I am going to write an honest review. Not bashing because I’m mad (which I am) but giving other people honest feedback from someone mechanically inclined.
I went to Aussie auto AC for my Ac not being cold. I didn’t want to mess with freon and took it in. A $ 20 diagnosis turned into an $ 80 electric diagnosis. That’s fine. The issue reported to me was a bad AC thermostat and my PCM (ECU) needed to be recalibrated (2 hours equaling $ 153). My red flag flags went up when I heard about recalibrating the PCM I have never heard of that. I spoke with them multiple times to make sure I wasn’t hearing wrong, they do have strong accents. The part (ac thermostat) was more expensive than the Honda dealer and same labor time as Honda. I would have only saved about $ 50 by going to Aussie and I would rather have Honda do that repair. However after testing everything and getting other opinions the Ac thermostatic switch did need to be replaced but the ECU was fine. I am not sure if he thought my car was OBD I but either way this was not needed not possible. When he sensed I had knowledge of the system and PCM he never said the same way to fix it. One time if was calibrate, next time was rewire, and so on. The actual estimate didn’t say PCM but A/​C Amplifier. There is no such thing. In the end I got it running with a new thermostat switch in the evaporator.
I will never go back since this blatant lie has taught me not to trust them.

Stay as far as you can from this place.

They are totally incompetent, they keep finding problems that don’t exist just to jack up the bill.
I took my car to have the AC compressor replaced and guess what, they ruin my car, they messed my ignition, my AC and my car windows are not working and here’s the biggest irony, I called them up and they don’t pick up the phone.
I really do not know if this is a standard Vietnamese business practice, but this is AMERICA and they can’t treat customers like that.
I’m filling a law suit against them

Last year went into this place to get my AC repaired. I had to take my car back a week later to have it done all over again. I guess it was a bad compressor that was installed. Recently moved to Alabama and stop by the shop before I left because of a loud noise would go off when I tried to use the AC. I was told not to worry about it because my air conditioning hasn’t been used so it’s supposed to make a loud noise. Well now it doesn’t work at all. Now that it’s hot I’m trying to use it. I called the owner and he expressed no interest in my problem. Knowing that I’m 2000 miles away he can care less about it. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody going off my own experience. I paid almost $ 600. I never had air-​conditioning that worked properly from day one. It was upsetting because I thought I could trust Richard because he is the owner. I wouldn’t even give them one star. Do your homework and shop around before choosing this place.

Just got my car back! The reception was very helpful and told me everything that was going to be done. Service was also really fast! I dropped off my car and the job was done the next day.

The A/​C on our 2005 Odyssey quit, so after asking around and calling a few places, Aussie Auto AC was recommended by a friend of ours. I made an appointment, took the van in, and it was diagnosed within 30 minutes. After installing a new compressor and condenser, and recharging the system, it works as good as new, and it was completed the same day. The cost was reasonable, and actually somewhat less than I was bracing for. Quality A/​C work is not cheap, especially if it’s done right. But the cost at a Honda dealer would have been considerably more, and from my experience, would not have been done the same day. My warranty from Aussie is 12 months or 12,000 miles, which is more than I have received from other shops or dealers. I’d recommend Aussie.

There aren’t many places of business (especially auto repair) now a days, where one can come in, and be greeted in a warm, and friendly manner. Kim is a delight to deal with, and Richard is as well. Very good mechanic, with great people skills. Not to mention, fair prices and honest work.

Bad deal I have a 1997 Toyota Avalon AC with cooling fine I was being picky and thought it could be better so I went to see Aussie conditioning first thing pop the hood and hook up your gauges first thing they tell me that the compress it does not work my response was it was working when I gave you the car they said it was a relay so I had to pay for a relay it was $ 30 and $ 75 in labor ok but to get my car back from them I had to pay $ 256 for them just to hook up your gauges total ripoff I felt that I was being scammed on from the very beginning I am an educated person and I know quite a bit about air conditioning and refrigeration they didn’t follow the procedures to do anything of that nature to prove to me that they service my air conditioning

I have a 100% concourse condition 1972 Pantera that needed a leak detection done on a brand new A/​C system the car designer installed that would not hold Freon. The team at Aussie treated the car as if it was their own with great care, fixed it and now it is blowing COLD air. I would recommend them to anyone with a show car.

