Warm Hearth La Mesa

Our go to place for anything fireplace and barbecue related. We bought a really nice smoker there on a special they were having on a really nice price. Always helpful with their recommendations, chimney sweepers, plumbers and etc. Very friendly people, you wouldn’t find this level of attention, inventory (brands) and care for the client on home depot or any of those big stores. Great costumer service.

I love this place. We bought a high end Firemagic grill plus lots of doors and accessories for an outdoor kitchen. We have gotten great service from them on some minor grill issues. Their prices beat anything I could see online as well. I would highly recommend checking them out for any grill or fireplace purchase.

I wanted to convert my traditional wood burning fireplace to gas and didn’t know where to start. Carla was so helpful and patiently explained the difference between gas logs, gas inserts, and complete fireplace systems, plus what to look for in the option I choose. I’m not quite ready to buy yet but this helped me know what I need to do to prepare, and when I AM ready to buy I’ll definitely be back.

We moved into an older home with a gas fireplace was more or less home made, SDG&E cleared it but the flames were never great and it made a whistling noise. I tried various things until going to this store, The employees were absolutely fantastic. I brought pictures of the set up and they spent a good deal of time and patience with me to figure out what the issues were. Ultimately I only needed a simple replacement burner. The fact that I wasn’t shopping for a new fireplace and possibly just needed a small part says a lot about these people, I wasn’t exactly a big customer but they spent a lot of time with me anyways. Doesn’t matter if you’re in there for a new fireplace or a little part, they treat you well either way.

I am in need of a new door/​screen assembly for my old fireplace. I went to a fireplace store in El Cajon and was told that I couldn’t buy a replacement, but would have to get a custom made door/​screen and they start at $ 800! I was shocked and complained that $ 800 was a lot to pay for a fireplace we’ve never used and probably never will. I left and drove immediately to Warm Hearth in La Mesa. I walked in, explained what I wanted, was quickly led over to the type of fireplace I have and was told that the doors and screen can be replaced for ~ $ 200 – 250. I told Dave the salesman that he just saved me over $ 500! I know now that I just need to get the model number of my existing fireplace door and he can get the ball rolling! In search of a simple item and eager to support a local store, I visited the Warm Hearth. There were two people behind the counter speaking to a third person behind a divider when I entered. When the two people behind the counter saw me walking towards them, they both walked away from the counter to avoid interrupting their conversation and addressing me or, god forbid, welcoming me into the store.
After about 90 awkward seconds of the two employees that I could see carrying on their conversation just a few feet away from me yet avoiding eye contact, one of them approached the counter. Finally my presence was acknowledged, but the employee still did not speak a word to me. She stared at me blankly and after another awkward pause I asked if they had the product that was looking for. «No» was the only word that she responded with.
«Ok… Thanks…» I replied before turning to leave store. Once I was walking towards the exit I somehow earned enough merit to receive a full sentence from an employee. She said, «We used to carry that a long time ago, but we don’t anymore.»
This store has a lot of beautiful inventory, but wow, they cannot meet the most simple customer service expectations of greeting a customer. I can only imagine that once they have a customer’s money how little they would care.

Very knowledgeable and friendly group of people. We had gas logs which depleted the house of heat rather than heating the house. After a bit of shopping around, we decided on The Warm Hearth, and with their large selection in the store, we decided on one.
Dave was a great source of knowledge in the show room, Danny and Debbie had great ideas on what would work best for the room and the current fireplace and Danny did a great job of installing it. Two days later, the rain moved in and the house was wonderfully warm and cozy.
Highly recommend The Warm Hearth.

Surprisingly large store with good selection, great service, and very competitive prices.
In these days of big-​box stores and deep-​discount pricing, I didn’t expect to be so pleased with both the service and the pricing of a privately owned and operated (at least, I think it is) shop like this.
Debbie has helped me on several occasions, and each time, she treats me as if my priorities come first. Hard to find anymore. She’s even referred me to an outside source in order to save me money!
I have yet to spend a lot of money here, but I would not hesitate to do so now, after the good service I’ve already received. Thanks Debbie.

Hi hired The Warm Hearth to repair my gas fireplace that had a gas smell. They were onetime and fixed the problem. They cleaned the fireplace as well making it look great and charged a reasonable fee. I recommend them to others.

I found everyone at Warm Hearth to be helpful and friendly. I didn’t spend much money but they spent a lot of time with me. Love them.

They were very helpful and courteous.
We got our fireplace on time and installed professionally.
They provided a great reference to a chimney sweep that did a very good job.
Everybody was clean cut and professional all the way through the installation.
We had even followed up with several tech support questions which they gladly helped us out over phone with.
I would buy from them again.

