Staff is prompt and courteous. The Dr is thorough and friendly! Nice selection of frames for the whole family.

Myself and my family have been patients of Dr Riggs for at least 5 years now and have never had a bad experience. There are 6 of us so we frequent GVCO quite a bit! All of the staff and Dr Riggs are very friendly and inviting and we’re always greeted with a smile! They are all very knowledgeable and they offer a nice selection of frames and contact lenses at very affordable prices. I love that they aren’t ever pushy sales people either.
The office is small but comfortable and CLEAN! I appreciate the kids corner in the back by the exam room so my daughter can entertain herself during my eye exam.
Another thing I LOVE about this place is they offer late appointments so I don’t have to miss work and my kids don’t have to miss school for our appointments!!!
I highly recommend Dr Riggs and GVCO; you won’t be disappointed!

Amazing Service by an even more Amazing Staff! First time to this office and I will definitely be back, as well as my family! Dr. Biggs was not only thorough, but very personable! Being new to the area, I wasn’t sure what to expect since I had been going to the same optometrist for years. I was pleasantly surprised by the kindness, enthusiasm and professionalism of the entire staff at grossmont vision center. The Dr. was friendly and took time to address concerns I had. The office staff was fantastic! From making the appointment to picking out new frames to helping me out with insurance costs. Lynn helped me choose the frames I currently have, I love her willingness to help me with the decision, but also keeping my budget in mind.
I received my frames in less than a week and love them.

I have been seeing Dr. Riggs for three years now and have to say he is awesome! Very knowledgeable and friendly. He always prescribes the minimal prescription needed for you to see well. Other optometrist in contrast will give you prescriptions that make you feel like you can see through walls. Way too strong. But I always leave feeling like I am in good hands and that he cares about me. The staff is great as well. If you are looking for an optometrist go here you won’t be disappointed.

This is a great and professional store. Management and staff here personally gets involve with customer concerns and replies back in a timely matter. No hidden fees and all service charge are disclosed in the beginning. The ophthalmologist, Dr. Riggs is the best in the practice that I have encounter. I highly recommend this place.

I was extremely turned off by my experience with Grossmont Vision Center. I left before I even got to see Dr. Riggs because it was one up-​sell after another in addition to fees they forgot to tell me about on the phone. No thank you.

I have been seeing Dr. Riggs for over a decade now and have never been disappointed by even one of my visits. He is personable, professional and very knowledgable which are important factors for someone who has been reliant on contacts/​glasses since grade 2. He has a way of picking great staff and seems well-​connected with technology.
The reason for this (long overdue) review is that recently I had PRK eye surgery. After receiving two different referrals from Grossmont Vision to have consultations prior to choosing a surgeon, I received two very different opinions from each surgeon. This left me confused and admittedly scared on the type of surgery (and consequently the long-​term risks and results) as well as which surgeon to choose. So I called and left a message for Dr. Riggs (as he had prepared me beforehand for the potential news of not being a LASIK candidate). Dr. Riggs called me back that same day and took the time to listen to my concerns. Then he called the surgeon I was leaning toward to discuss my case who then called me.
Although it was frustrating to hear two opposite opinions from the eye surgeons, in hindsight I am glad I did because it made my apprehension about PRK less so when looking at the (worse) alternative surgery. I chose Dr. Alison Gordon at Gordon-​Weiss and felt completely at ease with a difficult (and very important) decision. Surgery went well and I am looking forward to seeing Dr. Riggs with my new eyes!

Everyone here is amazing. Go there. The exam was the BEST exam I’ve received in ages. Fast service. I felt understood, accepted, and validated — -or maybe I’m just happy to be able to see clearly! Contacts check. Glasses — urmmmm, I have to go back for those – the frame selection is great and with clear vision (see what I did there) I could tell this visit was not the one to frame shop,(my time crunch). But that just gives me a reason to go back. You’ve been warned Grossmont Vision Center Optometry (that is a long name though), I hope you have some of those pretty clear mints on hand.

