I have seen Dr. Novo twice and compared to another Optometrist outside of Scripps I thought he was much more thorough than the other exams. He was very nice and professional. He also explained things to me on how to care for my eye problem (blepheritis). He was good at figuring out which lens I needed and my glasses came out just right. I paid cash because I don’t have insurance for eye care and they gave me a big discount which made it very reasonable and comparable to big box stores. I am going back this year even though it is a longer drive. The eye glass shop is not associated with Dr. Novo and I don’t buy my glasses there as it is too expensive for me.

I like the way Dr Novo runs the operation, his PA handles the upfront simple tasks, much as a PA with an Internist taking vitals. This allows the doctor to spend more quality time with the patient. He also asked personal questions to assist in his evaluation, which through engaging in conversation puts the patient at ease

I have since asked around and THREE other people who have gone to him had horrible experiences and never went back — 1 is a nurse too!
I forgot to mention that he also asked inappropriate questions like «Are you single?» And when I said «yes» he asked «why?»!!!
I asked a friend of a friend who’s an optometrist whether this was an incomplete exam and he confirmed that it was and said it sounded like Dr. Novo was just being lazy!
My review remains the same — I just had to add the extra information because I am still in shock that someone would care so little about his job, especially when it entails taking care of other people’s health!
