Select Home Appraisal – John Douglas Parkes

I did a refinance project for my townhouse, working with a few mortgage brokers until i was able to actually do the refinancing. So in this process I had an appraisal in Feb 2013 and the report and the number (the house value) were superb! I could have not asked for anything better. Unfortunately the person working to get me the loan and the lender were not doing a good job, so ultimately i had to cancel the offer. I started new negotiations in April with a new company (the were amazing!) and in this phase, I had to have a new appraisal. The person who came to my house — John Douglas Parkes — did an absolutely dissatisfying job. The appraisal figure he came up with was $ 15,000 less than it should have been, and that of course affected my overall loan figures. He valued my house to the same amount as the appraisal done in February 2013 and I know from looking at comparables and Zillow that my house like all the real estate was going back up vertiginously! While the Feb 2013 appraisal was describing everything as «good» conditions, Mr Parkes’ review described everything as «average». He took the most uncomplimentary photos of my house and of the surroundings. He was asking me questions about size and measurements even if i told him everything should be standard and that i do not know inch/​feet since i use the metric system Unfortunately this industry is probably not regulated and the result of his work affected the end result of my loan, like i already said.
The software asked me to add a rating — i had to select one star — but definitely he does not deserve anything but to be eliminated from this line of work.
