For cheap, gigantic portions of Chinese food, you can’t beat Wok Star!
Walking into the restaurant, you immediately notice why the place doesn’t have an ‘A’ health rating. But to be honest, can good Chinese food really come from a restaurant with an ‘A’?
The food is relatively common, American-​ized Chinese food: Orange Chicken, Broccoli Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, etc. But it’s good, usually straight off the stove, and cheap. Mounds of food for about $ 6.
You get (a lot more than) what you pay for, so come if you’re broke and hungry.

Let me start off by stating I don’t usually leave a review, but I was compelled too the cook first of all was outside in a squatting position smoking a cigarette, the lady inside the store had bad customer service. When me and my husband finally got home to eat our food I had a hair in my rice, and turned my stomach. My husbands portion of the pork was horrible to say the least we will not be returning to this place ever again…

The house special chicken is amazing! I love the service and food here. You can not go wrong when you are hungry and want Chinese food.

Quality and price of food is what makes this place a great place to eat. Whether you’re coming home from work, stopping for lunch in between classes, Wok Star is a fantastic place to eat some Chinese food. Not to mention, the amount of food they give is noticeably a lot more than Panda Express. If you are thinking about going to get Panda, you should definitely go to Wok Star instead.

I’m not impressed the boyfriend and I went there for lunch around 130pm today the food looked like it had been sitting out all day. However they made a Fresh batch of sweet sour chicken so that’s nice but the veggies were raw and hard and the sauce tested like rust.
The orange chicken was hard and almost impossible to bite down on and rice was ice cold.
Waste of money and time.
To make matters worse my boyfriend may have food poisoning!

Thought this place was called Hong Kong Express, but apparently it’s now Wok Star. Pretty good place! The had a wide range of options and it was very affordable. My whole meal was barely $ 5 and it was too much for me to finish.
The interior was clean and their staff was helpful. (They even threw in free dessert!) My one complaint would be that the food had been sitting out in the heating trays for quite a while, but I did come in and the end of the day. I had the spicy orange chicken and fried rice, which was flavorful but not overwhelmingly hot. Would recommend if you want quick affordable Chinese food.

I’m so sorry, I was completely underwhelmed.
Unless they change the food there recently, but everything I had really tasted like cardboard or just about anything that was left over in the kitchen.
I do believe everybody deserves a second chance, so give it a try and find out for yourself.

If I could give 0 stars I would! Horrible customer service! Lady was so rude to the people before us and was super rude to me! And the food wasn’t so great either. NEVER GOING BACK THAT’S FOR SURE!

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review for this place yet!
The owner is a young cat that super cool and easy going. Service is always great. I’m not a big fan of Panda Express since their food lacks flavor in my opinion. This place is another story. Their orange chicken is our fave. The noodles are ok to me but my husband thinks they’re great. We’ve had food delivered and gotten food for take out too.
Prices are beyond reasonable! Try some of their specialty plates they make in the kitchen by order, we’ve had some awesome shrimp and vegetables they hooked up perfectly.

Friggin amazing. So much better than Panda Express, and quite possibly the best Chinese joint to eat @ in LM. Would go their after baseball, and couldn’t wait for my next visit. Service is eh, but they get the job done.

The last few times I’ve eaten there, I’ve gotten sick. Considering there only rated a B for cleanliness, maybe that has something to do with it

I’m not going to say bad service because it was only my first time but the lady was clearly rude to my boyfriend slammed the tray had a attitude when he asked about the pork. I won’t let him eat here again. Plus he said the food isn’t great all dried up.

This is how I was treated as I came into this place. I’ve passed by here a few times and I decided to take the daring challenge to eat here.
Big mistake! From the second I walked in it was dirty and outdated. There was a woman before me and I was gazing at the menu and then all of a sudden I hear a whistle. I ignored then I heard it another time. Irg noted then even louder and I made eye contact with the older man behind the counter and he gives me «WELL???»
B&$ch don’t you Effin whistle at me. Say excuse me are you ready to order or say can I help you? — these were all thoughts of course and I didn’t actually say that. This was very odd, I’ve never been treated with so much disrespect.
I was about to talk out but I was hungry and just needed food. Looking at the food kinda made me sick but I was there already. I ordered combo A which was pretty cheap. I was surprised by how much portion they gave but it looked like sh$t.
I paid and the guy didn’t even ask if it was for here or to go or if I wanted a drink. Fine no easy $$ for you. I took my first bite and my appetite went away. I took a few more bites and I was done.
Avoid this place… you can Unilocal better places in the area.

Loved the food although I wanted to get something different but had no time! The lady is friendly and was generous with portions. I would definitely go back!

They have catered 2 of kids parties and they have always had our order ready to go when we needed it. We love their chow mein. I really enjoy their house chicken that’s my favorite. Overall the they have good prices, good portions, and is the best little fast Chinese food place around.

I have been here several times, and its exactly as described: Chinese fast food. Sometime you want the authentic tasting stuff, but sometime you just want the fast food kind, and this is my goto place. I usually order stuff from the menu on the side, not just for me but the for the wife, so I know that everything is cooked when I order. I havent and prob wont want the stuff in the pans, I just like my food as fresh as possible.
Their prices are decent and you do get a good amount of food. If your feeling the authentic vibe, look elsewhere, but for the fast food flavor this is my go to place.

I don’t understand the good ratings for this resturant. I walked into the resturant about 5:00 PM yesterday. It looked like the food had been sitting in the buffet pans for hours. The noodles looked crusty and dried out. I walked out without ordering, I care about my physical health too much to get food poisoning.

This is my to go place for Chinese food!!! I love love love the house specialty chicken and the spicy orange chicken. It’s great for take out. The owners and workers there are always nice to me. The food is the best Chinese food in the La Mirada area. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get take out or delivery Chinese food.

The food is good here. Its 11:35 and should be opened by now but hey still haven’t opened so I’m outside waiting.
Edit: opened 14 mins late. Food is still being prepared. Food is good here so it makes up for it
