Not very good food or service. The food is okay in a pinch but the service is bad. Cashiers act very annoyed.

Yes, it’s not the best Thai food out there but it’s still pretty decent for the price and the location. There are hidden gems in the menu and you have to choose the right one. My go to dishes here are the BBQ pork noodles, Siamese dried noodles, BBQ pork sandwich, hot Thai basil with tofu, fried rice with tofu, green salad with chicken with a sesame dressing drunken noodles with tofu and the egg rolls. This time around I ordered the chow mein with chicken. It was pretty good. Lots of flavor and a lot of vegetables and chicken. Next time I order this, I’ll ask if they can do tofu. Anyhow, no complains about this dish. I also ordered the egg rolls and shared with my sister. There’s four to an order and I feel that they’ve made them bigger this time around. I don’t know what kind of dipping sauce they have with it but it’s super good with the egg rolls. The portions are also pretty large so expect to have some leftovers. Overall, it’s a decent place on campus to eat at and there are a lot of options for everyone.

The food here isn’t that great EXCEPT for the pad see ew… the pad see ew is actually pretty bomb and it’s comparable to the pad see ew from speciality Thai restaurants on convoy! The serving is also really big so you’ll definitely leave satisfied with your meal. Other things, such as the bbq pork or chicken salad, aren’t really good at all and it’s really bland

This is my favorite place to eat at UCSD campus. The food is delicious with a good variety. It is fast and inexpensive compared to the rest of the campus eateries. The portions are generous. The student cashier are super nice and friendly. They ask how you are doing and always have a smile. Lucky and his staff work really hard and I very much appreciate them. The place is clean, well stocked and lively. Prices are decent. BBQ pork noodles are the best BBQ pork sandwich is delicious I’m also a fan of the following fresh fruit, fried rice with chicken, yellow, red and green curry(which can be spicy), Phở beef, short ribs, chicken salad, hot Thai basil, mango sticky rice, etc. What I love is their strong and tasty Thai tea. I Really do HEARTHITHAI.

Yeah… no. Even after adding Sriracha, teriyaki, and soy sauce, I couldn’t mask the flavor of the chicken. There was definitely something wrong with it.

I’m not sure why people are so negative considering food on campus is terrible. Hi Thai is pretty decent for the money. Just avoid the noodles(like I would at any fast food). Green curry over rice is pretty good, and they changed their salad dressing recently. It’s so much better.

I have been here one or twice and never came back. In a vegetarian and asked if they could make pad thai without fish sauce. Many thai restaurants I’ve been to have been accommodating and agree to this. However the employee rudely said no as if that was the silliest thing he’s ever heard. I also assumed the employee was the manager or a seasoned employee at least because he was older and not a student.

When it comes to Asian fast food, my expectations really aren’t that high. I expect it to be oily and salty; it’s a cheat meal and it hits the spot. However, I recently got pad see ew here and it was so salty it was almost beyond edible. It tasted like soy sauce and oil. I’ve had the green curry with rice noodles before and the flavor was not too bad. Also it seems like with a lot of the rice noodle dishes here, the noodles have serious clumping problems. The menu has a lot of variety though, so maybe the rice dishes or banh mi may be better? I have yet to try them. They also have a variety of drinks, curry, and soup noodles.

Hm. Okay. Okay in the most okay way. Not much from here will dazzle you. You would not spend your bottom dollar here. But hey, I appreciate their presence on UCSD’s campus. Everything goes through the motions of being what it is. The phở has all the elements it should, but lacks the satisfying flavor or the seemingly soul-nourishing benefits phở usually has. The pork sandwich was lack luster and a little drying to the palate but I’m a simple girl. I’ll live. Honestly, this place gives you what you want, but won’t leave you wanting more(more of the food, that is). Great for a quick Thai fix, but not in a million thousand billion google years would I go out of my way to visit campus just for this eatery.

The quantity of food that Hi Thai serves is higher than the other places on campus, especially those in price center. It’s tastier than shogun and panda. I would recommend their veggie fried rice.

