Trader Joe’s

I love Trader Joe’s! Everyone at this location is friendly and the store is clean. The best deals here are cheeses & charcuterie, nuts/​dried fruits, frozen vegetables & frozen fish. I also like their brand of san marzano tomatoes and the canned black beans. THere’s beautiful produce but more often than not, it goes bad very quickly I have found. Same for the breads. They have really good sweets and candy as well. Must get items are sweet potato tortilla chips, dried coconut chips, green tea mochi, frozen cherries & any of the amazing raw cheddar cheeses!

Great place for school snacks that are appetizing but also healthy. They have these tiny cookies and also pretty close to homemade meatballs (the little one us not a sandwich girl…)

What a joy shopping here! After living in NYC for years where I had a TJ’s nearby, I miss having many of their great quality staples in my pantry and freezer. I always like to hit this location before leaving Knoxville to stock up.
This Trader Joe’s is clean, easy to navigate and cheery. Two separate employees asked me if I needed assistance while I was shopping and the lovely gal at checkout told us all about the yummy things she’d made with some of the items we’d bought — I love that kind of service!
Additionally, this store is conveniently located and super easy to get on/​off of I-​40/​75. 1.5 hours + one insulated bag= a fridge full of yummy food at home
My only complaint is that this place isn’t in Chattanooga!

This grocery store is awesome! They have a wide variety of healthy foods, vegan and gluten free as well! The staff is always wonderful and helpful. I always enjoy my experience when I shop here. It’s not near as expensive as some of the surrounding health food stores too! Wins all around. :)

When TJ’s first opened, there were employees knocking themselves out to assist you if you couldn’t find something. Over the months, these helpful sign toting personnel dwindled down until now. They do not exist any longer. If you can’t find something you can go to the customer service counter and wait to be acknowledged by the busy staff socializing behind the counter with other customers.
I frequent this store since I live close by. Yesterday I needed two items and the shelves were empty. Usually, the cashier inquires if you found everything. Not this time. I mentioned the two items I found out of stock. The cashier responded, «Guess this is just not your lucky day!»
Guess that new car smell has worn off!

I really do like Trader Joes and can’t wait for them to start selling wine! Everyone at this location is pretty friendly, but I have one complaint. One of my favorite things about Trader Joes is the nice selection of flowers. However, I have bought flowers from this location twice now and they have died within two to three days. Last Thursday, 5/​14, I bought some peonies and tulips. The peonies all fell apart when I was arranging them in the vase and the tulips have turned brown and never even opened up. The first time I bought sunflowers and they wilted after two days. I have never had this problem with flowers from other places.

Near perfection, Trader Joe’s of Knoxville is a bit of heaven in what would otherwise be a very mundane city.
Of course, everyone who works there is friendly and helpful, always with a smile on their faces.
My one and only problem and this is true of most every TJ’s throughout the US that I have patronized is their flowers. They just are not up to par. There are better, longer lasting flowers in the supermarkets around here.
I bought 2 pots of lavender. Now, lavender is a specialty of mine, having visited lavender fields all over Europe and having grown it in my yard when I lived in Hoboken Heights, NJ. I know this herb like the back of my hand.
The lavender I bought from TJ Knoxville just kept croaking and croaking, no matter what I did to it. Finally, I just had to throw them out.
They actually died. …
Not hibernated but turned brown all over. within the week I bought them. The instructions were incorrect on them also. Lavender thrives in dry climates, no matter the strain. These 2 just passed away from the moment I got them home.
Other flowers I have bought from them have croaked also way before their time (as cut flowers).
Other than that and the freeze dried broccoli and strawberries, it is all so good. here.
They even have some of the best greeting cards around and for .99!
If it weren’t for the inferior quality of the flowers, I would have given this Trader Joe’s 5 stars.
BTW, I have bought wonderful flowers in S. CA when I lived there from TJ and I fear that they get their flowers all the way from CA. That might be a very (oo) long journey for our fragile beauties.
Their produce is the best around. I wouldn’t buy an avocado from anywhere but here.
And their prices are so reasonable, it’s difficult to buy anything anywhere else in Knoxville.
So, maybe start cultivating flowers in greenhouses around this area so they will be fresh and long lasting.
Their Truffle oil is divine and I had missed out on it when I lived in Hoboken Heights for the past year and swore when it came again, I would stock up. I did with 2 bottles.
The one item I do not see that was really delicious is the low fat ranch dressing. It just disappeared or I had a bottle from the NJ store that I brought back with me to Knoxville.
Since Knoxville did pass the law, they will be able to start selling your favorite wines in about a year. That’s good news for TJ and maybe not the best news for the liquor store across the street.
I don’t plan on even buying much from Whole Foods when they open here. The prices are apples and strawberries.

I cannot recommend it enough. Excellent quality, reasonable prices, and awesome staff. Thank you for coming to Knoxville.

