I like to come here after work sometimes(it’s right next door) to get a combo meal. Great burger and fries to cheer me up if I’ve had a long day. Music is relaxing, employees are nice, and it’s usually pretty quiet inside. Can’t ask for much more

This place sucks. So many other nice places in LJ to go to other than this place. Only reason we went is because my mom gave me a gift card someone gave to her a year ago.(Apparently they hate us because it was to this place) Fail 1– I order and wanted a shake. They were defrosting the fridge. Apparently they were doing their closing duties 2.5 hours before close. So bad. Fail 2– got bacon I my burger and there were two of the most minuscule slices I have ever seen on them Fail 3– the burger patty had to have been pre frozen, it kept breaking apart and was way too overcooked. Just a not good quality of meat. Fail 4– if you are closing down early, then change your hours on your freakin door! This franchise owner has no clue what they are doing. Look around pal, see all the restaurants out of business.

To die for! Every time I eat here I’m totally satisfied with my meal. They start making your food fresh right when you order and don’t skimp on sauce and seasonings. This place makes you feel welcome, they bring the food right to you! The BBQ Bacon burger is my absolute favorite. If you want to be healthier, their salads are really great– I love the cob. Smash Fries are a must try, they’re coated in olive oil, garlic, and other seasonings. Lunch time is busy but they have your food out to you very quickly even so. Always a great place :)

Food was good but the service wasn’t great. It was our first time there. So we asked some questions, and the woman helping us seemed annoyed. She rushed us to order when we weren’t sure what we wanted and there was no one waiting. She was actually rude. The restaurant was clean but we thought they were closing because after they cleaned the tables they tipped the table on its side and onto the bench seat. Very strange. It was 8:00pm and the close at 10pm. Not sure if I will return.

Had the ahi tuna burger, over cooked and dry, the San Diego burger was better. Smash fries are tasty with the rosemary and herbs. The cashier was friendly and engaging. Took 3 hours from long Beach to la jolla. .that’s California!

This was my first time at this smashburger. The staff I wish I got their names were amazing! They were so sweet! I ordered my food online. I will definitely go back just for the staff they were the nicest people ever. The only bad thing is the parking. Must be nice to be rich and not have to work in the middle of the day hahaha. Try the black bean burger it’s to die for!

We were sent coupons to our company for this location and everyone was craving for burgers the next day, so we placed our order for pick-up. I decided to create my own burger– you choose your bun, toppings, cheese, and then the add-ons. I also got a side of their signature smashed fries, which were tossed in Italian olive oil, garlic, and rosemary. Everyone else just got the pre-made versions or a salad. Our order was ready in ten minutes, which was fast for 8 entrees! It was lunchtime and there was hardly anyone there, but the guy behind the counter was friendly and nice– he reminded me of Russel Wong… Our food was placed in bags and already labeled, so there was no mix-up when we were distributing what everyone got at the office. I thought my chipotle bun was a little dry and not spicy at all. The fries were thinly cut and pretty good though. I remember going to the Mission Valley location over five years ago and my burger tasted much better than the one I had today. Not sure if it’s tastier at that location, or my taste buds are just more picky lately.

SOMUCHBETTERWHENYOUORDERIN. Don’t take this stuff to-go, because the minute you walk out the door your sides and burger will lose heat faster than my gran’s discarded high-waist spanx, and you will. not. be. happy. about. it. Thanks to my cashier/server for making me feel right at home in a fast food joint.

Okay, so I thought this was a subsidiary or the«fast» version of umami due to the menu being so similar(black bean burger, truffle burger, needle fries) but it seems to be an original hailing from Colorado and now has over 300 locations. I get this growth, it’s yummy. They tailor to the burger lover and the health nut, offering fried carrots and asparagus along with French fries. The staff is always super welcoming and all locations have outdoor doggie water bowls as well as an off-menu ‘fido’ burger which is served on a heart shaped plate for your fluff ball. I have and will be back!