Let me start by saying I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 10 years old. My experiences here have been the best all around I’ve ever had. I’ve seen both doctors, who were both informative, patient, congenial, and gave me a great rx. The office is smaller than the larger chain optometrist offices, but I like that because it affords me more individual attention. They also have a great selection of frames. This last visit Elizabeth helped me find a GREAT pair of frames in record time! I’ve never been in and out of an eye appointment so quickly, including new rx, lenses and frames picked out! Annnnd, they take my insurance. Happy I found them

I had a horrible experience with another doctor. This office was clean, quiet, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. They doctor spent almost 40 minutes getting my vision just right. I explained I’ve had really bad headaches and my eyes hurt. Turns out the other place I had been ignored my astigmatism and just strengthened my power. I am now a happy camper! I can see clearer than ever! They even offered to price match 1800 contacts. I will be a forever client with the experience I had today!

My husband and I visited Dr. Riggs for the first time today. Dr. Riggs was thorough, helpful, and really took time to advise us. Amy patiently helped us select frames and the entire staff was very friendly throughout our visit. Love the customer service!

These gals take great care of you. Elizabeth ordered sleeve replacements for my Oakley’s. Got them in 3 days. Amy put them on for me and they gave me a discount. What service!

The receptionist was misleading with when my contacts would be in. She told me to come back at 1:30. Came back only to find a sign that said at lunch until 2 pm. Well it’s 2:10 and they’re still off at lunch. Thanks for caring about your customers.

100% perfect experience
I called Dr. Riggs at 6:30am because my son poked me in my eye and scratched my cornea. His emergency answering service connected me to him and he gave me advice over the phone. I was so pleased to have spoken with him and have him tell me what to (after talking to a few pharmacists and people who did not really know what to do).
Dr. Riggs called me that afternoon to make sure I was doing better. What a pleasant surprise. He offered to squeeze me into his already booked schedule to take a look and see if he could help my pain.
When I went in the office staff was so nice and friendly. Dr. Riggs saw me right away and gave me anti-​biotic drops for my eye and put on a clear contact shield to help the cornea heal. It felt so much better.
He scheduled me to come back the next day for a check-​up and again, he was right on time and so friendly. I am going back later today so he can remove the shield since my eye is almost healed.
I am so grateful to him for seeing me and helping me out. I was in so much pain and he immediately made it better.

After a rocky start making an appointment (using their «Make an Appointment» option on the web page… definitely would have been more efficient to just pick up the phone and call!). Highly recommend this facility for your optometry needs. Everyone (Elizabeth, Lynn) was very friendly, helpful and took time to explain procedures. As a new patient, no matter how many times you go through a «routine eye exam» — this was unexpected but very well-​received! Dr. Kevin Riggs is clearly very knowledgeable and took a lot of time also to review my history and explain the results of my exam. He also — in layperson terms — clearly answered all my questions and concerns. It took me 7 years after my favorite Optometrist of several years retired to find another resource for my vision needs. I’m very pleased with this choice!

Short story:
I needed contacts ASAP, Dr. Riggs staff got me in even though I’m not a customer and gave me temporary contacts while my new ones are delivered
Long story:
I have terrible vision and have been getting new contacts instead of glasses for the last 10 years. Yesterday my last pair of contacts got a tear in them. I called my (now former) optometrist, and they couldn’t do anything for me. Called (my new optometrist) Dr. Riggs and his staff got me in same day, gave me a couple daily lenses to get me through until the full pack comes in.
Side note, he diagnosed my eye symptoms and gave me tips to keep my eyes healthier. I want to get laser eye surgery and they provided all the information needed for that. Keep in mind this was a last minute, urgent appointment that Dr. Riggs and his staff was able to help me with.

Leigh Ann is the BEST thing happening here! So HELPFUL, Knowledgeable and KIND!
The DR is very good and very serious about his service, great to know your eyes are in GREAT hands…
I WISH they still took our insurance…
Put it this way, I am still coming there to get my glasses and contacts…