The food here honestly isn’t that great. I’ve been here on multiple occasions and today it was very unsatisfying. I ordered the chicken thai fried rice. Pretty simple right, what could go wrong? The rice was watery… It was stuck together and tasted really bad. I’ve also had their pad thai, pad see ew, and other entrees before. On average, they are a 2 out of 5. I would only come here when I am really craving thai food and don’t have time to leave campus. But after I do, I instantly regret it because their food is sub par.

Really want to like this place. First time I ordered a barbecue beef sandwich, bread tasted fresh, meat tender /thinly sliced, fixings were on point. Been craving it since… Went back today back to satisfy my cravings. Complete 180. Bread tasted stale, meat was thick and chewy. Fixings were the only thing that I could call decent. Don’t go there today for a BBQ beef sandwich anyway. Maybe noodles are better today?

I’ve avoided this place for two years since going to UCSD because I’ve heard the food was terrible. However, after finally trying it, the food is surprisingly not that bad. I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken as well as a Thai Tea. The Pad Thai was wet(I prefer mine drier), tasted okay(had the slight tangy, savory taste of a typical pad Thai), and came with a salad that was a little bitter. However, the portion was definitely large, and it was a great value for the price. The Thai Tea tasted like they poured a ton of sugar into it, but it wasn’t bad. I’d come back again for a quick, good value meal.

This place is the most decent asian food that you can get in campus. Sure it doesnt have everything and no it doesnt taste like home but honestly this is the second best thing. But they do have their off days when their noodles are too soggy or they oversauce but I definitely recommend this place for ucsd students who crave asian food.

To be honest, when my friends started telling me about Hi Thai my freshmen year and how«bad» it was, I told myself I would never come here. Sophomore year rolled around and Dining Hall food just wasn’t cutting it. I came here for a date(what nerves he had) and actually really enjoyed it! I’ve been here about 10 times(oops) since then, and there isn’t anything that I don’t enjoy/dislike so much to give it a 2 stars! I’ve tried: –Panang Beef Curry: big chunks of beef and carrots! One fried wonton dumpling and salad as the side. –Drunken Noodles with chicken: A little oily, but good amount of chicken! –Pad Thai with chicken: Standard noodles. Not sure what people can complain about! If anything, just a little bland. –Thai fried rice with chicken: Not too oily, and good amount of chicken! Definitely filling! –thai fried rice with BBQ –Pork ribs over rice: Get ready to use your hands, because the meat is not going to come off if you don’t do some chewing like a barbarian! But it’s delicious! Good amount of salad and rice. –Green Curry with chicken: My favorite ever. Not sure why, but I love curry! And this was not too spicy for me. –Phở with beef(yes, the broth!) //Kind of a mistake. The design of the container is too tall, so you would have to drink the broth first before eating anything because your chopsticks are not long enough. But at least the broth was hot! Pros: –Nice environment. The space is big! A lot of people come here to study. Business is very consistent but never packed, so you can always find a seat. –Good portion! Meat: carbs ratio is great! Each bite of rice you can get a good amount of everything! –Quick service! They call your number quick, so be attentive! Cons: –Service is meh. They don’t really converse with you, but at least they are not rude to you! –Sometimes it’s a bit too salty? But nonetheless… SODIUMCOMEATME. Try eating dining hall salads and soups for a whole quarter! Tips/Observations: –You can actually order meat on the side! Aka: MOREMEAT! I paid about $ 3.50 for just a small box of chicken because the panang beef wasn’t enough for me. –There are a good variety of drinks on the menu! Try it out! –There are fruit boxes on the side. It’s kind of expensive(around $ 4.75) for a small box of either just mangoes or watermelon. –They serve asian style breakfast!(YES.) 9AM-11AM(or 11:30AM?) Porridge/congee…just my jam! Overall, I don’t mind coming here at all. It’s funny because my dad is from Thailand, and he might totally disagree with me… but for my Chinese food palette, it suites.