Parking in downtown La Jolla is so unbelievable hard to so after spending about 15 mins. looking I decided to park in a lot next to Smashburger $ 10.00 all day, this place has an outside patio inside there are bench, and tall table and chairs setting, the place was clean even the restroom, we just order the famous smashfries which was tossed in olive oil, rosemary, and garlic«they were OK «great flavor, but another great thing is the soda machine is on the side free refills, both on the staff here were super cool and friendly

One of the best places for a burger in La Jolla! Especially when it comes to prices, this is one of the best priced dining options in the area! Service was fantastic, I loved my salad which I added a veggie burger patty to, as well as my side of veggie fries. Very generous portions, good quality and cooked and presented perfectly. The kids meals are generous and my husband loved his burger and smash fries as well. Clean restaurant with plenty of seating and not too full, our food came out quickly. Worth checking out while in La Jolla!

Convenient location nearby La Jolla Cove, so we decided to grab a quick lunch here. Got a Baja salad without chicken. It was pretty good. The guac and jalapenos were my favorite part. Oh yeah, the bacon was good, too. My friends got crispy chicken with the same salad, and after looking at what they got I knew I messed up. I should’ve gotten the chicken. Oh well, trying to keep up with the La Jolla beach body scene, ya know? Again, not a bad salad.

When you are hungry sometimes all you care about is getting something quick and easy. We found one of the coveted spots in La Jolla and ran into the first food place we spotted. Smash Burger. It was wonderful. We walked in and instantly got in line. It was a long line, but it gave us time to figure out what we were going to order. I tried to be frugal so I went with choose your own burger and had all the free toppings: grilled onions, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber,(Who wants cucumber on a burger?! I’ve never heard of it, but got it because it was free and ate it soon as the burger arrived. Nice and crunchy.) Smash sauce, I don’t recall if I choose cheese. If it was free I put on a slab. I choose the Chipotle bun, it was spicy, which was good, I didn’t want a bland burger. I think I’ll choose something else next time. We ordered the basic fries and shared them. This is one of my favorite fry place. They were crispy, without a hint of limp. The people were friendly and helpful, after they brought to your table your order they asked you if there was anything else you needed. The delivery of the burger was a bit on the slow side, but they were busy so I can’t really dock them for that. It was delivered fresh and hot and that’s what matters. It’s much quicker than a sit down restaurant. They made it to me before I had a melt down from not eating. I’d go back due to I loved the fries and the burger was really good. Just in case if you were wondering they don’t have a private lot. You just park on the street. There was a valet for the restaurant next door. I bet if you were desperate you could pay them to park your car.

Smash burger wasn’t really what I expected. Burger was a decent size, but small meat. Unless you go with the«big» option. Otherwise it was delicious, and they give a ton of fries. Smash sauce just taste like mustard and mayo. Don’t get your hopes up haha.

I still have not figured out the SoCal Burger craze. Everyone says they have the best burger, and sadly, none of them are right. This includes Smashburger. I have given this place several tries and have never left thinking, «Wow, that was great!» The burgers are burgers. They are good, but they are not great. They have plenty of options, so there is a choice for everyone. I personally prefer the chicken. The strong point on the menu is the fries and shakes. Both are delicious… separately or together. I have to agree with other posts that cleanliness drags this place down a star. If the dining area was kept up a little more, this would be a four star place. I have yet to go in(5 times) and not see dirty tables, full trash cans and messy soda bar. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. Will provide recommendations if you are having issues choosing.

Good legit Merican style cheesburger. Beef was well cooked and juicy. The lettuce, tomatoes and onions were fresh. Fries are thin cut, crispy and good. There’s nothing really innovative or fancy about this place. Just good solid burgers.

Good for a quick and easy meal. The tables were not clean and the guy working did not clean it even after we asked so we cleaned it ourselves. There was only one person delivering the food and cleaning. They need more people here. The burger was good. I liked how it was not uniform and the chipotle mayo was tasty. They serve honest tea here as an alternative to soda.