I brought my car in for repair and mind you it is an old car, it was a 2000 GMC Savanna. With a broken A/​C compressor, and a filthy system that needed to be cleaned out. Within a couple of hours they replaced my compressor, orifice tube, and timing belt. Richard the manager knows what he is doing and I recommend Aussie A/​C to my family and friends.
All I can say that I love their customer service, reasonable price (not an arm and leg), and quality workmanship! My car was fixed in a jiffy and is now blasting cold air.

Brought 3 different cars here with A/​C problems, they helped us right away no waiting on a very hot day, workers were very nice and friendly. Price was reasonable… would highly recommend bringing ur car here if u have A/​C issues.

I had a very good experience with Aussie Auto Air. I drive a 2007 Honda Accord and the air started blowing hot on the driver side but still cool on the passenger side. I’m not a mechanic but worried I’d be taken advantage of and cautioned them from the start that I’d drive it as is versus spending a lot of money to fix it. My anticipated fear wasn’t even close to what I experienced. They ran diagnostics, added freone and I am content with the price paid. Cool blows out of both sides now. They were extremely courteous to me. I guess I don’t mind people talking to me. I’d go back to them without hesitation.

I went in not knowing the issue to my AC system. Basically, the AC was not blowing cold air. I initially paid $ 45 for an AC inspection which was applicable to the cost of the service if I choose to get it done. The issue ended up being a bad compressor that needs to be replaced. The total estimate to replace the compressor and recharge was $ 700 (after market parts) (2007 Jetta). Their diagnostic was good but I decided to shop around and was able to find a better deal for $ 200 less.

I highly recommend this shop. We found out about it from Strege Automotive in LaHabra (Strege is great as well). I brought my 1995 Isuzu Rodeo to have the AC checked as it wasnt blowing cold air. The problem was diagnoised as a bad compressor. They took the time to show me the leaks and did not try to upsell me anything. The problem was repaired in just 4 hours. They did an awesome job at a fair price!

I was blown away. I took my car in after work, and it was ready to be picked up a couple of hours later. Kim told me that I should expect it to be ready by noon the next day, which I was already happy with, but she called the same evening and said I could pick it up.
I believe that this is a family-​owned business, and they are very warm and friendly. They also take their customer’s needs into consideration. They know their business and they get it done at a reasonable price.
I had the same work done last year. I took the car to my regular mechanic. He sent it out to some a/​c shop. They diddled around for over a week. I got it back — still didn’t work. He sent it back to the shop, and it worked, but the fix lasted less than a year. Aussie’s knew what the problem was from the start and just fixed it.
If I ever have another a/​c problem with another car or know of someone who does, they will be the shop I recommend.

P. S. BTW I always check Unilocal when I need something done, and even though there weren’t a lot of reviews on this business (Keith B and 2 or 3 others, they were all good, and I am with them on this shop! =D

