This past weekend was the inaugural South Maui Triathlon at Wailea. All I have to say is, you can’t beat racing wetsuit free in 84 degree water!
The bike consisted of 2 loops which were a little funny but allowed you to see and chear on teammates throughout the race. The run was out and back along the Kanapali hotel strip which created the same kind of atmosphere.
It was not the most competitive of races with just under 300 competitors and it might not be worth the trip if you are a pro or elite racer, but, it is a fun race and it sure is nice to cross the finish line in paradise.
