Great food, friendly service. I want to tell all my friends about this place. I have been here before and will be back again soon. See my photo of my meat lovers pizza!

I have to admit, sometimes I crave a pizza made either from Round Table, Filippi’s or a deep dish. But if I am just craving a great tasting pizza, this is the place I go to. Nonno’s seems to have found the right balance of great dough/crust, right amount of good tasting sauce, great ingredients & perfect bake time. I have yet to try anything but pizza to go here, but every time I come here I can’t resist taking a slice out & eating it before taking it home or to work. Great friendly people working there. I’m going to have to try other menu items beyond the pizza, but it’s hard to break tradition when the pizza is so good.

I am impressed with this small Italian joint. Very good food. Sauce was not sweet, I hate sugared down sauce. This sauce was great! We ordered the original Calzon, seafood pasta, and cheese pizza. The dough was perfect, had that perfect saltiness to it. I highly recommend this spot for good Italian.

My work went here for my birthday lunch celebration. Talk about amazing experience! Of course we were on a time crunch because of the work schedule. We were able to call ahead and place orders. When we arrived all the food was beautifully set up on the table waiting for us & it was still super hot! :) Everything was delicious, we had all different pasta types, mine was the spicy shrimp pasta with capaveli noodles; to die for it was so good and super spicy just like I asked for. I can’t wait to order from this place again. This will be a go to for work celebrations. I can’t wait to go back and try the wine selection too. The man who waited on us is I am pretty sure the owner and he was so kind and attentive. He even asked my name a slipped in a suprise birthday cannolli plate with my name on it :). it was a great mom and pop home made delicious eatery these are my favorite kind of places to enjoy.

Pros: Big portions, friendly service, no wait for table. Cons: Food that tastes like it’s from a chain pizzeria, amateurish service, warm wine If you’re looking for fine dining, this is not the place. It’s a hole-in-the-wall neighborhood establishment with some unusual selections on the menu(Risotto con Verdure – Italian creamy rice dish with greens), but marinara sauce that had to have come from a can, and ambience that I would characterize as shopping-mall Italian. The marinara – the staple of most mom&pop Italian joints – does not taste fresh at all – more like tomato paste with added salt and some oregano flakes. And they pour it on top of everything. Our server was polite and good-natured, but forgot to give us flatware and napkins. The wine list had some interesting Italian selections and the Nero d’Avola I chose by the glass was pretty good. But it was served room temperature or warmer, which made it a little hard to enjoy. The Italian sausages had good flavor, but were tough and rubbery. I’ve heard the pizza is good, and I guess that’s what most people order here – to go.

I love Nonno’s! Everything I’ve tried has been wonderful! This is our go to pizza spot, it doesn’t hurt that it is right down the street. I usually am not a fan of lasagna unless my mom made it, but their’s is really good. They even have great lunch time sandwiches. Definitely give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Just ordered dinner to be delivered. So good and delivered on time and hot! Risotto, spaghetti, manicotti, cheesy garlic bread, side of sausage and garden salads. Delicious. Great place to go out to dinner but also great being delivered.

Sorry to go from 5 stars to 3. I found the customer service here was off putting. They have a medium size pizza deal going on but you cannot do this deal with most pizzas. I ended up getting the $ 30 deal which I felt was pretty overpriced but the food got me through 4 dinners and 2 lunches. The pizza is excellent. No doubt about it. The salad is nothing amazing. I go in and my food isn’t ready yet so I wait even though I came in when they said too. Often places give you a free soda if you are waiting for them but no one offered soda or even water. There’s reminders about how stingy they are throughout the place. RESTROOMSFORCUSTOMERSONLY. DUETODROUGHTWENOLONGERGIVEYOUWATERUNLESSREQUESTED. Cheap, cheap, and more cheap… To top it off once I got my food it was a lot to carry and no one working there felt that they should get the door for me…

Excellent! We got the eggplant appetizer. It was very flavorful and the sauce was wonderful. We also got 2 pizzas; the bella and rustico. They are both delicious but personally I preferred the rustico. It had a red sauce, prosciutto, chicken and onions. Sooooo good! My only complaint is that is was a bit of a wait to get the food and there was only one other person in the restaurant. Other than that, the food was wonderful!

Thank you Unilocalers and Unilocalettes! This place does not disappoint. Hubby went and picked up a phone order he did mention the place was solo so I was hoping that wasn’t a sign. I ordered the Belle pizza and the original calzone, dang it is delicious! The dough is unlike any dough I have ever had, the crust is crunchy but light inside and it holds up well to the fresh toppings. The calzone was something else super savory and creamy just plain delicious! Definitely a must try it is well worth it.