I’m a west coast girl and Trader Joe’s makes me feel right at home! Sure, I wish they served wine, but it’s not their fault. Let’s talk about things I love:
*Prices are always reasonable. They have a great selection of organic products that don’t cost as much as my car. I appreciate that.
*The staff — It’s true what they say. Bird of a flock do stick together. I love the people that work there. They are snarky, fun, and helpful. You can tell that they like their jobs and that makes my experience even better
*I LOVE their pre-​made salads! They are creative and make packing my work lunch so easy.
*Samples. Do I need to say more?!
Now aside from the wine issue that I mentioned, the only downside to this Trader Joe’s is it’s size. It’s pretty small and the only real issue with that is that it’s always packed. It’s not the end of the world, but some days it feels more like a game of frogger than I’d like. Maybe the next Knoxville Trader Joe’s will be bigger… hint, hint! All of that being said, the lines move very quickly and whoever you find running the cash register is always pleasant and has a smile waiting for you!

Loving Trader Joe’s, all of their staff aims to please. They truly understand customer service. we were so happy when a store opened about 4 miles from our home.
I remember one time while shopping there I ask about the thai chile flavored cashews, the worker answered, «I personally have not tried them, so let’s open these up, give them a taste and then we will both know. «How many stores would do that for you? none that I am aware with. Also love their wine selections, good wine at fair prices.
All their prices are fair for the quality and variety of foods they carry.

Highlights:
— No long lines!
— Super friendly staff
— They apparently restock daily (I asked because I empty their firm tofu section when I go)
— Great samples!
— Super crunchy green apples
— Delicious bananas
— Vegan soy ice cream sandwich
— Edamame with or without salt
— Packaged veggies always expires soon. it doesn’t turn bad when it expires but I do wonder why it always expires within a couple days

Being from California, I am a fan of course. I can always count on TJ’s to have the items that I am already accustomed to buying. Yes, this is probably considered as a bias review.
Too bad they do not sell liquor or wine here. Beer, yes. I do miss their special liquor sales and wine tasting area. Hopefully a new legislation will pass and we can all drink and be merry.
This is a good place to get your packaged power greens at a decent price. Especially if you’re not feeding a huge family. Large frozen section, if you’re into that. No deli as usual.
Not sure if this place offers raffle tickets for bringing in your own bags to receive a $ 20 gift card. I’m sure the masses would not oppose of it.

I wish I would’ve know there was a Trader Joe’s in Knoxville sooner. Love the place — great food, great selections, great prices.
But more importantly, at this location — the people are the best. They are so very kind and aren’t sales-​y. They are genuine people, genuinely happy you chose to purchase groceries from their establishment.
I never feel bombarded, yet I’m never ignored.

It seems like a lot I folks in Knoxville aren’t familiar with TJ’s so I figured I’d post a review.
It’s a bummer that our TJ’s doesn’t sell wine, because that’s one of the main advantages of the store, but fingers crossed with the passing of new legislation they’ll be able to open a wine store next year.
In my opinion, you don’t go to TJs for fresh produce, though there are some deals to be had: organic bananas, cheap avocados, etc. you go to TJs for great deals on specialty products and dry goods.
Here are my fav deals: really cheap great Spanish olive oil, great vinegars, wonderful cheese section with some specialties thrown in (their Chianti soaked cheese!), nuts of all kinds for cheap, great organic dairy including Greek yogurt, crackers, jams. Drip less candles, Dr. Bronners, natural dish washing tabs and dishwashing soap, unscented body lotion. Some people love their frozen goods. I don’t really. But they do have mochi ice cream, which is great.
That is all.

I’ve always loved Trader Joe’s in other states but now I’m so excited there is one in Knoxville, TN :) The prices are relatively cheap for the quality food they provide. They have my favorite chicken salad and edamame hummus. This store is particularly clean and the staff is friendly. If you can remember try to bring your own grocery bags.

I went to Trader Joe’s yesterday looking for the Speculoos Cookie & Cocoa Swirl. I had seen it on a local morning show and wanted to try it. I fully expected that it would be pricey. I was so impressed with this store. The prices are so reasonable I couldn’t believe it. The product I came for was 3.99! I bought several frozen dinners and one seafood cioppino stew. The most expensive item was the seafood stew at 5.49. I really like that there are several single serving dinners available. I don’t live in Knoxville but do go usually once a month. I will be visiting Trader Joe’s when I do.

What can I say but I love love love this place! Thank you for coming to Knoxville!

I really don’t get Trader Joe’s. My mom’s exasperation at a chain known to sell good, cheap wine without said wine in Tennessee really says it all. The products in Trader Joe’s are great quality. There are lots of gluten free, organic, and vegan options. What’s disappointing is I don’t care about any of this. So, all I could take away from this place is it’s a small store with no deli, select produce, and lots of freezer selections. But they have pumpkin everything in October. That’s reason enough to go back.

I find myself shopping here more these days. Most of their prices are good, especially on items like their hand soaps for example.
Fortunately for me I can get tahini free hummus there and it’s pretty good. Unfortunately for me, their Korean ribs are $ 10. They’re delicious. I would probably get fat if they were any less but it would be a good fat.

I have heard from people who lived other places that we needed a Trader Joe’s here in Knoxville.
So as soon as I heard we had one I went to it not expecting much.
Happy to say I was wrong. This place had a great selection of specialty foods and products. Unlike their competition they are not expensive.
My only complaint is that they are only in West Knoxville and not closer to my house.
