive the 15 minutes into town to find something to eat. Unfortunately, Klamath Falls has a decided lack of quality places to eat.
Kids would have loved to stay here our entire vacation week. The pool was that awesome.

Breakfast buffet was good; eggs, bacon, granola, muffins, your typical stuff no variety really.
The beds and room were good.
Downers:
–the wifi. It doesn’t work if too many people are in it and for a resort I consider this a fail.
–Friday and Saturday night the bar wasn’t even open passed 11pm so no in house entertainment on the weekend.
–We ended up avoiding dinner here because the reviews of ruddy duck weren’t great.15 min drive into town to find another place to eat.

After driving for 12+ hours, we got to the hotel just before midnight. The hotel does not have valet parking but the self parking is easy and free! Andrea cheeked us in. She was so nice and courteous it made us feel at home.
We got a room on the second floor with view to the parking. The room was comfortable and what you can expect from a 3* Holiday Inn. It had a mini fridge for no additional charge. The only problem I had with the room was the tv. Once you press the channel up or down on the remote, you needed to wait for like 20 seconds for it to change and the numbers did not work. I could deal with it, so decided to watch Hulu on my iPad with the free Wifi. The next morning I tried using the wifi again and couldn’t because too many users were logged in. Yes, bummer.
However, the $ 12 buffet breakfast and amazing view made everything better. Also, we had a ton of dirty clothes and the hotel has a coin laundry room. But we didn’t have coins nor detergent. No problem! We changed $ 10 at the front desk and they sell the detergent! At the end we left very pleased. If it wasn’t because of the wifi and remote this would be a 5* review.

Eigentlich ein sehr schönes Hotel, von welchem aus man Ausflüge in die umliegenden National Parks, z.B. an den Crater Lake unternehmen kann.
Was allerdings absolut indiskutabel ist: unser Raum wurde nicht gesäubert, die Handtücher nicht gewechselt, das Bett nicht gemacht. Wir haben nur eine Nachricht vorgefunden, dass das House Keeping nicht die Betten machen konnte. Warum das nicht??? Das geht in den kleinsten Pensionen am anderen Ende der Welt.
Die Reaktion des Hotelpersonals, darauf aufmerksam gemacht, war überaus arrogant und unfreundlich. Geht gar nicht!!!