I was very disappointed with the customer service here. Bought a wood stove and wanted to shop local. Was told it would arrive in two weeks. After 3 weeks, when no one had called we followed up. this lead to 4 more weeks of chasing them down on what was going on. Many different stories and reasons why the stove wasn’t available – all driven by me calling them. The manager finally got involved and after another week, we could get the stove we had paid for 7 weeks before. She was nice, but it was too little too late. Very frustrating.

We bought custom glass fireplace doors for a double-​sided stone fireplace and paid for installation at time of purchase. However, Warm Hearth said that WE had to chisel out the rocks to even up the opening because their installer «doesn’t do that». After installation, there were gaps as big as 1″-1 ½″ around the glass door frames. We had to call Warm Hearth repeatedly over several weeks to get resolution to this problem. Like any customer, when we paid for installation, we did not expect to do the prep work ourselves, nor did we expect that the installation would be anything less than COMPLETE and to our SATISFACTION. Warm Hearth had US contact their mason to fill the gaps with mortar; they agreed to pay $ 200 of his $ 300 bill, and we were stuck paying an additional $ 100 to get the job done!
The job is complete now and looks great. BUT… our overall feeling is that, while Warm Hearth has a very nice store with a wide range of products, they are less than satisfactory in their installation, customer service and returning phone calls. For these reasons, we can not recommend Warm Hearth.

I love this place. They have a very big selection of everything to do with fireplaces as well as BBQ’s and Spa’s. The staff has always been very knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend them!

I was treated very well at the Warm Hearth. I worked with Daniel at the service counter and Danny was the service/​installer who put my unit in. Both of these gentlemen had great customer service and treated me with kindness, offered good suggestions for what I was looking for, kept me informed on delivery as well as showed up at scheduled installation times. I wish I had photos to post, but I am still working on the over-​all ambiance of my fireplace. There are many working units in their store to check out– this is very helpful if you are still in the planning stages. All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase and recommend The Warm Hearth to those looking to install an insert or upgrade their unit. THANKS Danny and Daniel– I LOVE LOVE LOVE my fireplace!

I bought a remote control gas fireplace system from Warm Hearth in La Mesa approx 3 years ago. My first issue (a year later) was when it wouldn’t light when I hit the remote button. I changed the batteries in the remote hoping that would do the trick… I called and spoke to the manager of the store, told her the problem and what I had done, and she had no solution to offer. After scheduling a visit from Danny, the guy who installed it, I learned there was a battery INSIDE the fireplace also that needed to be changed in conjunction with the remote. SO, after a $ 75 service charge and $ 3.00 worth of my own batteries. it lit up again.
NOW… after turning on my fireplace it turns itself off in about 10 to 20 minutes. After 2 calls to the Warm Hearth (and no return call as promised) I was referred to an outside tech they use «when they are too busy». They weren’t to busy to take my $ 1,000.00 to buy and install the unit but obviously customer service after the sale is not important to them…

We have had a non-​functioning fireplace in our 90+ yr old home for the 10 years we have lived here. I did some research and found that just to line and damper a flue, it would cost almost as much as getting a wood burning insert! Well, some of my friends have these in their homes, they look great, they are very energy efficient and very ‘green’ (also get a 2010 tax credit). I talked to Daniel and he came out, and with in two weeks, we had the insert installed. NOW we sit like a family and have fires on nights like tonight– rainy, cold, etc. When my house drops to 68 degrees, I pop in some wood! I have been able to get the house five degrees warmer (73) from the living room (23’x15’) into our bedroom (15’x19’) and down the hallway (big rooms anyway). These inserts are awesome! And the people at the Warm Hearth are very knowledgeable, friendly and fast. They have great business ethics and really helpful people. I definitely would recommend that anyone looking for a new or ‘fixer’ fireplace go there and check it out! Another angle that sold me, many other fireplace installers and shops, could only refer us to websites to ‘see’ the choices (they didn’t have them in house to view) BUT the Warm Hearth had tons of models to view in their shop so we knew what we were getting before we installed, we got to see all the colors (I didn’t know there were colors!) of fireplaces!
We are so happy and it is the best Holiday gift we ever got for ourselves!

we recently purchased a home that had an existing gas fireplace that was not operational, and we never realized how difficult it would be to find someone in san diego who could work on it! the first guy we were to referred to turned out to be a total dud and charged us $ 140 for rearranging the logs a little bit, offending our politics, and the fireplace still didn’t work…
after a little more research, we were referred to warm hearth, and the most brilliant fireplace technician on the face of this great earth came out and fixed our insert! Danny was highly knowledgeable, super friendly, interesting to chat with and all around a warm-​hearted, great guy! he also gave us some education on the workings of our fireplace and suggestions for future use. It’s been working FABULOUSLY and we cannot say enough wonderful things about Danny and warm hearth
