Hers and His Plumbing

Hers and His was chosen as a contractor by 2 – 10 Home Warranty to repair/​replace a leaking water heater. This was on ¹²⁄₂₀. The technician (plumber) came out on December 23. I was not told how the system/​timeline worked. At 3:30PM he decided «yep the water heater is shot, leaking from the bottom. I was informed that he could do nothing that day because they don’t buy from stores that sell cheap equipment and then named Home Depot and Lowes. He stated that all other stores were closed. Nope not at 3:30 on ¹²⁄₂₃. He said he’d get back to me on Friday ¹²⁄₂₆. I called His and Hers and stated I wasn’t happy with the service or the fact that the plumber seemed to be trying to upsell services that are offered by a friend and not by his company. «No» again. Just fix or replace it. In the meanwhile a friend and I got a cap to slow the leak. I was later told by the plumber that he didn’t carry pipe caps in his truck. Seems to me that is like a painter without a brush. I’ve been around plumbers a good deal of my life and have a good idea of what they carry. I set the day aside, thinking he’d have the replacement. NO. He called me and informed me that 2 – 10 insisted on ordering the replacements themselves. He said the replacement would be here on Monday ¹²⁄₂₉. Nope not a call. Finally I called Hers and HIs for an update. «We are going to ask the plumber if it came in and get back to you.» Guess not getting back to me meant that it wasn’t in. On Tuesday 12/​30, I called both Hers and His as well as 2 – 10 warranty and expressed displeasure on the service (or thus far lack thereof) the lack of keeping the customer up to date without prompting, etc. Basically 2 – 10 and His and Hers pointed the finger at each other. 2 – 10 claimed at that time that on Friday they had authorized to get the needed equipment locally. Hers and His said the opposite.
I’d like to be able to say nice things about the work of the plumber himself but can’t at this time. As of today, I called His and Hers to ask where the replacement was. It’s in town, but that plumber isn’t working today. «Is there someone else you can send to get this job finished? I need a receipt of repair before I can even begin to ask for any adjustment on the waste water portion of my utility bill (waste water use is determined by the use of fresh water, a lot of which has drained into the soil and probably back to the Tennessee River without going through the waste water system.
I’d say IF you are covered by 2 – 10 and they assign Hers and HIs as a contractor, call 2 – 10 immediately and state that you want a different contractor. No guarantee the other one (if they even have one on their books to send) will do a better job, but at least It won’t likely be delayed nearly 2 weeks.

Terrible plumbers! Not professional, always arrive super late and are not successful at fixing simple problems.

We were referred to Hers and His Plumbing from a home warranty. Taylor plumbing had plumbed our house as new construction, but their work was so shoddy and they were so hostile every time we called from them to come out we didn’t want them back! So Hers and His Plumbing was sent out. The guy was just GREAT! I followed him around and he did really nice work. Even re-​did some of the glaring bad plumbing done by Taylor just to make me happy. What a contrast! Seemed like a smart fellow, wish I could remember his name but I will stay with these guys from now on!

I was referred to this company via my home warranty policy. I called Hers and His on Tuesday morning, received a prompt phone call back and service was scheduled for Friday morning. The plumber arrived, said he couldn’t use the clean out valve in the cellar because his equipment wouldn’t fit through the door. I was told that an exterior clean out valve was required and that the home warranty would not cover that. The plumber attempted to locate the sewage line out in the backyard and said it was too close to the gas line and that the utility company would need to come out and mark where the gas line was. I was told the call was placed for this to be done and that it was requested on an emergency basis. Line not snaked, plumber left. Three (3) days later no one has called me and I’m not happy because I have raw sewage in my home. I call the gas line company and ask why they haven’t marked the gas line yet? I was told the plumber never called. WHAT? I call Hers and His, explain my great displeasure, am told the plumber was unavailable and he would return my call. No return call. I then contact my home warranty company again and ask for a new plumber. I don’t care to do business with people that make me wait, tell me they’re going to do something and then don’t do it and then don’t return calls to explain why they dropped the ball. The other plumber was at my house within 3 hrs, walked his line snaking machine down the stairs, cleared the line and was done in an hour. Hers and His wanted $ 250 to snake the drain and another $ 225 for an exterior valve, that while would be nice to have, was not necessary for the plumber to snake the line. Seriously. A plumber who can’t snake a drain in a nice, clean, dry, well lit cellar? It totally happened. I cannot recommend this company.
