The next time I went back it was a different barber. A woman, who seemed to be the owner, was there too. When I went to pay I was told I didn’t qualify for the senior discount because I am only 65. You have to be 66. I always got the discount before. I have found another barber so I guess I will never see the senior discount from Pat’s.

We just happened to stumble onto this barber shop because we were having our car worked on in the area. My spouse and I needed a haircut and wanted to get it done while our other car was getting an oil change. We were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of work and the price. We think Pauline is the new owner, but regardless, she is great. She gives a great hair cut at a very good price — $ 8 for every type of men’s hair cut, including fades, where everywhere else that type of haircut runs about $ 13. The inside is very nice too, decorated in Asian décor. Plus she has a great variety of magazines also. Over all, it is a great value!

The owner is really nice and really talkative. As I was getting a haircut she greeted both by name and actually asked them about specific people in their families. So she’s pretty good with the locals here. The place is clean and its not run down. Price was decent at $ 9 a cut. I would come back to see how she does next time to see how consistent she is. Overall: –Pros: Good price, clean establishment –Cons: She took a little longer than what I’m used to

Susie Li is the proprietor even though it’s called Pat’s barbershop. Been going here a long time and it’s probably the best barber shop in La Mesa. If she is not in the shop check next door in the laundry mat Susie may have just put in her laundry. Very senior friendly as it’s only $ 6 for a senior cut and $ 9 for the rest of us. Susie remembers everyone, an amazing memory considering how many people come and go. Typically there are 2 customers ahead of you so bring something to read or pick up a magazine off the rack.
