Sophie at Model Call Salon is amazing! She’s so sweet and funny and has a true talent with hair. I’m always happy with my highlights and cut after seeing Sophie. I’d highly recommend her!

Kim is now at Model Call!!! If you need any waxing or skincare, especially facials, this is the place to go and she is the woman to see! I have been with her for years at her previous location and I love that she is now striking out on her own. She has a nice little spot in the back that is so nice and quiet it makes for the perfect location for facials and relaxation.

Sophie is my girl! Been coming back just to see her for the past 3 years. Ever since my first appointment, she’s been the only person that I would let touch my hair. She listens to what you want and the end result is always 10x better than what you imagined. I never leave disappointed and I’m always getting so many compliments on my cut/​color. She’s amazing! And she’s hilarious, makes the time pass by so fast!

I go to Model Call Salon for Sophie. Sophie is amazing! Although I know nothing about hair styles (I’m a guy who keeps his hair short generally), Sophie knows exactly how to make me look clean and sexy. I always feel like a new man after her haircut! She is cordial, courteous and attentive, not to mention super talented at what she does. My wife loves her as well, and I can’t recommend her highly enough for all hair needs!

It has been over 4 years and I keep coming back to SOPHIE MEAS for my hair! Even though I moved to LA, I make special trips to La Jolla just to see Sophie. I have tried many other hairstylists, but nobody does a better job than her. I even have cried over hair mistakes made by others and went back to Sophie just to get it fixed. She always does a beautiful job with my hair and I always get compliments. She also is a great listener and knows exactly what to do with my hair. Go see Sophie, and you won’t regret it :)

Heather Ryan is the absolute best! Heather Ryan listened to what I said I wanted, and had great ideas about how to improve upon my ideas. She is the AWESOME! Also, she was booked for a wedding I was in– she made the bride and the bridesmaids hair gorgeous!

Kimberly Gibson is as good as it gets in cutting and coloring hair! She cuts my hair in a bob cut and it is perfect every time. She really takes the time to get it just right. The color is so natural looking people don’t even know that I color my hair. I get compliments on my hair and the color all the time. She really knows what she is doing! She will be my stylist forever!

Danielle is the best!!! I have the unfortunate combination of ashy dark brown hair with streaks of gray hair in random places. (I’m only 31. Thanks, Mom!) She warms it up and puts in highlights that completely mask the gray and let me go a little longer in between touchups. I compliments on my color ALL of the time, and no one would ever know that I’m middle-​aged from the eyebrows up. Every time I’ve gone lighter in the past my hair would get so damaged it would fall out, but after 2 years it’s longer and healthier than ever. FINALLY someone I can trust.

Waste of time. Highlights did not come out right, haircut was lopsided, had to come back to get it fixed, when I got it fixed whatever product she put in my hair burned some of the skin near my ear. Hair stylist worked with two clients at once each time I was there. Did not feel like a salon experience, did not feel pampered, and they were pricey. Gave it two stars because people including hair stylist were nice, but experience and quality was not good. Will not return.

Ben DiMarco is literally San Diego’s best kept secret!!! I am new to the area, was looking for a stylist, and randomly booked an appointment at Model Call. Little did I know, Ben would give me the most AMAZING cut! He relocated here from Denver (so not many people know about him). Ben was trained by the best, and it’s evident he’s truly a master of the trade — He had so much knowledge about how to cut my long, straight hair so it flattered & framed my face perfectly. And he did it so effortlessly! He explained what he was doing every step of the way, which made me feel 100% confident that I was in good hands. No wonder Ben had a 2 month wait list for appointments back in Denver! Couldn’t be happier that I found him :)

If you want to pay $ 180 for the partial root touch up, this is the place! Tony did my hair in April, and I’m happy with my root color but didn’t expect to overpay for what he has done. Not worth that much $$$$

Heather is absolutely amazing! She does perfect coloring and can suggest really creative styles to do. The space is super cool and trendy with everything you’d expect of a top notch NYC salon. Parking is street parking and I was nervous parking in a 1 hour spot because the process took about 2 hours but thankfully no ticket! There’s a ton of people working here and it is a really fun environment. It’s actually priced a little less than most of the other boutique salons in the area but you’ll get way more value out of your style.

Please do not buy groupon with Terra Adams. The stylist never bothers to return your calls for an appointment. I am still waiting for a month since the purchase of the groupon. Hoping that groupon customer staff can help me get the refund. Because of Terra Adams unprofessional way of dealing with potential clients, I will never use or recommend Model Call Salon.

Heather is one of the best hair stylist I have ever been to, she is really thorough and does my hair exactly how I want it to be. Not only am I really pleased with her work but she is also so nice and pleasant to be around!

First of all, after making an appointment 2 weeks in advanced, I showed up to the door and they tell me that Terra wasn’t even in. It turns out she was having car issues that day, which is totally understandable, I get it. Everyone has car issues every once in a while. But if this is your business and you plan on making money off of it, you should have called me in advance and told me not to come. I had to take work off a little early and I felt like I should have just stayed. Thank goodness she could see me the next day.
In terms of my hair, she got what I wanted in a haircut but my hair color didn’t turn out how I wanted it to. Maybe I wasn’t clear about what I wanted, but I wanted a ombré/​balayage from black to almost dirty blonde. My hair turned out from black to chestnut brown/​reddish/​orange AND it’s kinda streaky. I like that some parts of it are lighter than others but otherwise, I’m pretty sad that this happened. I am asian with asian thick hair and I understand why it turned chestnut brown because I have dyed my hair before with box color and this is the color it usually wants to become, but I should have emphasized that I was trying to ward from that icky red color. And these thick highlights are really not the business. I wanted a natural look (well, the most natural looking it can be) and these chunks of hair doesn’t look natural at all.
She said that I would need more than a few sessions to get it to what I wanted, but, why is it so streaky and chunky? If anything it should be more subtle? I didn’t appreciate getting blamed for something that wasn’t my fault.
Ugh, just a horrible experience.

My husband recently got his hair cut by Ben. I can honestly say it was the best hair cut he has ever received. No clippers, no freshly cut look. Ben is a mega talent and really funny, him and Tony his booth neighbor, kept both of us laughing and entertained the entire time. Loved the experience. I think I am going to switch over too.

My review is solely based off of Jaclyn Meinert– she’s amazing! I came in with orangey/​brassy/​yellow hair (I’m Asian so my hair is naturally dark dark brown), and left with a beautiful «mocha» blonde that was perfect for my skin tone. She’s highly knowledgeable, easy to talk to and extremely skilled at what she does. She gave my hair life again! I plan on seeing her again when I’m back in the area.

I have been going to Terra for years and she always does excellent work. I have referred several of my coworkers (including women) and everyone loves her. She truly cares about her clients and her attention to detail is unparalleled.

I came in to Model Call my first time to get a root touch up and cut with a Living social coupon. Tony my stylist highly recommend I get peek-​a– boo highlights and some highlights around my face. I really didn’t intend on getting highlights, but he was so convincing that a few foils placed here and there would make a great difference.
Wow, he was right! I’m loving my highlights. It wasn’t drastic and I prefer a more natural look as a dark brown brunette. I’ve had bad experiences with highlights that just turn orange or just too brassy. I highly recommend him to all you brunettes out there.

This was my first time at model call salon and I walked in with dark brown hair, and I walked out with a beautiful ombré look! Tony did my hair and he was fantastic! On his card it says «color specialist» and yes he is! Everyone go to Tony he is personable, and he knows his hair!