Thai food is in my top 3 for favorite food genre, so when I found out there was Thai food on campus, I was pretty excited. I was also skeptical because food on campus can be hit or miss. When I got here, it was around lunchtime. It managed to go 0 – 100 real quick with how busy it got! That’s understandable though because it’s a peak time and after students get out of their 12:20PM class(well, that was when I got out of class…) The two girls working were too caught up in their own conversation rather than paying attention to the customers. I mean, I don’t need you to baby me as I order my food, but customer service is always nice. At least they were smiling. I ordered chicken pad Thai(with no bean sprout) and a Thai iced tea with boba. Despite the restaurant being packed, I got my food within 5 – 10 minutes. I was right to be skeptical because I wasn’t even disappointed when discovered that my meal wasn’t that appetizing. I figured asking for the spice level would be standard, but Hi Thai has just one spice level – which is not spicy. The chicken seemed undercooked and chewy at some points, and although the noodles were filled with sauce, it wasn’t flavorful at all. I didn’t like the type of sauce they used also. The Thai tea was so sweet to the point where I felt like they relied on it to make it taste like Thai tea. I even felt like the boba was old because it was super mushy and soggy. With some alterations, I think their food could be better! There are definitely positives about this place. It’s actually huge! Apparently, students come here to study and there are even quite a few outlets. I underestimated the size of place. Not to mention, everything on the menu is pretty cheap. Thai food entrees are typically around $ 8 – 10 or so, and pad Thai can be an expensive dish. At this place, it’s $ 6.85! In addition, their portions are huge. I’m sure leftovers is a high possibility. I see two sides of the spectrum when it comes to this place. If I ever have a craving for Thai food and am on campus, I’d possibly settle for this place.

This is my go to place on campus to eat. It is convenient and fairly cheap and give lots of food(I can usually make 2 meals out of their pad see ew). At lunch time this place can have a really long line so i try to go at off hours around 1pm. On special days I also get the mango boba. It is pretty surgary but the boba is good and again it is fairly cheap. As for other dishes I have had there, I got the panang beef sandwich and was not at all impressed by it. It was dry and small and not worth the money. Super disappointed. So if there was one thing to get here it would be the pad see ew.

Really? No smile nor a simple hello greeted me. Ordered Vietnamese coffee and only a little over half-filled. The food comes in large portions, enough for two meals, but with the oiliness of the food, do you really want to eat two servings?

Worst Thai food I have EVER had! It was not worth my money at all. The noodles that I ordered were WAYTOO mushy. I felt like I was eating baby food! Also, the way they season their food wasn’t good either. I would rather have gone to Panda Express even though I hate that place.

First off, I appreciate how every cashier here has taken the time to initiate a friendly conversation and ask me how my day went and what classes I’m taking etc. it’s a really nice vibe especially when I’m rushing in between classes.(well, the student cashiers at least) There is a lot of space here, including couches and rows of tables. A lot of people study here and it’s quieter than studying in PC if studying at food places is your thing. The food is OK, the pad see ew comes with a generous amount of noodle and the pad thai is just okay. Pad Thai is mediocre, does not cure my pad Thai fix. :( I also tried to egg noodles which are yummy. the BBQ pork isn’t the kind of quality you get at Sam Woo but it’s still good. I didn’t like how oily my egg noodles are… made me feel like i was going to break out! They were served on a bed of veggies but after i closed the box and stored it in my purse, the oil dripped EVERYWHERE… And unfortunately this always happens! hopefully it was just water from the veggies??? But its ok, I’ll probably get this dish again because for the 6.75(or something), it’s worth the price for what you get. I’m a girl who eats small portions and snacks throughout the day, so buying a 7 dollar plate of noodles lasts me for my lunch AND my dinner or a late night snack. Spring rolls are bigger than tapex spring rolls but it’s stuffed with lots of cabbage and 2 out of there 3 times I’ve gotten spring rolls, they were broken :(
