Ionia Group is a boutique design & publishing house. It is the working result of founder M. Haugh’s two passions: graphic design and literature.

Megan H.

Business Owner

I’m a poet and graphic designer currently based in San Diego, CA. I have an MFA in English from UC Irvine, and I discovered my passion for design while working my way through school as an in-​house graphic designer.

I’m very much focused on the tone of the design work I do: the imagery, the typeface, the copy has to communicate clearly and contribute to an accurate sense of the thing being represented whether it’s a logo, a book or album cover, or a poster.

I like the challenge of creating visual representations in limited spaces. With a logo, for example, you only have an inch or two to work within, and you have to create something that speaks positively and accurately of the company or person for whom you’re working. I love figuring out the right combinations of shapes and colors and space and words to create the representation.