This place is amazing! Super cozy, small, and welcoming. We’ve been here numerous times and EVERY time the customer service is exceptional. Thank you, Ricky! You are the reason we keep coming back! About the food… DELICIOUS! Our favorites are: APPETIZER: Shrimp and Artichoke Hearts and the Rat Pack SALAD: Caprese ENTREES: Spicy Roma Shrimp is our hands down favorite, but the Dean Martin and the Lasagna are also exceptional. Oh! And the Fettuccine Alfredo and the Ravioli! PIZZA: YES

Ok to start who ever gave this joint a high rating is totally high. The service is very nice. That’s about it for saying nice things. The food is mediocre at best dry pasta not fresh, pretty sure the pizza dough is frozen store bought. The wine is totally over priced!!! The décor is pretty budget as well. Pasta dishes are not good. Really too bad. I was hoping for the best. Totally bummed that this place sucks.

I went with my BFF for lunch here on a Sunday and it was completely empty. Odd I feel, because the food really was GREAT quality. It did take some time to wait for anything we needed/ordered because it was just one guy taking the orders, refilling water, and MAKING the food from what I could tell. It was a modest kitchen but I could see him working on everything! I had the pesto chicken pasta and it was VERY good– not too oily, fresh noodles and good quality chicken. I also couldn’t resist helping my friend eat her calzone! She got the one with all 3 meats(sausage, pepperoni, and ham) and it was overloaded with cheese and HUGE! I was happy to assist :) The garlic bread we got with it was also perfectly cooked and I would have asked for more if he had seemed as though he had time/returned before we finished our meals. Overall a lovely job, thanks!

I came here on Easter because I wanted to celebrate the true meaning of Easter. Easter started as a pagan fertility festival so my husband and I got pizza. Pizza is very similar to sex and the pizza at Nonno’s is sex in the mouth. It was my first time here and it definitely won’t be my last. Because the gross ass garbage Omelette Factory is in the same shopping center, I’ve been avoiding Nono’s for a long time. Nonno’s was the closest opened restaurant to my house on Easter so we dined in. The dining experience and the food were fantastic! We started with the toasted garlic bread. The servers were so generous with offering us more. We probably ate $ 20 in garlic bread. You don’t want to pass it up. Then we had the shrimp and artichoke heart appetizer. I have never seen capers so big in my life. Then the sexiest part of the night came next. The Bella’s pizza: mozzarella and ricotta, chicken, spinach, mushroom, and white sauce. I think Nonno’s has the best pizza I’ve ever tasted. You can create your own pizzas, pick different sizes, and even get delivery. Their website offers all of the good deets(details), coupons, and lists their menu. I’m definitely coming back for a wine date night with my husband. Pro tip: cut your pizza into pieces and scramble your eggs in it for a superfood breakfast.

Just ate at this place. Two salmon dishes and two plates of pasta with butter and meat sauce, and beer $ 86(with tip). That is not bad for a nice fresh food, but this was definitely not great. The salmon was ok thanks to the sweet pepper sauce and veggies were just fine. The meat sauce was terrible. A can of thick tomatoe paste with some meat in it– I had difficulty watching my kid eat it. The service is not great either– my husband waited for 15 min to get a beer, and had to ask for it. Food took forever. Would not come back. There was a Pollo Locco nearby– I regreted not going there!

The food was awesome! I found myself closing my eyes and savoring every bite! I will surely return or recommend this place. I was like comfort food for the soul. I had lasagna and bruschetta.

Unilocal removed my review because«it lacked firsthand experience». Well NOWAY, I ate here 3 times(2 take outs and once I had the horrible idea to eat there to taste hot pizza but the place is depressing) so I will repost exactly what I wrote that is indeed based on my personal experience ! What’s wrong with Unilocal, they removed 4 of my reviews for sane reasons and I dined/bought in every single place I reviewed. So again my reviews of Nonno’s. La Mesa restaurant situation is pretty tragic … So i will be generous and give Nonno’s a 3 stars. 3.5 for a pizza in LA Mesa and 2 for the ***italian*** food. Very sad inside … if you are depressed and want to feel worse eat here.

Very friendly family atmosphere inside! You could tell that people in there had been coming there for a while and knew the management and/or staff. I called in an order and picked it up myself. The pizza we got was the meat lovers and was piping hot. It was tasty and definitely tasted like a homemade pizza, but it was a bit soggy. I used a groupon and it was an ok deal with it, but without it would have been overpriced for soggy pizza. Props for the homey atmosphere and taste, but the pizza shouldn’t have gotten that soggy from a 2 minute drive home.

I seem to remember trying this place out before when I first moved to the area. I called in a order to go for some pasta. The guy who answered the phone was quick and to the point, got my order correctly and gave me an estimated time. I went there on the dot in the time he gave me, my food was just being put in the bag, pretty impressive. I ordered the half and half combo order with spaghetti and cheese ravioli. The pasta was cooked to perfection, it was just right. The sauce was kinda meh, but then again I went with the Mariana sauce and not the meat one. I’d definitely try this place out again, their pizza looks pretty good too. I’ll have to call them up for delivery next time.