We are fleeing our home state and moving to either Arizona or Texas. We will need to call on our 1999 Chevy C-​3500 1-​ton pickup that has been «mothballed» and on «non-​operational» status with the DMV for 3 years. That BEAST can carry belongings in its 8-​foot bed and can pull any size trailer you can hook to it. Unfortunately, the A/​C will not hold a charge for more than a day or two and both AZ and TX are HOT… A/​C is like power windows, a TV remote, or a garage door opener — you cannot go back. I need my A/​C!
Prior to me visiting Aussie Auto Air Conditioning, I had taken the BEAST to the owner of a La Habra general auto repair shop. This master mechanic pegged the A/​C problem to a «suspected leak» in the evaporator coil that is buried in the dashboard. His recommendation to keep the costs down was for me to invest my time to dismantle the dashboard to expose the evaporator coil and that would make the repair more affordable. As much as I am capable of doing that and I DO WANT to limit the money invested in a 14-​year old truck that might sell in 2014 for no more than $ 4,000, I don’t really have time to do that. I figured I’d try another shop. I called another trusted mechanic and shared the 1^st diagnosis over the phone (it might be the evaporator in the dash). He suggested that because of the 1^st diagnosis, he will take the truck to his A/​C specialist and there will be a $ 95 inspection fee. While I like the one-​stop convenience of taking the BEAST to shop #2 for the second opinion, it seemed logical to me that I might as well find my own A/​C specialist to deal with first hand, and to keep my cost down with this older vehicle.
I searched Unilocal,but virtually every Auto Air Conditioning ONLY business (that was not a GENERAL auto repair offering A/​C services) seems to have no reviews! That seemed weird, but it may be that Auto A/​C ONLY is a small and specialized niche market of auto repair so with little or no reviews I went forward. When I looked at the pictures posted of Aussie Auto Air Conditioning’s shop, they added immediate credibility and made me feel confident that I had found a very organized operation that was exactly what I was looking for: Auto A/​C-​only experts. Their shop is large, clean, organized, and seemed to be really well-​STOCKED. That tells me that this A/​C shop is a serious, organized business and ready to fix whatever comes through their doors without having to call out for parts delivery for every customer.
I called them. I shared the same diagnosis (the evaporator coil) and they suggested I simply come in for a $ 20 inspection. $ 20 bucks! That’s a seventy-​five dollar savings over my prior option and if I don’t want to do business there, that’s a no-​sweat, no-​regret, affordable fee. Just paying $ 20 for a 2^nd diagnosis –a second opinion– seemed more than okay. Moreover, the $ 20 is applied to your invoice should you decide to have them do the repairs. For me? I consider a $ 20 inspection fee a good deal. Fair for a shop owner who has expenses to cover and super fair for me as an auto owner. Sure, some big outfits –like a Chevy Dealer– will do a diagnosis for free, but I can virtually guarantee that (1) you will have to drop the vehicle there at 7:30 am and no waiting for it — likely about 5 pm you’ll be able to come for it, and (2) their estimate will always be north of $ 1,000 for any A/​C repair. Been driving 40 years. Been there — done that — DONE with that…
I drove over. Office is nice and orderly. True to the pictures, the shop was clean, orderly and WELL STOCKED. I left the truck and walked over to Subway for a sandwich. When I returned, the diagnosis was complete and 180-​degrees different than my mechanic buddy in that the owner, Richard, said the AcDelco GM A/​C compressor body was leaking. No evidence that there is an evaporator leak. Considering this truck is a BEAST with a 454 7.4L V8 with 103,000 miles on it, who would expect a compressor in that hot engine-​compartment environment not to fail after 100K miles and 14 years? The estimate to replace the compressor with a legitimate factory brand compressor with clutch (not a re-​manufactured unit) and the other parts/​processes that must be done (a new accumulator/​Receiver Drier, a new Orifice Tube, and flushing and vacuum draw-​down of the system to make sure it is clean and free of moisture) — all of this was priced far south of what a dealer would charge.
Within 3 hours the job was done, and I was driving away with the BEAST blowing cold air. Next week we are driving the BEAST with the Cold A/​C to Arizona where it will be 106 — 113 degrees this month and Aussie Auto Air Conditioning made the trip doable.
UPSHOT? — The office staff is super friendly, and Richard is a real treasure: articulate and friendly. A dedicated A/​C and auto heating specialist with affordable pricing and a year’s guarantee for the repairs. I highly recommend this dedicated shop. If you’re all hot and bothered, stop in for a cool down.

My car is over 16 years old and my a/​c broke about 2 years ago. The place I take my car to get fixed said it would cost over $ 1,000 to fix the a/​c and other places. So since my car is old, I really did not want to be spending that much money on something that is not going to be around in the next 5 years. Anyways, I was driving on Imperial Hwy and just out of the corner of my eye, I saw the sign for this place and I decided, what the heck, I will give it a shot. To my amazement, it cost half of what the other places told me it would. Not only that but I picked it up the same day! Please, don’t go raising prices because of this post, I will take my cars here in the future and I will also recommend it to everyone. Thanks for the coolness!
